I still have my beginner wen rotary. I recently used a product called synthetic cutting creme from production chemical, and a finishing pad on a 02 buick regal. I then followed with speed glaze, and zymol carbon wax. My mom loved it too! Next time, i'll probabally start with #9, then finish with #20 polymer sealant before winter.
The product to remove the sand scratches was a compound Meguiar's Mirror Glaze line makes called M105. It is a nice product, has a bit of a learning curve but a nice product. M95 is easier for a beginner.
Do you really need an electric tool to remove scratches, in my opinion yes. A person cannot create the speed needed to remove the scratches, you really need a machine. I use my Makita Rotary for heavy paint correction (I believe he was using a Hitachi rotary - another fine brand).
i think M205 is a lil better than M95

DA polisher CANNOT hurt a paint finish. I am a professional detailer and we work with dual action and rotary polishers, a DA is 100% safe

Yeah, unless you want to use those cheap fix a scratch products... which won't look anything like a new car finish will.
