dude the reff's SUCK, it was so easy to tell he was out 5 seconds before he acutally stopped it.... the longer you prevent that blood from reaching the brain, the deadlier it can be.
blood chokes don't stop the blood flow from going in and out of your brain.. its the change in pressure that makes your brain shut off to prevent trauma.. in this case, yes, if you hold on to a choke for too long you can cause damage and even death but you would have to hold on to it for many minutes.

This is used in Judo a lot for when an opponent turtles up. I can be used very well if you stuff a double leg takedown.

its not gonna cause permanent damage to the fighter if he goes unconscious. As long and he's given air right after the lock is lifted he should be fine.

@figthersdreams im not saying its good for you but its not going to cause severe long term damage. This is the risk you take when you fight. I agree, safety of the fighter is paramount but only so much you can do as a ref. Stop a fight too early and you get panned worse.

Thats a fucking terrible ref. He should have lifted the fighters hand to see if it went limp or not. That was really really scary, the fighter could have died or sustained serious brain damage.

@yamasnik Na, man. I'm sensitive about those kind of things, but you could see Fekete was moving his hand around 3-4 seconds before the hold was released. He should be fine, relative to other fighters. He's better off having that happen than receiving a series of strikes to the head.

I'm suprised more people don't go for these. You can pretty much get a triangle from any angle even if they are harder to finish you still have their head and arm tapped and it's super annoying.
