  • I think I released gas in a hobo's face watching that!

  • HOLY FUCKING SHIT!!! LOOK AT ALL THOSE DESKTOP EFFECTS!!!! I THINK I SAW IT TURN INTO A FUCKING CUBE A FEW TIMES IN THERE!!!!!!!111111

BETTER THAN WINDOWS?!?!?! YOU BET YOUR FUCKING ASS IT IS!!!

  • im not saying this is a main point for vista....but what was good about it having high requirements is that it finally made manufacturers ship computers with better graphics cards/specs.....i would prefer to have a resource intensive OS as it would make our technology advance faster as it is required.

  • @xkflash You are reading history backwards ;)

It started with a deal with Intel, which had a bunch of shit-quality CPUs they wanted to get rid of. They couldn't run Vista at all. But by lowering the official requirement needs (the actual needs were still the same), MS solved that problem for Intel.

Only thing is, this is also to cheat customers, because it meant vista wouldn't run well, which MS knew, but did it anyways.

So, they cheated their customers on purpose.

  • Thuis is pretty good

    but still prefer to Win7

    (i'm a gamer, pir**)

  • @afomsolol ubuntu kill ta maman ;)

  • I don't care about FX but love the speed of it. Running Wins after Ubuntu is pain in the arse.

  • its just fancy visual effects which can be added on to any windows computer.....how does it make ubuntu a "better operating system" ? It hardly makes productivity any better

  • @xkflash 80% of the compiz plugins cannot be ported to Windows, however you are right in saying they are just pointless eyecandy (I don't run a CWM on any of my gnu/linux machines).

As for productivity, I think 10-second boots, multiple workspaces, and snappy UI responses put Gnome well ahead of "The Microsoft Genuine Windows Experience" (or whatever they're calling the BSOD these days) for now.

  • @xkflash I used Vista, before I went Linux. The total amount of time spent on useless crap like downloading updates, installing, closing down, AND installing again before shutting down completely then restarting installation of this "#%"¤% update again after I booted up... Its just not worth it. With all the other things that were so WRONG about windows, it was HORRIBLY slow and very unsable too, I found myself using more time on the OS than actual work.

    Windows is just not productive.

  • @ytvoice1 The difference lies in the way Windows "do things". Updating is SLOW. Just one small update and you have to restart three times?

I never restart in Linux Mint, after an update? And it updates while I work?

Faster system, faster boot up, uses less memory, is far more stable and more user friendly, is more safe than Windows. And it found ALL my hardware during installation, which also, took lot LESS than Windows...

    That is Linux.

  • @ytvoice1 you (hex539 and ytvoice1) both sound like you

    a) have hardly used windows vista

    b) listen/believe rumours about windows products

    c) have a system made about 7 years ago as you both complain about vista being "slow" and "resource hungry".

my computer is 2½ years old and was fairly cheap compared to what was around (just under $1000 AUD) and it runs smoothly to this day. rarely freezes. i'll give you the boot times are slow, but other than that there is no advantage in using linux

  • @xkflash I have used Vista for two years or something, so dont give me that BS.

The last "update" ruined the system totally, and it switched to win98 "theme".

Thats when I had enough of that ahit and decided never to use any MS-crap again.

But besides that, they have cheated and lied extensively, and of course I do not go out and buy more of their product then.

    I have my limits.

  • @xkflash I do not know what you mean by "old".

The computer is "vista ready", and it was built in.

No need to hide the truth, I know Microsoft lied about system requirements for Vista, and it, ts a known fact.

But the REALLY embarrasssing is, that Mint, which is free, is so much faster, so much more stable. On the excact same computer. That tells something about bloated MS-crap.

  • @ytvoice1 you guys...not only is that the most pathetic reason, as i hardly ever need to update or worry about updating (as most of the time it does it in the background)....but you don't NEED to update and you don't NEED to restart your computer straight away.....you can just turn it off when you usually do, and then start it when you usually do and its updated.

  • @xkflash

    1. Vista has to restart EVERY update. But before it restarts, it make a first installation. Then it restarts, and a second installation. Then a restart again.

Damn, it was SHIT. The only thing it did was restarting. And the updates was in mb-size EVERY time. Because all their proograms are shit-bloated.

    Vista sucks.

    2. Linux Mint, which I use now, it downloads updates in the background for the whole system, not only the OS. Then it installs the updates in the background, and thats it.

  • @xkflash

    My system runs 24/7

If an OS can not take that, well, bye to that.

  • I never got the whole 4 desktop thing it confusses me y do u need 4 desktops?

  • @cloudownage666 to keep unrelated things separate, for example I don't want Spotify or Firefox to show up in my window lists when I'm coding, but it's handier (and faster) to have them readily available when I need them without having to resort to tray icons or launchers.

ps. not everyone runs with 4 workspaces (I use 6), it's just that all the ricers who make these videos never find the settings to change the number.

  • Sexy...

  • ubuntu over w7

  • @afomsolol haha what a jk

  • VERY GOOD!!!! BE WATER MY FRIEND......

  • boom cheeki boom cheeki boom cheeki boom cheeki boom cheeki lets all take extacy and have an orgy

  • useless effects for people that thinks having a 3D desktop makes the OS better

  • this compiZ thing is getting so plain vanilla ..... when will Windows get it ?

  • In case you don't know how to get the cube, this is one way to get it (that I have heard of): go to the Add/Remove Application place, search for "compiz" (a desktop-effects-program) and it should pop up there, then download and configure. Piece of cake ;)

  • 0:35 sec how d u do that effect, i don't know how to get it and i just to have it before, please help

  • Hi, I got something else to ask than the special effects on Ubuntu. Can you tell me what software did you use to (live) capture your screen?

  • windows 7 effects and the system is very best ...

  • @vinicius1691 lol ... had not finished watching the video yet ... plus some effects are best on windows

  • @vinicius1691 had not finished watching the video yet ... plus some effects are best on windows

  • how did u get the clock, calendar, battery info and stuff to appear on the screen?? thanx a lot for the answer.

  • O_o...wow. I need a spare computer to try this out.

  • @ZeroG004 Dual Boot then :)

  • @nintendofan102 true but I herd that uBuntu takes up too much MBR space so it uses a pointer. If I wanted to get rid of it I would have to repair my windows master boot record.

  • The only technical improvement in Vista was expelling unnecessary GDI (Graphic Device Interface) codes from ring-0 to ring-3 on the Intel CPU ring-protection architecture.

But those GDI codes were so spaghettied and thus not well isolated from kernel codes that a bunch of preemptions on ring-transition occurred during even a simple graphic drawing. This is why Vista works so slow.

  • is theyre any way you can still have windows 7 and this? like choose at start up?

  • @SentinelCrisis Yeah it's a dual boot. You can partition your drive or choose the option when installing ubuntu.

  • @SentinelCrisis Of course you can!!!

  • @SentinelCrisis yes u can

  • if you wanna do cube this on ubuntu do start then z when you finishing dragging press enter then if you wanna spin it round click start and draging left or right

  • the best O.S is Mac!!

  • *facepalm* mac bases on darwin, darwin on freebsd kernel, freebsd kernel and linux kernel are pretty similar. so ubuntu = linux = mac

  • obviamente

  • @flashmate99 macs suck...well the one i use at school anyway

  • hey how do i get that jelly thing that happens to the windows at about 1:19?

  • mtz mtz mtz mtz mtz mtz.

    Suck it steve Jobs

  • extreme cool

  • Comment removed

  • Buenos efectos!, Good Efects!

  • Ubuntu ROCKS!!

  • these fx are excactly the same dude

  • excellent

  • Sad people only judge by effects and gfx.

You should look more the interface (perfomance, etc), that actually also beats Windows...

  • @W0iz3 lynux is better than windoze 7 at java

    watch?v=1CNWKyWV87Y

  • lol dude

i use ubuntu since 2 years xD

  • @MrTabby5000 u need an application called compiz..

it has lots of settings that help personalize ubuntu the way you like it...

that makes windows suck really hard

  • @MrTabby5000 install compiz fusion. you should have atleast 128MB graphic card.

  • @MrTabby5000

Sheese my old computer has only 32 mb of ram.

  • @MrTabby5000 go to the ubuntu software center and search Compiz Fusion, then enable desktop cube. Then it's control alt left click. :)

  • @MrTabby5000 get compizconfig it is an easy interface for setting basically everything about linux x

  • @MrTabby5000 type in "how to get compiz for ubuntu" or something like that on youtube

  • i really dont know what else should i try to customize my vista home basic.

  • Install FreeDOS.

  • Yeah! It´s the OS Linux it´s better like the windows.

Compiz-Fusion effects in ubuntu!!! Very good!!

  • try going in to linux without the graphics card in, and install drivers

  • 1:35 just use Yodm3d 4 dat

  • will these effects work on vista home basic?

  • Ahahahah...in windows??? Absolutly not

  • no :)

  • @ridemeup: Unfortunately...no. This a Linux based operating system called "Ubuntu." The desktop effects are provided by a compositing program called "Compiz." Compiz will run on any Linux and most likely also runs on UNIX. Vista does have some 3rd party programs that offer compositing but you have to pay for most of them.

You should try out Linux. You can burn it to a CD and run the OS without making any change to your PC.

  • no but you can download ubuntu

  • Cool but Badly no games work on that windows -.-''(means only for works& companiess etc...) he By the Way who plays here Chapatiz or Gaia or Tales Of Pirates Online games msg me xD

  • lol u can download games to ubuntu by a program called wine

  • Omg windows 7

  • can someone please tell in detail ....how this is done

  • Install Compiz on Ubuntu and then setup which effects you want, what keys to use etc.

it uses openGL to render I think.

  • What did you use to screencast?

  • Yes, I have it running on a Pentium 4. I'm really a mac user (have been for the last 10 years) windoze makes me laugh it's so slow and childish. I ran across Fedora/Ubuntu about 3 months ago, when I needed an extra machine for the kids. I was so blown away by the speed, elegance & robustness of the system...

I've just sold my mac laptop and bought a netbook with Ubuntu 8.04 remix.

    It's the way forward!

  • shut up there about windows

  • if "windoze" was so "childish", why didnt you get that for your kids? macs are great, and so is windows.

  • Very good... I like that argument!

  • sorry, windows fanboy acting up :D

  • Coolness

I'm downloading Ubuntu onto my Mac xP can you take it out? I'm just wondering

  • it shud be easy to take it off a mac, and on windows, if you make a dual boot then you need to download "Boot-Edit" and use it to get rid of ubuntu or any other linux.

    =D

  • hey,i am going to get a netbook,what is better ubuntu 8.04,windows 7 home premium,windows 7 starter,or windows xp home edition?

  • depends what it is for

Ubuntu is really cool, but if it's for work then stick with the common ones.

  • I had windows 7 found it was hanging at times, so i moved to Ubuntu, i put XP on Ubuntu but in all fairness Ubuntu has it all and for free.. i am really more than impressed by it

  • if you are looking for overall perfection, uBuntu, if you have a very high end pc and want games too, then Win7, else normal pc's with games is Windows XP is the best.

nowadays, many games work on ubuntu.

BTW >> ubuntu is now 9.10, its new, better, faster, awesome. I am using it xP

  • I have Ubuntu and Windows xp!

  • you can switch ?

  • Why do all these video have to have bad porn music?

  • Yeah, I installed Ubuntu to dual boot with Windows XP on my desktop computer. I had to do a chkdsk /f and reboot twice before resizing the hard disk since the Windows ntfs filesystem had a few defects. Other than that, it went smoothly, and I'm now using Linux as my primary operating system.

  • Pirate film in the background? Hmm...

  • buenisimo! 5/5*

  • Ubuntu FTW

  • y wont rtnbdbydsrybdsy

  • true but this is free lol and you have to say, it a hell lot better than windows :)

  • maybe hardware size (very good looking Mac-Pros.... might just buy one myself), but in terms of useability, my laptop running U9.04 is amazing. I set it up to look like a Mac on one account, and a Windows Vista on the other.

I do confess that most linux distro's look assugly.... very dry GUI's, but they are ultra-easy to edit to look great., Both my accounts are almost impossible to distiguish from the original, and I have EVERYTHING I want from Linux :)

  • cool !, however I still think that Mac has better looks and mouse control when it comes to window manager. well that's what I have found out by looking at friends' computers. I do not use mac or windows for last 6-7 years :)

  • when is 9.10 coming out?

  • yeah

  • october

  • fuck ya!

  • Ubuntu 9.10 - "The final stable version will be released on October 29th, 2009"

thats from Ubuntu (dot) com =)

  • final, nooo! :(

  • the final version of 9.10 =) not ubuntu itself though... cuz there is already plans for 10.04 "Lucid Lynx"

  • lol xD

  • Can't wait.... but then again I quite like 9.04, what are the major changes?

  • Hell Yes, Im sitting here trying to make justice with my little cubedestop for vista but it just dont compare to the FREE shit you have with Linux. Also almost anything is offered in a Linux version now so no more compatibility issues.

  • hell beautiful! i'll install ubuntu right now

  • linux for human beings!!

    viva linux!!!

  • Don't hate me for this but I'm not a fan of pointless eye candy. I want my desktop to look nice but things like wobbly windows and fade ins etc just make everything take longer, even if only by a fraction of a second. I don't like virtual desktops either. The only use I can think of would be if you were looking at porn and wanted to hide it from someone.

    Long live Linux

  • And that's why linux is so awesome. You get the snappiness that you prefer while someone else can have the flashy style that they prefer. It's freedom of choice.

  • chabelito1992

  • I Cant get my cube to work help me please

  • linux.. for cool people only. no windows fags allowed.

  • Cool effects! However, I suggest that you forget all this useless eye-candy and get a proper window manager like wmii or xmonad. :)

For those windows users. I don't know if you have noticed that games are more efficient in linux than in windows and it gives more Frames Per Second
