This is why people are misled, they're being spoon fed bits and pieces of information.

I have made a career in the environmental field. What worries me about Global Warming is that there is a good likely hood that the earth has or is about to enter into a cooling period. The temp. of the earth has gone up and down naturally for a very long time.Since people link the environmental movement to Global Warming this could discredit that movement.

Benny Peiser's study that shows that only the minority of climate scientists support the anthropogenic global warming theory. He submitted it to "Science" for publication in order to correct the nonsense published by Naomi Oreskes. The editors at "Science" declined to publish it - presumably because it made them look like tools. The journal "Nature" refused to publish the McIntyre/McKittrick work that disproved the "Hockey Stick" - again, presumably because it made them look bad.
First, Do you understand that the journal Nature and the journal Science are respected SCIENCE journals? Do you understand that they are not (for instance) INTERNET BLOGS? As such these journals are not places for politically slanted "studies" that can't be recreated.
ANYONE could try to get a not very well founded study published in these journals and have it turned down; ANYONE could CLAIM it was refused for political reasons. Such a claim would, of course, be without merit

When doctors (who are scientists for example) give people series of tests, coming back with the determination that they have cancer -- they are NEVER 100% certain there is ALWAYS a margin of error. But doctors are almost always certain within a very high percentile.

Does anyone else see how when reporting on a story they try and push a message. Like that clip about the coldest weather in 20 years somewhere. That comment he makes on global warming being 'hype' doesn't add to the story, isn't a fact, and is rather irrelevant. How does that count as newsworthy? It makes me think that the only reason to mention the cold snap is so they can hold it up to show that global warming is 'hype'. That has the hallmarks of propaganda more then news don't you think?
And furthermore - pardon me while I get on my highhorse - not all scientific heratics are right - but just because the majority of scientists believe something - does not mean that that view is correct. I believe we MUST move toward sustainable enengy sources, and if we do so under the possibly false call of global warming, it will not be a bad thing. But there is NO CONCLUSIVE evidence that CO2 is definately the cause.
The majority of scientist do not believe global warming is man made. There was alot of pressure in the community to go along with the public, alot of money at stake, politics, but scientists and climatologists.ect are coming forward against it.

There IS no consensus. Science isn't about "consensus" - it's about facts. How many times have science "heratics" been correct? Lots! Ask Copernicus and Galileo. Greenhouse = funding. Climate "predictions" are based on computer modelling. Scientists still don't know what triggers El Nino to cease - how are we going to accurately predict the outcome to so called Global Warming? We can't - but a gloom and doom media certainly can.
Science IS all about consensus. That's how science moves FORWARD. That's how papers get published, that's how they survive peer-review, that's why these papers get referenced. A fact is reached when there IS a consensus.
If you're indifferent to science then stop preaching about something you know very little about.
How can you possibly say that? There was strong consensus that the Earth was the centre of the Solar System. A lone voice called Copernicus said the majority was wrong. Galileo did to - he voice of dissent was so loud he was placed under house arrest. Here's a suggestion - read "The Structure of Scientific Revolutions" by Thomas Kuhn. It tells - time and time again about how the prevailing view - reached by the majority - consensus - gradually collapses and is shown to be wrong.
Of course it only collapses if it can be shown to BE wrong. If the majority are actually right then the lone 'heretic' is dismissed as such. Science is about the truth, not about what's popular or profitable.

The U.S is the largest contributor of carbon dioxide emissions, w/ 5 tons of carbon per person per year.

@Dodger481 The statistics that people point to are the ones that tell us the average global temperature, which is rising, though not entirely significant, which doesn't account for the fact that seasonal weather patterns show that, while the huge rise in heat during certain seasons, due to El Nino, the glaciers are melting, which is causing arctic winds to show significant temperature drop in colder seasons. This is why people are misled, they're being spoon fed bits and pieces of information.

I have made a career in the environmental field. What worries me about Global Warming is that there is a good likely hood that the earth has or is about to enter into a cooling period. The temp. of the earth has gone up and down naturally for a very long time.Since people link the environmental movement to Global Warming this could discredit that movement.

Benny Peiser's study that shows that only the minority of climate scientists support the anthropogenic global warming theory. He submitted it to "Science" for publication in order to correct the nonsense published by Naomi Oreskes. The editors at "Science" declined to publish it - presumably because it made them look like tools. The journal "Nature" refused to publish the McIntyre/McKittrick work that disproved the "Hockey Stick" - again, presumably because it made them look bad.

Not only did M&M's work comprehensively repudiate the MBH fraud (cherry-picked data, deliberately manipulated results, "Hockey Stick" curves generated from random numbers using Mann's methodology) but they showed that if Mann had done his work correctly, it showed that the Medieval Warm Period was actually warmer than the 20th century.

When doctors (who are scientists for example) give people series of tests, coming back with the determination that they have cancer -- they are NEVER 100% certain there is ALWAYS a margin of error. But doctors are almost always certain within a very high percentile.
This differs MARKEDLY from a religion which attempts to use supernatural forces to devine knowledge.

Does anyone else see how when reporting on a story they try and push a message. Like that clip about the coldest weather in 20 years somewhere. That comment he makes on global warming being 'hype' doesn't add to the story, isn't a fact, and is rather irrelevant. How does that count as newsworthy? It makes me think that the only reason to mention the cold snap is so they can hold it up to show that global warming is 'hype'. That has the hallmarks of propaganda more then news don't you think?

Climate "predictions" are based on computer modelling. Scientists still don't know what triggers El Nino to cease - how are we going to accurately predict the outcome to so called Global Warming? How can you possibly say that? There was strong consensus that the Earth was the centre of the Solar System. A lone voice called Copernicus said the majority was wrong. Galileo did to - he voice of dissent was so loud he was placed under house arrest. Here's a suggestion - read "The Structure of Scientific Revolutions" by Thomas Kuhn. It tells - time and time again about how the prevailing view - reached by the majority - consensus - gradually collapses and is shown to be wrong.

The argument or the solution has been hijacked by the "activist" scientists or alarmists seeing this debate as a way of moving more quickly away from fossil fuels - not a bad thing in itself. Argue against global warming and you are instantly labelled a stooge or puppet of industry and vested interests.
