  • I was lucky enough to see her in 2006 in concert and she was spectacular. I had seen her once before about ten years earlier and it amazed me the strength of her voice after so many years. Because she was a jazz singer and not a pop or rock and roll singer, she never got her props. She was an amazing onstage performer before she took ill.

  • RIP Etta James. You had a wonderful gift and the world is richer for having heard your voice.

  • she looked gorgeous here, her voice..

  • RIP, Etta. ♥

  • All these bandwagon jumpers are hilarious in how disingenous and uninformed they are. No one viewed Codebear's video until Etta passed away and now they want to comment like they were profoundly touched by her and shame on others. This is the show and all guests know this and are presented this way--think of when shows have an ice skater and a singer in the background. They always split up the coverage when a guest is invited to sing on a show that is first and foremost about something else.

  • RIP Etta James

  • just and simply amazing Etta

  • Best ever. Wish I'd seen her live.

  • wish they would have let her sing alone without the dancers.

  • love how she did it

  • she looks gorgeous!!:o <3 and her voice sounds the same as it did decades ago, amazing. RIP loveyouu<33

  • man i have got to get me a dancer chick for a missus. this chicks body is fucking banging

  • she was 70 years old at this point and still sounded amazing!

  • R.I.P ETTA AND WHITNEY I LOVE U

  • @kurtmcfried This week on the Grammie, they did their usual slide show in remembrance of musicians who have died in the past year. The idiots left out Etta James. They made a lot over Whitney Houston's death and ignored Etta, a TRUE LEGEND.

  • meravigliosa :)

  • @6666mek Hey please watch my cover of this song and let me know what you think :)

  • @kurtmcfried Perhaps you don't understand — she sang on DANCING With The Stars. It's a dance competition, not an Etta James concert. Those "pricks" were competing on the show. And Etta was certainly given her props. Jeez, no reason to be so hostile.

  • ooooooooooh boy my pore just rose when she started to sing that song..... my blood runs cold..... chills!

  • Comment removed

  • oooh she just put Beyonce in her place LOL

  • rip

  • You went out in style Ms. James. You will trully be missed. RIP

  • I think the dance should have been slower with the way the music sounds...

  • Mmm...Johnny Hotsville!

  • R.I.P

    Etta James

  • @kurtmcfried agreed for once one got one of the best singers effer and then they show barbie and ken wtf

  • legendary woman

  • she looks and sounds STUNNING .

    rip pretty lady :)

  • The Greatest.......RIP Etta......xx

  • R.I.P

  • R.I.P Etta, you were a true legend.

  • Hey please watch my cover of this song! :)

  • A ring or bracelet goes flying off the hand of the female dancer between 1:45 and 1:47.

  • When Dancing with the Stars has special guests singing, they SHOULDN'T have two professional dancers dancing while they sing. Because the person singing deserves the spotlight, not a couple of unknown people dancing. Especially Etta James. She is a legend, and deserves all the attention from the audience. Not the dancers. And it made me cringe when she started clapping for the dancers. Etta James should not clap for dancers dancing to HER song. They should be dancing for Etta James. RIP Etta <3

  • those two dancers ruined it all i am mad. R.I.P Etta James

  • Please Check Out my channel, you can see there MY tribute for miss Etta James!!!R.I.P thank you..

  • She the sang like she meant it and we felt every word it !

  • The more I hear you sing, the more I want to listen to your voice and your song!

  • my you Rest in Peace... Etta James... (':

  • She has one sexy vocal range. Hits high alto and bass notes. To those doubters, this is the ultimate test of skill and she nailed it!

  • On the downhill side of health she could still hit with power when she performed this song. RIP...

  • *RIP* MS ETTA JAMESSS

  • she forgot part of the lyrics she must be really old

  • much better Beyonce....way better!!!

  • @SomeoneElse580 stopit5

  • You're simply the best...one of a kind! RIP

  • блестяще

  • This is what I call THE GREAT SINGER. Rest in peace, Etta Queen!

  • Etta James can make you feel the emotion of a song, deep down into your very soul!

  • Anyone who says she sang this beautifully is lying to defend a legend. I think she was very talented and inspired me as a singer and songwriter, but I'm not going to say this was amazing. There is no shame in admitting her adlibing was cringe-worthy. It was. But that doesn't change the fact that she was a great singer.

  • <3 this is amazing. Rest In Peace <3

  • hannibammi2007 is a hater eatta james sanged beautiful

  • @420brb no im not. I wrote this in my first comment. I just said that she doesnt sing good!!!!

  • @Codebear, also she sold millions more copies then the original recording and filled Mack's and Harry's walllet..

  • @Codebear true, but she sang it better my opinion.

  • @hannibanni, no she doesn't sing like either of them two because she is unique and the original singer of this song. You might want to listen to her early recordings she had this extordinary unique voice and her voice carried on. Here she is older and her voice doesn't carry out as when she first started and so on..

  • @tenchimuro23 "At Last" is a 1941 song written by Mack Gordon and Harry Warren for the musical film Orchestra Wives, starring George Montgomery and Ann Rutherford. It was performed in the film and on record by Glenn Miller and his orchestra, with vocals by Ray Eberle and Pat Friday.

  • @tenchimuro23 She is supremely wonderful here! I love how her voice developed over the years. A blessing from Heaven.

  • ehm....im not a hater but why did everyone likes her!? This performance from her was terrible?!!!!!!! I mean she doesnt sing like beyonce or whitney houston!

  • @hannibanni2007 You're clearly a child.

  • @hannibanni2007 She is 73 years old in this video you fool! Etta is the Queen~

  • @hannibanni2007 You have no soul!

  • @BreakingNewsNow1 ah....yeah right. How can you know this????

  • The female dancer's legs are GORGEOUS! Wow.....

  • Etta looks so Gooood!! Can't believe she's gone..she is the only one who can hum this tune!!!

  • omg i fell so bad i loved her so much im a emotional person so i cried R.I.P :(

  • I'm so confused...how old was Etta James 45...50...60...she looks so young...

  • @tru2me3223 She died a couple of days ago at the age of 73.

  • @Bella381 Ummm...I think you misinterpreted my sentence. I knew Etta was gone hence the "was" used in my sentence. But I was just giving her an off-handed compliment...hope that clarifies things for you.

  • heaven this song is from heaven

  • Etta, your voice is soulful. R.I.P, sing on. xx

  • Love her voice. I get chills listening to her. Rest in peace.

  • WOW! she looks great!

  • Etta was so beautiful

  • 3:22 ...that guy's from jackass right? the guy beside the girl in blue dress

  • Dios te Bendiga Etta !! Gracias por tus lindas canciones =)

  • she sounds and looks so beautiful here... wish she had worked this hair color and style more often...

  • How coud anybody dislike this? this was really wonderful!

  • God bless you, Etta, I know you are singing your heart and soul out up in heaven and they're luckier than we because they will have you for all eternity. Thank you for all you gave us; words just don't seem to be adequate but its all I have.

  • There's no one that can compare <3

Rest In Peace Etta, thank you for everything you've given us to remember you by here on Earth.

  • etta looks so young

  • as only she can sing it.

  • Eterna...! Miss Etta James R.I.P

  • UGH! her low notes make my heart melt.

  • Still had her voice at that age. This is what is called a God-Given-Talent folks.

  • @talkwench There is no way in hell that anything can distract from Etta James. I believe it was staged like this, but I don't think the dancing outshined her. Wonderful lady, great legendary voice.

  • "as only SHE can sing it."

  • @gotflava1 I agree it was a distraction but it appeared like Miss James didn't mind it i just wonder if she would've objected to making the appearance without the couple dancing in front of her would the producers still have let her perform?

  • Great! Etta's Performance was superb !! and the orchestration was so beautiful just like the record thanks for posting this and sharing this!

  • Thumbs up!

    Greetings

    George

  • @talkwench Etta looked liked she loved it!

  • She killed it at and when she said AT LAST. damn she still got it, I was shocked

  • No wonder Max and Karina broke off their engagement.. lots of ego and no chemistry!! Etta looked and sounded great though. There's nothing like the original! RIP and thanks for one of the most beautiful classics in the world!

  • she look's great and sounds wonderful. r.i.p. diva.

  • I love you Etta JAmes! Hey everyone come check out my cover tribute to her!

  • I'm gonna miss u, Etta =(

  • @Codebear4 I don't watch DWTS much but I remember Christina Aguilera performed and it was all her. But maybe it was because it was a dance number, idk.

  • @TheShikaidou She had her own dancers in both of her appearances.

  • great voice.please check out my youtube channel.

  • the dancing and etta james are amazing separate but together they did not fit. But etta james voice was beautiful.

  • She was so pretty!

  • @Codebear4

They do highlight guest performers if the guest performers are also dancers

  • Yes! Afterall, the show is "Dancing with the Stars" which is designed to feature DANCING. Hello! Ms. James was invited as a special guest to sing her classic number..."DANCING WITH THE STARS" production staff did not have to do bring her on to be part of the show! As you can see even the dancers gave her "props" by appoaching her after she finished singing...something rarely done, if ever, on this type of DANCE show.

  • people like never dies, stays eternally in us through music....

    people like her is unforgettable

    R.I.P.

  • R.I.P <3

  • sleep in peace Etta James

  • @_@ Just amazing, truly, mind blowingly amazing!

  • Okay everyone needs to cut the crap with the generation complaints. I am a 20 year old guy who listens to Immortal Technique and satirical songs, that's my choice. But every time I come across a song such as this I recognize what a great song it is but I couldn't possibly appreciate it as much as I could of had if I was growing up listening during the era she sprung from. You guys sound like crazed fans who brag about childish things, is your favorite Power Ranger the red one too? Grow up.

  • What's sad is this generation of people, who don't know amazing people like Etta James.

When I see people ask "Who is Etta James?' or "Who is Michael Jackson"

    -_0 <---- My reaction

  • R.I.P. Etta James

  • What if The President and First lady were required to dance like that at inaugurations (smile)

  • This song is perfect. I miss the times when people really thought about music and a time when people played instruments rather than drum pads.

  • Beautiful song, beautiful lady.

  • Rip lol

  • @Inspector711

lol? seriously... that was both wrong and disrespectful on so many levels, even for youtube.

  • Ein Video, das die große Etta ein Jahr vor ihrem Tod zeigt ! Schade nur dass die Amis eine Tanzeinlage wichtiger nehmen als diese tolle Sängerin ! Typisch !!!

  • i just love her voice and how it just flows with the melody christina comes close

  • @watchthesetens you ain't shit

  • At last my love has come along My lonely days are over And life is like a song At last the skies above are blue And my heart was wrapped up in clover The night I looked at you I found a dream that I can speak to A dream that I could call my own I found a thrill to press my cheek to A thrill that I have never known You smiled, and then the spell was cast And here we are in heaven And you are mine at last RIP ETTA
  • If you get a chance, please have a look at my tribute to the AMAZING Etta James, my favourite singer EVER!! I'd love to hear what you think. Thank you x

  • Buen viaje señora... descanse en paz, que Dios la bendiga!

  • RIP Etta James

  • R.I.P. Etta, the world will miss you.

  • @watchthesetens are you gotta your rabbit ass mind! She isn't just great she's sensational.

  • damn I'm so late, damn thats a shame R.I.P

  • Rip Etta <3

  • I am so glad she got a chance to do that captivating song of hers before a national audience. You can tell from her reaction at the end that it meant a lot to her to perform the song that allowed her to make a mark in the world. Such a blessing to watch her reaction it almost brings tears to ones eyes. God Bless Her Spirit. Rest in Peace. Songbird..

  • rip. etta

  • She looks and sounds amazing. RIP you marvelous creation.

  • she still got it

  • @talkwench I know. She still looked and sounded amazing though. Love her!

  • @Codebear4 Um, when Etta was singing it was ALWAYS about her.

  • @talkwench YEP.............

  • R.I.P Etta You will never be forgotten

  • Wow you can really hear how Christina Aguilera was influenced by her! She should definitely be the one doing Etta's tribute.

  • just perfect.

  • Seriously the audience needs to stfu and just appreciate what was a good dance and amazing song.

  • @GavinRienne What's sad is nobody viewed this video until she died.

  • @Codebear4 And here we are in Heaven, I'm sure the great Etta is there At Last!

  • @Codebear4 I so agree. I didn't even know it existed, and I watch dwts a lot, though I am not addicted. I am, however, addicted to the wonderful artistry of Etta James. This is so wonderful!

  • @Codebear4 It happens a lot, people sometimes don't appreciate the things they have until their gone. </3

  • @Codebear4 I watched this on the day they gave it.

  • Awesome! JUST AWESOME! Remembering crying watching this the first time it aired. It makes me cry tears of joy knowing that we have lost her but even in her ripeness her talent and craft had not lost its swag. Rest in peace

  • I would have rather watched the great Etta James, she looked and sounded lovely. We miss you already Ms. James. Thank you for your soulful voice.

  • MARAVILHOSO!!!!!!!!!

  • My respects to Etta's family. This is one of the 1st 45 RPMs I owned. BUT have you ever listened to a version of this song done by Glen Miller & His Orch. with singers Eberle and Lynn from 15+ years ealier, before the art of pop music started to deteriorate? Take a look at our true American music before you hoist Ms. James up too high.

  • ♪ ♫And here we are in heaven♪ ♫....... Etta I hope he is yours at last.

  • rip etta james may you never leve us

  • She is going to be greatly missed. What a voice and what a song that will live forever in our hearts! RIP Etta!

  • RIP

  • I agree Codebear. I respect the fact that the audience and the dancers themselves had given her respect.

  • I do agree that the camera should have stayed on Ms. James, I respect the dancers for giving respect to her. RIP Etta James.

  • Bless you Etta James for all the Sweet Songs and Memories you left us ! You've passed on, But your Music will continue to be played !

  • wrong dancing style....

  • @kennylondon123 The show is called Dancing With The Stars, idiot. It would be stupid if they didn't come on stage. What the fuck is wrong with you people. Etta James agreed to do this. She knew the camera would not be on her the whole performance. Ughh, when someone passes away people like you always have to come out and hate on fucking something. Makes me fucking sick.

  • Etta James looked so gorgeous right there, and haven't lost that voice. i just loved her low registers/tones she was hitting.

  • man is it just me or does she look in her late 40's...

  • That's Etta's son behind her on the guitar...

  • Wasn't she pretty!
