How they ever let go of Les Binks is beyond me. Scott Travis is a helluva player...dave holland doesn't even get capital letters, say no more, but LES BINKS' playing especially his delicate accent work and ability to take a phenomenal drummer's work (Simon Phillips), respect it, and still make it his own, is unparalleled.
all good....i like the mental side of metal..BS in spades....heavy metal is really about making yourself feel bad, which we all do....it is very negative music,,, but we all go there... and we have to.... LOVE it ....- which I do!!!!. it is an acknowledgement of our self-doubts...META:L
@BLACKSABBATH0HM umm, are you saying coroner is better than slayer? i like coroner, But you sir. must be smoking some serious doonkey cocks if u are serious about that
@x716mosdef Slayer sucks dude. South of Heaven is garbage! Coroner is way more intelligent than those shit heads. Guitar playing in Coroner is magnificent while Kerry King butchers solos.
@x716mosdef Well yeah Show no Mercy was a badass album but they made more shitty material than good. Coroner is catchier and their riffs are to die for.
Iron Maiden, Sabbath/Ozzy, Motley Crue, Guns and Roses, Scorpions and Metallica all have nominees for the best "regular metal" album of all time, but if I picked my #1 from a lead/rhythm guitar player's point of view, I narrow it down to 2 choices. Diary of a Madman/Ozzy or Ride the Lightning/Metallica.
The best Thrash Death Metal album of all time, I've always felt was an easy choice for many reasons. My choice is Slayer "Reign in Blood". Remember bands like Anthrax, etc were NOT "Death Metal", so don't be confused here. I've listened to just about every death metal band out there, with a commercial album and you know what I hear? Good musicians trying to copy Slayer songs!
@Boogyman4050 That album was ok but Show no Mercy was way better. Slayer isnt a very good band anyway very inconstant. South of heaven was one of the few 80s thrash albums that I fucking despise! Such shitty vocals but still not as horrendous as God hates us all. Also Death metal was around before Reign in blood if you consider demos by mantas/death and Warhammer, plus the first death thrash album was Seven Churches by Possessed which came out in 1985. I like that album better than R.I.B myself.
To pick a number 1 album of all time is just to much debate, but I'm sure we could all agree on which ones belong in the top 25 best "regular metal" albums of all time. Of the 3 great JP albums 2 of them belong in the top 25. Unleashed and S for Vengeance. I love British Steel, but I don't believe that album deserves to be in the top 25 of all time. Too many other albums are much better.
@Chronic70's...I've seen Priest 18 times and only 2 times did Halford sound this outstanding for the entire show. Yes, they did over dub the vocals, but who cares? I'm glad they did. The mix guys for this album were outstanding using 1979 equipment.
@Boogyman4050 I agree, it's almost humanly impossible to be outstanding in every show. However, 18 times is a small number compared to the number of shows Priest played on a Tour. I saw Priest a number of times as well and most of the concerts I attended, he wasn't too far off. People fail to understand that dubbing vocal tracks still involves the singer's vocal performance. Halford probably performed that part numerous times before the producer settled on which ones to sample. Your right.
The heck with Breaking the Law and You Got Another Thing Coming. This is the " BEST OF JUDAS PRIEST " on Unleashed in the East. I love this album so much, I'd probably screw it! Rob Halford's voice is super awesome (even for him) and Glen Tipton's/ Downing's awesome solos on this are at a Steve Vai level! I don't care if they sleep with gay aliens. This whole album is just freaking awesome!
@fredespanish the vocals on this live album were re-recorded in studio. I first realized something is TOO good with the vocals and then actually learnt what happened. Halford never did such flawless performances live, how could this one be one?
@chroniclerofthe70s Let me make clear that the fact I'm being honest and saying the truth doesn't mean I'm not fan of JP. I am fan and watch them live every chance I get BUT the truth is Halford is bad at live ok? ok. And Unleashed in the East has studio vocals ok? ok.
@vazelos87 Are you referring to his singing today? I agree that today his voice doesn't quite hold up to his voice in his prime. Sometimes he tried to match the album and in other concerts he did not. Why? who knows.
@fredespanish i too find it hard to believe this was all live. just listen to some other live performances on youtube. alot of them suck pretty bad. whereas this version was absolute perfection. no man has that kind of lung power in one shot. no man. i listen to this song from the Metal Works album, and its straight bad-ass. i knew it was too good to be true. i aint tryin to knock halford, just stating the facts
@fredespanish what do you mean by re-made? like they edited a few parts of it? first thing i noticed was that the beggining guitar intro is slightly different on the album version compared to this video, but the rest of it sounds like this vid. either way, one hell of a song. cant decide if this is my favorite or iron maidens rime of the ancient mariner
@fredespanish damn right, those are the only two maiden albums i have. its hard to find entire albums that are chocked full of epic epicness like those two. but GNR's Appetite for Destruction is right up there. aside from Sweet Child O Mine, every song is killer
some extent i agree - here is my list of perf. of all time ! 1) Beethov. 3 symp. - 1 mov - Karajan 2) Beethov. 3 symp. - 2 mov - Karajan 3) Mozarts 21 piano concerto 1 mov. - Gulda 4) Nottingham lace live - Buckethead 5) UFO - Strangers ... - Rock Bottom 6) Tannhauser March - Wagner 7) Anton Bruckners 9 sym. 1 mov. - Karajan 8) Victim of Changes - Unleashed in the East - Judas P. 9) Strange Kind of Woman - Made in Japan - Deep Purple 10) Ace of Spades - Motorh.
Realy 2 poeple dont like this?!?!?! probably fans of Justin Bieber!!!!! ROB HALFORD IS AMAZING!!! JUDAS PRIEST ARE AMAZING!!!!!THNKS FOE UPLOADING!!!!!!!!!
