Well, what I find very nice on the x-station is that you can use it like two different instrument :
On the one hand it's a very nice midi controller, the touch pad is fun an easy to use, faders are quite well done, and there are differentes knobs (more and less hard to rotate...)... You can easely cut the keyboard in severals zones and save all the configuration in templates. All boutons are programables that's nice too.

Why is your X-Station so shiny? It looks more like brushed aluminum than mat plastic. Nice demo.

About modulation and pitch, I think it's not a major problem... But I'm not a professional so I can't realy say if another system is better...
About about polyphony, I don't understand what do you mean... (I'm french and my English is awfull... :s)

Mine too, don't worry ;) That's mine you can play in the same time only 8 signals/sounds. As beter synthesizer as more poli sounds. like 64, 128 etc.

On the second hand, it also a powerfull synthetisor and you can use it without computer ; you can also plug a mic or a guitar...
As a beginner, it was for me the best choice... (comparing to the axiom pro, akai 49, etc...)
