Any singer not learning a song, but know what they singing by reading it from paper is skilled. Have someone to give you a paper and tell you to sing what you're reading off this paper no practive @ all and see if you'll get it right the 1st time. Some of gospels greates like Lashun Pace and Karen Clark has done it.

This logically you can determine, cause the sista, is in total control of the melody she's singing, and where she had taken the song for me shows that she most likely already knew this song, but i would imagine like lost vocalists, our one challenge is in memorizing the lyrics! That little paper is the saviour of not screwing up the words! SHE KILLED IT!

Reading off the paper is how it's done in the GMWA recordings many times. She may not have even been given the song until that day. There are several recordings going on that week, and some lead singers don't know the song until just before the actual recording. So many recordings, so many songs. I just think it's awesome that she can read from the paper and still kill. That's how the pros do it.
