A little too glib for his own damned good, perhaps, but the same was probably said of Chuck Dickens and Mark Twain in their respective primes, so By God Loudon The Third keep on keepin' on old son, because buddy you make me LAUGH!
@9erfandex If you've ever seen him live he usually comments on how his songs are mostly a little depressing. He felt like he had to be the antithesis of people like John Denver 'cause... "you see where he ended up." Heh. Love this guy.
This Guy reminds me of when Pilton was an experience worth the ticket money, that is the fuel and and a walk around to where the fence wasn't ! Sigh...
If you get a chance to see him live, it's worth it.. when I saw him in Austin a zillion years ago he was joking about going into therapy to get lyrics for his next album..
the way I see it...and I could be wrong, he looked so happy in the younger pictures. Heres a guy who seems to be struggling with middle age. You lose your folks, and feel disenfranchised from the world. It doesnt get any easier my friend. God Bless you Loudo!
Yeah, 1990 I think (GHWBush's reign), on the album "More Love Songs". After nearly TWO DECADES this song is as relevant as the day it came out. I bought the CD back then and listen to it all the time!

Everybody's got the lyric wrong. It's "The dollar went down/The President's sick." It was when Bush barfed on the Japanese minister.
Also, John Donne, not John Dunn.

He wrote this while he was watching Live Aid in 1985, long before Bush came on the scene.
