Hi Josh, I also have a problem.

When I want to go to step # 3 of updating my Xperia 8 and I use my "back" button while connecting my mobile phone to the usb-cable nothing is happening? What did I do wrong?

@0mg1pur3 In my experience how it worked for me was: take the battery out for about 5 seconds, put it back in, press and hold the back button and while doing this connect the USB cable to the phone, but when putting the battery back in and connecting the USB cable try to do this part a bit quick and don't let go of the back button until you see a message on the PC Companion saying "The update process has started" or an indication that the process started. -Josh

Ok, im downloading PC Companion, installed it, connect my phone, the program write the upgrade available, and i have to go to Backup & Restore site, i downloaded it, and i have to put it on my phone? After I backup the files, Click Next, the program upgrade my phone, i have to Restore the files, and restart the phone?

@zoleeraper11 Basically you install the Backup & Restore on the phone and do the back up option. Once you update the phone install the app again and this time you do a Restore instead. And everything that you saved you be restored back to your phone. -Josh

Nothing happens, no matter how long I hold the key. To top things, my phone doesn't react when I try turning it on and I gotta remove the battery and inserting it back to get it to work. Before that however, at about 10 minutes of pressing the 'back'-key, my PC Companion pops up a small window: "Having problems preparing the phone for the update? Don't worry! So, I still fail at exactly the same step as everyone else seems to fail and who hasn't worked it out yet. And no, I don't know how to work it out myself.

I am at the step "Prepare", the third to forth one. I followed the instructions as in disconnecting my phone from the computer and removing the USB cable from the phone as well, turning it off, and connecting the USB cable to the computer, then holding the 'back'-key, connecting the cable to the phone afterwards.

after u turn off u phone

1) plug in u cable into pc ( the cable dont plugin u phone first)

2) pressing back key

3) while pressing the back key only pluging in the cable into u phone, then the process will carry on :)
