Has anyone else noticed the incredible resemblance of this trick with the one presented at the end of Sherlock series' first episode "A Study in Pink"? They clearly wrote that scene inspired by this routine. It's almost too similar, even the wording, everything!
They aren't actresses. I participated in the filming of this, they filmed three separate groups and didn't use my group even though also picked the wrong one each time, even though in the last round I could SEE the envelope bulging! But...contrary to popular belief, psych undergrads are not taught to read minds, or how stage magicians do their tricks! I think Derren Brown just dresses up a Paul Daniels style magician act by claiming to use "psychology". He probably just has trick envelopes!
me too. But I was on to him. I picked the wrong one the first time, I did notice he was pointing to it. He did it again on the second, I noticed it. I think he wanted to give her the money, so I chose what she chose, then I knew it was the closer one because he was giving so many chances.
When he said "it's in this one" for the second time, she trusted him because on the last time he told her the truth. He's also acting like it was in the other one saying "Ok...i'll give you 5 seconds to change ur mind."
He uses the same "trick" on the 3rd one as he did on the first one. Subtle things like when mentioning the money he would touch that one, etc. And with the 4th one he makes sure she keeps her finger on it, it would just be natural for her hands to come to rest with the envelope on her right.
The first and second ones were so obvious. I think the rest were just predictions. For example the last one plays on the human instinct to trust each other if they seem like they being nice and helpful. When he asked her which one the money was in he was simply watching her eye movement. Odd one out = different eye movement.

@roberto5992 Absolutely agree, at 4:05 it's VERY obvious in which envelope the money is in; my guess is that they are paid actresses

I've seen his other clips on here and again, I'm being dead serious, I was thinking the same thing the victim was thinking. This is fucking eery.

No..if you look a tthe third one - he actually does touch it again ...just before he asks her to choose..subtle but maybe enough.
