Overall Weezy IS sick though. The best alive? Not at all, but I think a lot of people discredit him automatically because of some of the music he has released (Ex: Lollipop). When he goes hip hop though, he definitely can hold his own with other
rappers. As far as him being greedy, I'm not gonna judge him on that. He's been with cash money since age 12, so when he drops catchy singles to make his loot, I'm not gonna judge him on that. Fitty used the same formula, albeit to a lesser degree. Aside from the legal problems, he's achieved a level of success and popularity that I gotta respect, so I won't knock him for how he decides to use his talent, I'll just enjoy when he does drop something that is dope and ignore his pop shit.
I think it's all about the balance. Some people that aren't real hip hop fans and have no idea what the heII they are saying, will call him the best of all time and whatnot, ignoring how much incredible music there really is in the genre of hip hop.
But many hip hop heads (many close friends of mine), HATE him with a passion, refusing to listen to any track by him. That's a shame because he has put out a lot of DOPE rap music over the years.
Jay Elec is the dope though. Easily my favorite new rapper (though i've been bumpin him for almost 2 years now). Nobody could fuck with him on the mic today. It's even cool that he used a line taken straight from MF DOOM (Eatin wack rappers alive, shittin out chains, Exhibit C).

Lollipop is definitely a classic track, but it's not classic hip hop. 10 or 15 years from now, I'll hear that song and totally remember it, but it's not gonna be remembered because it was a big contribution to hip hop music.

rappers. As far as him being greedy, I'm not gonna judge him on that. He's been with cash money since age 12, so when he drops catchy singles to make his loot, I'm not gonna judge him on that. Fitty used the same formula, albeit to a lesser degree. Aside from the legal problems, he's achieved a level of success and popularity that I gotta respect, so I won't knock him for how he decides to use his talent, I'll just enjoy when he does drop something that is dope and ignore his pop shit.

I think it's all about the balance. Some people that aren't real hip hop fans and have no idea what the heII they are saying, will call him the best of all time and whatnot, ignoring how much incredible music there really is in the genre of hip hop.
But many hip hop heads (many close friends of mine), HATE him with a passion, refusing to listen to any track by him. That's a shame because he has put out a lot of DOPE rap music over the years.

Jay Elec is the dope though. Easily my favorite new rapper (though i've been bumpin him for almost 2 years now). Nobody could fuck with him on the mic today. It's even cool that he used a line taken straight from MF DOOM (Eatin wack rappers alive, shittin out chains, Exhibit C).
Sorry to go off on a rant like that, I just wanted to put my thoughts into words and give respect where I feel it's due.

I have to agree with JoeLpapes Carter 3 certainly isn't classic, at least for Hip Hop. It may be a pop classic, I'm not a pop fan and wouldn't claim to be so can't really look at it in that context objectively. That being said I do believe Wayne has talent, he just refuses to use it for the sake of uplifiting or spreading positivity, instead he uses it to satisfy his own overwhelming greed.
