  • Mgs 1 <3

  • 2:34 sony is a shit in our mouths

  • Just ... :')

  • i want this played at my funeral

  • I literally have no idea what she's singing. But regardless of that, it sends chills up my spine. When I played MGS1 and heard this song, the title did not disappoint. "The Best is yet to Come" You're damn right Kojima, then I played MGS2, traveled back to the past with MGS3, Portable Ops and Peace Walker, then one final time, I fought along side Solid Snake in his final days. In my opinion, no other game franchise will ever reach such a level of emotion.

  • @ExecutivePwnage

You have your mouth full of truth there, sir!

  • I started to play MGS1 again... T_T

  • Love the bit at 3:40!

  • These 7 people are infected by FOXDIE!!! :P

  • oh and even though this is lame, i just want to say, the 7 who disliked this video

    1) clearly haven't played mgs before

    2) has no taste

    30 are just freaking idiots

  • about a month ago I decided to play this game in chronological order, and when this played in mgs4... damn, 1st time i cried over a game...

  • I just realised this was Irish. The same Irish we have to learnin Ireland for about 12 stinking years. I am SO gonna improve on my Irish now for my final year in school :)

  • Does anyone know what language this song is in?

  • @mAwdedMetalGear japanese

  • @mAwdedMetalGear

the language is Gailic (ancient irish)

  • @mAwdedMetalGear GAELIC...IRISH

  • just so every body knows these are not the correct lyrics and the song was not sung by Rika Muranaka she wrote the song, Aoife Ní Fhearraigh sang the song which is sung in gaelic the national language of ireland. the more ya know!

  • Still a song worthy of my funeral. It is my youth, my life.

  • I hear this song, and look back to when i beat MGS1. The feeling of pride and accomplishment comes to me. Tears come afterwards. This game is so amazing. (:

  • Is a great theme. The better! Thank u

  • at 2:34 it sounds like she's saying "sony's a shit in our mouths"

  • @theHermann94 Hehe, when I played this as a kid, me and my friend always thought 'The sun is a shit in our mouths' Funny you heard something similar too

  • the whole entire Metal gear series has just been one of the greatest series ever, not like Call of Duty, no MGS is in my opinion WAY better then Call of Duty

  • @JackKrouser

DONT YOU COMPARE MGS WITH CoD!! MGS DOESNT DESERVE THAT KIND OF DISRESPECT!

  • @SuperTwacks hey man, i'm disrespecting, MGS is simply the best, i'm saying it's one of the greatest of all time

  • @JackKrouser ARE YOU ON CRACK?!?!?!? Call Of Duty sucks ass compared to MGS! Besides, at least in MGS it's not entirely necessary to kill. Not to mention, Call Of Duty doesn't really make you laugh...UNLESS you're sense of humor is watching civvies bleeding to death all around you in an airport.

  • @kiozai I know thats what i'm saying, metal gear is just awesome, and i think hideo kojima or whoever took over for him, could've done a whole lot more with the story

  • avrei sempre voluto farle sentire questa canzone..abbastanza pura ed esotica da piacerle.. ma è stata una di quelle cose che rimandavo sempre e lo dimenticai..ormai è tardi

  • nice song and nice words ... and know that u are not alone ... there are many of us that thing the same way as u do (at least me ) ... be strong be happy believe and live sooner or later u will find your way coz this is life about finding your oun path ... to be able to feal what is good and what is wrong ... we need to learn (pain , happines , fear , guilty, love ...) so that we can understand and in the end everything will be clear to us as watter ... just dond give up and dont hate others

  • Ah, damn... so sweet memories. I'm so glad that the first MGS can be purchased from PSN... now I can replay it any time I want on my PSP. ^^ The Metal Gear series is just perfect.

    " A cornered fox is more dangerous than a jackal! " :P :)

  • played mgs1 for the first time when i was only 8, and even then this music captivated me... now 19 this feels so nostalgic makes me want to cry, wish i was 8 again so i could relive it for the first time

    Thomas

  • when i was playing mgs4 and the sec this song came on i just droped the controller and listend... so fucking epic of a song

  • the point when you go back to shadow moses in mgs4 is definitely one of the greatest moments in all of gaming

and thats partly due to this song

  • @YataKazooie dead ass man i was happy man the first thing i popped on was the mgs1 mask lol

  • I just let go someone to this song :(

  • Googled the chick who sung this, thinking she'd be hot. I was wrong.

Either way, brings back memories. Fucking good ones.

  • @Donnelly182 ROFLCOPTER! EPIC FAIL! xD

  • who dislikes something as beautiful as this.

  • This song is Gaelic....But the lady singing it is Japanese.....Such awesome talent!!!

Arigatou gozaimasu for this!!!!! This is so beautiful

  • @JamesQAdams

The lady singing this song is Irish, the writer of the song was Japanese

  • @jaranarm i was actually asking a question, but had it answered.the lady is Japanese, but singing celtic. But i am affraid ive not been able to find mgs4 soundtrack either.but you have found the original track?that is awesome!! I have the originals, Mgs1 and vr missions..never did get game cube so dont have any for that.MGS2 ps2,MGS3 ps2,MGS2 Solidus.MGS3 Snake Eater.or is it the other name Solidus too?I forget sometimes.I am a student so got alot of things that need to be done it has 2 cd for MGS3

  • YES SIR, THE ENTIRE UNIT WAS WIPED OUT! lol

  • I remember smiling in approval when this song played during MGS4. Too bad it was only for a brief moment.

  • @wapaha ah, but you can pick up the track for your ipod while you're at shadow moses. right after you beat crying wolf, it's in the building before you head underground. i listened to it over and over again after i picked it up. especially since the song fits the somber mood of the entire shadow moses portion of the game.

  • To be honest, the second I heard this song in MGS4 while entering shadow moses, I cried. First time I ever cried over a video game. This game was fucking GREAT!!!!

  • some of the lyrics are wrong but not bad!

  • i take it someone dont know how to speak celcit irish because that not what she singing

  • love this

  • I just finished playing the game and man this song really stood out. Absolutely adore it. Truly beautiful in every way...

    Arigatou gozaimasu for uploading!

  • Im only 13 so Ive never played MGS1 but when I heard this when playing MGS4 I HAD to find out the name of this. Its a beautiful song and has a really deep meaning to it. Probably the best song ever created and intended for a video game. :D

  • this music is in MGS4 but at the end of mgs 1 [ if i remember right ] it plays to

  • @Puferu It plays at the end, and an instrumental version is a kind of theme for the emotional parts of the game. *Otacon talking about his past, the scene with Meryl before Psycho Mantis, and a few others.*

  • Its been 12 years

  • Man I fucking love this song! I played it for my Girlfriend and she damn near cried. Then she punched me when I told her it was from a video game. Anyway, this game will always hold a special place in my heart.

  • @Poshkin Lol, why would she do punch you?? Only song that ever brought a tear to my eye, and that was due to sweet memories

  • whats the name of the song, great message thank you for sharing it

  • @yoshimik08 its called the best is yet to come

  • R.I.P Solid Snake. You will forever be missed

  • @Grimmwood the legend isn't dead yet

  • @Grimmwood 2015, thats when he dies : (

  • gAELIC IS BEAUTIFUL

  • so true m8

  • Wow memories!

  • When i first played M.G.S. i was about 12, when i beat the game and come to the end where credits where this song brought tears to my eye's even not understanding what the words where but feeling with my heart i could feel sadness i'm 24 now still i feel sorrow. (cry's)

  • @omegabkg i heard that songs in like celtic or gaelic ...

  • @omegabkg Same age and same feeling. Its the only time a game actully made me cry, This song is wonderfull. Only MGS can bring something like that.

  • @omegabkg Same here! As soon as this song played as I approached shadow moses supply depot I was like holy shit I remember this song! I've only played the first MGS and MGS4 wish my ps3 was backwards compatible so I could get all of them lol

  • @omegabkg i think that's part of what made that game so epic. i've spent a lot of time playing video games in my life, and i don't think i've ever come across one where the musical score was so powerful and fit the mood of the game so perfectly. MGS was a great game, that's for sure. but, i think that what made it truly legendary was how the music makes you feel what the characters in the game are feeling.

  • @omegabkg Though I didn't actually cry, this summed me up rather well. It is truly amazing what a song can do to you, or for you. Be it enable your creativity, or help you emotionally. Heck, sometimes it just makes you thoughtful! But it is a true treasure to find something like this, and carry it with you throughout life. Here's hoping that we all find many more treasures like this song in our travels. :)

  • @omegabkg me too, i still feel sadness when i hear it.

  • @omegabkg

lol same got to my brother....if u hear it in sad times and stuff like that...ur eyes will be forced to tear up :(

  • @omegabkg

    the same history here brother!

  • when this song came out in mgs4 i almost cried >D

  • @DISTURB3D001 it was originally on mgs1 in the credits

  • @Hitmanfan12222 ye but not the second part jus the beginning

  • @DISTURB3D001 The full song was on mgs1 at the end credits while Alaskan footage is being displayed, the first part of the song also appears on the beginning tho... there should be a movie about mgs1 with this song.

  • the best is tet to come

    wonderful

  • Such a beautiful song bringing back the memories. MGS1 best soundtrack

  • I remember listening to this as a little 7 year old while my dad was teaching me how to play Metal Gear Solid. I wish I payed more attention to this song as a child because this song is really beautiful. If only American music was more like this, then I would be so incredibly happy. :)

  • mgs themes awesome

    realy mgs1 n 2 n 3 n 4 the best games ever!!!!!!!

  • so many people post this tune with similar and different versions of lyrics i'd love to the what the actual lyrics are...

  • how do i pronounce Aoife Ní Fhearraigh?

  • @Yeyinde Her name is pronounce like this:

eefa (Aoife) knee (Ní) aary (Fhearraigh). I hope you can understand this! It's the best I could do

  • thats an mouthful! but thanks! think i got it :D

  • I remember hearing this at the end of MGS1 for GC. I could never understand the lyrics. Now that the song is translated it actually means something to me. Even though the lyrics may be simple they are still very deep.

  • words and ideas don't always translate to exact phrases we are familer with and sometimes words lose there impact with direct translation, read the words listion to the song feel the emotion convayed and use your imagination alil bit. you'll probably like it better.

  • That's no excuse for bad grammar.

  • as I said translations arent exact the grammer for galic is not the same for english, the most direct translation was probably made so that the audeince would'nt lose anything, anyways I suppose we will have to agree to disagree on the point.

  • You're a kid, aren't you?

  • No havent been a kid in years you wanna go be alil arrogent prick on youtube... go right ahead eventually everyone else is gonna do what I do ignore you.

  • I meant no offense by that, but it makes me question how mature you are. An adult wouldn't have thrown an insult over a mere question.

You can ignore all you want, but you'll find that its the childish thing to do aswell. Adults always handle thing by talking through the situation, not ignoring it. Reminds me of a bunch of so-called "adults" from L5R. You act just like them.

  • The grammar is as it should be in Gaelic, but when you put it into English, it just doesn't work the same way. Also I like how you bash the lyrics of this song, then immediately follow up by saying "lirics". Probably an honest mistake, but still makes you look like a muppet. Also who the hell cares about grammar in a song like this anyway? It's only marginally relevant to the song, and as you should know, most people on youtube are not linguists, so just enjoy the music.

  • Thank you for that. I'mma work on that one.

  • @Dictator300 lol good comeback :D you guys are funny.. and btw, theres nothing wrong with being a kid, make the most of it while you still can, and regret nothing. There are great thingsabout being a kid, like having no "money worries" or bills lol. and being a kid doesnt make you immature, testosterone does LOL :D

  • I cried like a lil' bitch when I first heard this beautiful song once again in MGS4. The memories came back like a flash flood. Any hardcore MGS fans out there know what I'm talking about. We were all just kids back in 98'.

After the return to Shadow Moses, Hideo Kojima can do no wrong now. He really knows how to play with ones emotions.

  • its a golden gift on the end of the game!!!,gave me precious memories!!!!!

  • is this what they ae really singing? and yes the flashback to shadow moses island in mgs4 is the best

  • the flashback at shadow moses is the best part in MGS4 clearly the best! ty 4 ul:)

  • dude, this makes me cry so much. I do know, I do, but its still so sad.

  • IRISH FTW!

  • Not only at the ending of Mgs 1 in the begenning to it bring me too many memories

  • some one knows how part of lyrics means: "tell me i am not alone"

  • Creepy... I played this nearly a decade a go and have been learning Irish for 12 years... only copped on now that its Irish...Brings back so many memories....

  • irish

  • y does eveyone say this is from MGS4 when i clearly remember it as the ending theme to MGS1?

  • Because it is also in the Shadow Moses-Stage of MGS4.

  • Loved this part in MGS4 shadow moses part!!

  • IT IS ANCIENT GAELIC ACTUALLY

  • I Love this song.

It is sung by Aoife Ní Fhearraigh, an Irish singer.

As for the language, the song is performed & sung in Irish/Gaeilge.

Rika Muranaka wrote the song in Japanese & it was then translated to Irish.

for sound-track of Metal Gear Solid & MGS4 video games.

  • Aoife Ni Fhearraigh, that's what she called herself in written english dumbass!! Don't know? go to any search engines and look up her name. read my username and bug-off!!

  • he's right fuck head

  • like your right he's wrong ha

  • hoi dickheads da words r wrong....CUUUUNNNNNTSSS..is féar éireannach mé

  • That means "I am Irish grass". Looks like your words are also wrong.

  • no it doesnt fear means man..it means im an irish man actual

  • So am I. You said "féar".

    Féar = grass

    Fear = man

    Note the fada.

  • love this song :)

  • from what I've found, this was by some Irish "new age" singer by the name of Aoife Ni Fhearraigh. Rika muranaka didn't sing the song. Rika muranaka was the composer and director behind this song.

  • This is the song I want for my funeral.

  • what language is this song in? Sounds like Latin but also sounds a bit like Japanese too.

  • It's Irish.

  • I thought Irish and English were exactly the same but they just spelled some words differently

  • Irish is very different from English even in its roots.

  • Nooooo no no no no

  • i'm sure it's not latin,probabily japanese

  • Beautiful song. The beauty lies in the sound

  • The song is boring for you because your life is boring.

  • very good song and video. my two favorites of all the mgs series is this, guns of the patriot and father and son (witch make my cry a bit)

  • How would it be better??? The beauty is in the sound you hear from this language. It would not retain the beauty if changed to English, they'd have to change the lyrics to make it sound similar, like they do with different language versions of the songs found in disney movies.

    Or so I guess..

  • I agree, I speak Irish and English, and this song just wouldn't sound as beautiful in English, the whole structure of the song would be changed.

  • i like this song and it made me fall asleep and i was very relaxed

  • It's sung by a woman named Aoife Ní Fhearraigh, you should look for some of her other songs in Irish.

  • this song is awesome,as well as the game.

  • Simple video, but when you match the words to the melody and add lyrics... beautiful! :(.. Sadness this song is.

Perfectly done, when I first played/beat MGS 1...

Hideo is a genious, writing one of the best game(s) of all time.

  • Beautiful song!

  • I didnt know the song had lyrics ithought is sounded to awesome for lyrics

  • its being sang by aoife ní fhearraige ..not rika muranaka sorry to tell ya'll...and yea its As Gaeilge agus is é an t-amhrán is fearr liom...na aon amhrain eile!

  • Nil moran Gaeilge agam ach tír gan teanga, tír gan anam.

  • Snake wasn't a villian, and Ocelot wasn't a hero. They were both going towards the same aim in two completly different ways, but Ocelot wasn't truly evil.

  • It is the fact he wasen't evil that makes him the best antagonist ever.

  • this song is really beautiful. I played MGS4; it's one of the most great game in history

  • EPIC SONG

  • Is gaelic

  • i know that is a stupid question bud anyone know the language of that song!!

  • I think it's Latin.

  • its irish.. to be specific the language is gaelic

  • its a beautiful song about the real world...

  • its not japanese, its irish.

  • LOL FUCKING PWNED i tought it was latin or something lol turned out to be irish =P

  • Yeah! And there are even Irish themes in this song. ny experienced person who has listened to all kinds of music can figure it out easily.

  • when i play mgs4 i put this song on my ipod and i have noticed that it fitts to war games totlay i feel sad like those emotion controls

  • Yeah, so does calling to the night.
