Great post fight analysis, I'm a Carl Froch fan, however I always like to think I score fights as a neutral observer, Dirrell won that fight easy, his speed, skill, movement was way too much for Froch, Froch was hitting thin air all night. Rather then people accusing Dirrell of running all night, Froch could also be accused of being unable to cut the ring off.

As far as boxing, speed and counterpunching I had Dirrell the whole way.

Unfortunately Dirrell blew it for himself by continually holding onto Froch. (I counted 15 very clear holdings from Dirrell round 7 an on)

In many eyes, with Dirrell holding, Froch wasn't able to box fairly.

Holding is against the rules in boxing and while it happens frequently in matches, it was extremely obvious to see that Dirrell was intentionally doing so to unfairly keep Froch from using his power on the inside.

Dirrel is one of the most awkward fighters i've ever watched, dancing about the ring like a fairy. People payed to see a fight not watch two men cuddle eachother. If Dirrel planted his feet snd stood toe to toe he would have lost. Dirrel ran away for most of the fight.

He exposed Froch in front of the world, and Froch will get owned again in his next 2 fights and will not make advance in the tournament. I hear you. The thing is this. Our views on him moving a lot (or running as you saw it) might be answered in the next fight . I say that because he NOW KNOWS that he will have to win convincingly. Ali was a great boxer, and he PUNISHED you. Leonard was a good boxer, and he PUNISHED you. Roy Jones... same thing. Kessler (active fighter)... Same thing. Froch is overrated he thinks he is better than he really is. He missed shots the whole fight and looked really bad swinging and missing the way he did. Dirrel got robbed hands down 115-113 even with the deduction this is why people watch MMA because of  Decisions like that.

i believe froch won by a round, im english, the ref ws black south american so no dispute in that sense not that you ever said it. the refs that had it froch's side had froch a round up 115 - 112 plus that penalised point dirrell had deducted for the point, 115 - 113 equals beaten by one round... froch is shit but dirrell ran too much to win it. germany would of been 117 froch 111 dirrell. dirrell proved alot. true winner win be abrham or kessler do you agree?

Yes. I see Kessler or Abraham being crowned at the end. Out of all the contestants in the tournament.... Kessler was the only one to face Joe Calzaghe, and he put up a good performance against him in the earlier rounds. But Calzaghe being the true champion he is.... wore Kessler down enough to take command of the fight. If that had been another fighter Kessler would have been champion. So I lean towards Kessler because he has experience with Joe, and did well in my eyes.

dirrells jabbed pitter patters and not often enough to win a fight by running. i didnt buy into all this dancing and running away shit. dirrel might look skillfull but he actually didnt do much. the quality of punches were better from froch. subjective scoring. gotta face that some judges prefer the aggressor rather than stick and move tactic. and dirrell didnt really do a god enough job to win a fight by that stick and move tactic.

Good comments mate and I agree with a lot of what you say. I really think that the problem is with the home advantage. The judges always seem to be influenced by the home crowd so if the visiting fighter doesn't knock the home guy out, he will struggle to win on points. I know it can't be done because of the financial aspect, but fights like these should be held on neutral ground.

If Calzaghe came out of retirement, Froch would stand no chance against him. The difference in class would be clear to see. Froch would get stopped or KO'd before the 8th round. Dirrel fought beautifully but wasn't aggressive enough in the first 7 rounds. The challenger has to take the title and you can't do that by running. Dirrel was the better boxer and if this would have been a non-title fight would have won a unianimous decision.

You DO have to clearly beat the champion to win in most cases. People don't want to see a guy beat the champion in a close fight because we don't know what the future holds for the new champ. Dirrell was dirtier. He was a spoiler. Dirrell did land more punches but he ran for 95% of the fight. When he wasn't running he was clinching or bending down on the floor. He ran so much he actually fell over twice. Also, spoiling a fight by clinching isn't defence. Gary Shaw - Dirrell's own promoter - said he didn't do enough to win the belt.

I'm from the UK and I totally agree with your fair and considered assessment.

I also believe that Dirrell won the fight by at least 2 or 3 rounds. He quite simply outboxed Carl through out the fight. It was a hometown decision. It's a shame when boxing can't be fair to the BEST boxer on the night no matter where they are from. As much I like Carl for his 'get in their and fight' attitude he lost to the better boxer in my opinion. Dirrell maybe not have got the decision, but I think he won.
