The Spirit was my favorite. it is a fun cartoony movie. it wasn't to be taken serious. batman screwed the spirit over. why do people think it was suppose to be a gritty drama. he had a toilet smashed over his head. this is what it is, and it is very fun.

Although I admit this movie is bad, I can't help but enjoy it because of the imagery and I do understand what Frank Miller was trying to do. Most of the time he didn't succeed, but it was obvious that he was trying. Bottom line though, to make a more accurate film version of the comic strip, they should've not only stuck closer to the original but taken an approach similar to the Dick Tracy movie. When I read the strip, it was one of the first things I thought of.

I dont get why so many people are slagging this off, I quite enjoyed it. The visuals were great, it had some good lines, Eva Mendez was wayyy hot ! It had a campy Russ Meyer vibe at times which is never a bad thing. I think people who are slating this really don't know much about movies to be honest.

And the comics usually add a "tweak" to history(Vandal Savage in WWII).

When it comes to timeline/history in comics and comic book movies, I've come to expect the odd "techno leaps", it's fiction, superhero fiction. Try to enjoy it for that.

But as far as influencing the genre I'ld have to say that Iron Man gave hope for Super Heros not on the A list to be able to be sucessful movies. Hellboy 2 (which you also didn't include in your list) showed that there is a slight limit to how far below the A list you can go and still be sucessful and also that if your Superhero isn't on the A list you have to try real hard to be sucessful. Dark Knight Introduced the entire movie genre by making movie studios get a big intrest in going darker
