Just use the pedestrian timers to determine how much time you have left before the light turns red... most of the time when that timer runs down, the light turns red!

My dad told me they had an analog version of these in Germany around 30 years ago, but were removed because people would take off before it actually went green, resulting in accidents.

I wish these existed all over the world - like make them mandatory on every junction so you don't have to sit there thing "How much longer?" and you won't have to race the green light when you come flying along the road at 50 miles/hour and the signal goes amber then red really fast
