  • The black hair care salons u speak of are not inconsiderate. Rather they have put great consideration into how to maximize their dollars by overbooking, wetting heads in order to assure that no one leaves the salon without forking over that money.

  • New subscriber!

LOL @ the head tilt "Excuse me?"

  • I definetly agree. I remember when I spent a whole day waiting to be seen, then wating to be styled.

    NEVER again!

  • I trust that you are well by now.... :) But I totally understand. I don't like waiting at all! The last time I waited a long time, it was my fault. I forgot to sign in. lol But one of the reasons I went natural is that I can't stand the "wait" at hair salons. The wait wouldn't be that bad if I was even acknowledged!!!! Some ppl don't even acknowledge you....

  • Yes, we need to do it with every service. I think that's why a lot of places have gone out of business (besides the economy). I think everyone should think, "how long did I have to work to make X to pay for this?" You'll save a lot of money if you are determining if the service or lack there of is worth it.

  • I agree with you fully! I have gotten up with wet hair (after waiting 2 hours total) paid the lady $20 and went home and finished my hair. Terrible for these hairstylist to triple book and have you waiting because WE DON'T WANT TO MESS WITH OUR HAIR. They realize this so they wash you and put you under the dryer to keep you content; knowing you won't leave.

  • I have been in a similar situation before. When I call them on it, then they pull that "Oh, so you want to got to the white man now?" Huh? It was like they felt like I should put up with a nasty attitude or poor service just because we have the same skin color. What is up with that?

  • i totally agree with you...everything is about client relations these days. i work too hard for my money to be treated as you say "shitty" LOL

if i get excellent service, i am willing to pay a little more for the same product

  • oh i remember those days. and i agree with u, i even stopped buying from slow online shippers.

  • I hope you feel better soon, great point.

  • Absolutely!!!

  • Hope you fell Much Better SOOON.

  • Amen...

  • yea we should def support productive and professional black operations...i have sat for hours in hair salons in the past and I WILL NEVER DO IT AGAIN! One of the perks of being natural is I get to do my own hair:)

  • @TheHeartfeltHoney One of the benefits of having natural hair is that you can do it yourself. Spending all day in a salon is not my thing.

  • so true...and now that i'm older i no longer have the patience for nonsense...i will dismiss any business with poor service... i was going to a salon that was "family" and i would always make appointments, but when i arrived there would always be some drama...i finally decided to not go back and started doing my own hair...

  • That can be used not just for salons, but everywhere u spend your money. These businesses lack good customer service, why schedule ppl when u know u can't see them then. Why keep shopping at a place that doesn't treat u right cuz u wanna support black businesses? I want to spend my money where they care about me and my hard earned money. It's a recession and if they aren't treating u right u can go down the street where some1 else will.

  • Good point! As I've gotten older, I have dropped many stylist that showed poor customer service, but I wasn't always that way. I waited on a stylist (fr 4pm until 10pm!) yrs ago simply because I didn't feel I had any options besides her!

We need to encourage others that it's very empowering to walk away from poor service and learn how to maintain your own hair. Since some of us will go off on the bus driver for arriving late on a snow storm day!

  • I totally agree, but I think a lot of black salons have that problem. I mean what is the point of an appointment if you can't be seen until hours later, I never understood that, but we have become so custom to the wait, but if we go to mickey d's and the wait is long, we call the manager and their mama!!!!

I am so glad I am natural and don't depend on the crack cream and become victim to that nonsense!!!.

    Thanks for the video

  • And I hope you feel better soon, chica! Woo woo woo...:)

  • This is why I've never been fond of salons...the blatant inconsideration of me and my time when I'm PAYING YOU for a service. Wheretheydothatat?!!! In all my years I've only had ONE stylist honor my appointment time on a consistent basis and provide a pleasant, professional atmosphere. We have to demand better period, or take our biz elsewhere; maybe it'll give 'stylists' incentive to start reciprocating the so-called consideration they want us to show them. Can't be the bomb w/ no clients.

  • I agree, but women going to these salons are thinking less about their dollar supporting the business and more about who can provide what they value, hair service. If that is the only salon on their route or neighborhood, they may endure bad service b/c they 'think' they have limited options. Same with natural hair businesses. Many (not all) have outrageous prices b/c there is less competition and they know what moisturized hair is worth to us, any high $ amount until we find a lower price.

  • I hear ya! When I was relaxed I used to sit in the salon ALL DAY LONG for a hair dresser who didnt care if I came back or not...but hey as long as I look good...right? WRONG!!! I have been natural for almost 2 years and I am so happy to not have to deal with that crap ever again!

  • this was one of the reasons I didn't want to go in the direction of relaxing ... waiting around for service. I remember when I was getting my hair flat-ironed to go to a prom I was there from morning until evening getting my hair done.

  • Are you willing to wait 2 to 4 hours to see a doctor?

  • I hope you feel better soon!! I agree with you totally. My last beautician had been in business for herself for a short period of time when I found her. She was excellent and on point at first. As time went on, her business was growing and she began to treat me as if her services could be less than what I was use to. I continued to endure for awhile, until one day she left me in the shop with my hair wet for almost 2 hours and I was late picking up my kids from school. Last time I saw her.

  • Amen! great vid. I am sick too staying at home for two days ;P Hope u get better too!

  • Hope you feel better soon. I had that some experience just before I went natural. I am kind of glad for it too because otherwise I would have never thought about going natural.

  • Simply put, you support the black businesses that RESPECT your dolla!!! That is kkkrazy, I would have been gone by 4:30!!! Thank GOD I am natural, but this goes for any business.

  • I hope you feel better soon.

  • here here!!! (btw - feel better :0)

  • AMEN!!!

  • Excellent points. Cold be gone!

  • I would have been sooo out of there!!!!

  • Oh yes...thats another reason as to why I went natural. Black beauty salons need to do better. I only visited one that was great..but the pricing was just to expensive.

  • I am with you on that!!! That was one of the reasons that I went natural too. I just got tired of giving unprofessional hairstylists that don't even do that great of a job, my HARD earned money!!! Best decision I ever made. I enjoy my weekends now!!

  • Feel better!!

  • OH yeah, feel better!

  • I luv supporting local businesses and black owned businesses that provide good customer service. I agree, we as black female consumers have a lot of power. Great points and very well spoken. =)
