They sound and look just like they looked at their last gig. Stretch jens and a leather jacket, hairs and everything. Only singing voice has changed a bit. As ramones alweys sounded and looked the same and they were alweys "angry young men" they have became timeless. No matter when you listen to it it alweys sounds as good.
I started 6th form college the other day, and as part of a lesson, we had to tally what everyone's favourite movies/actors/tv shows/ books etc were. A girl asked me who my favourite artist was, and i had to repeat the word 'Ramones' 4 times before offering to spell it - she just looked confused. Needless to say the class's overall favourite artist was 'Chipmunk' :(
I wish they didn't have to change "I'm a natzi baby I'm a natzi yes I am" to "I'm a shock trupor in stupor yes I am" . I like it the original way better
i love the ramones but the whole punk movement was started by iggy and the stooges, the mc5, and the dictators, deal with it its history and the ramones admitted that they were heavily influenced by above
To me, this is proof that the Ramones invented the punk sound. You can argue that it goes back earlier, but the punk rock sound started here! The Pistols never invented it and neither did the NY Dolls. The attitude of punk may go back to the 60's with the Stooges and MC5 etc. but no doubt about it, The Ramones started it all off.
@mediattackrecords Actually Dee Dee wrote it as he lived in Germany with his family for a time. Joey never lived abroad and this isn't his style of song that he wrote.
this fucking destroys everything and everybody...these bands nowadays with their manufactured anger and whiny piss poor pseudo introspective no balls overproduced shit, take note. This is when rock n roll didn't care what you thought. Ramones forever...
@cody4556743 Yeah now it's like their trying to keep the real freaks outta the music scene. The Ramoes were never fake. Dee Dee will haunt me for saying this but I liked
Johnny's enforced dress code. It's like being some budist monk . You modestly dress so you can find your true self. not just stick a bunch of fake crap all over you.
@BluntObject1234 his dress code also meant hair (hence the reason why marky was said to have a wig) he even insulted dee dee back in the mid 80s because of that
@DeathEndsFun yeah but i think the point was that they didn;t atcually say nazi. thats cool man it's ur preference i reackon nazi is stronger and sounds better though ahha
THIS IS PUNK ROCK YOU FUCKING DUMB ASSES! UGLY, AGGRESSIVE, POLITICALLY INCORRECT AND IN YOUR FACE! Greenday can take their refined bullshit and shove it up their ass.
They actually changed the lyrics to their own song. On the first album, the lyrics go "I'm a storm trooper in a stupor, yes I am. I'm a Nazi schatze know I fight for the fatherland." Here Joey is clearly saying, "I'm a Nazi baby, I'm a Nazi yes I am." Why they changed it I don't know. Now that I think of it, this "rehearsal footage" must precede the album (Johnny isn't playing through a Marshall yet), so this might be an earlier version of the song.
@mcgoodle They Changed it becuase semour Stein (record Lable head) though the lyrics were offensive so on the album they changed it but live and reissues it is i;m a nazi
WOW Joey sang this the same way John Frusciante sings it. The lyrics are different. I'm a Nazi baby yes I am, I'm a Nazi shotzi and I fight for the Fatherland.
@mimoaapp Lotta 60s rock sounds like the Ramones, except not all of them used 3 chord progression. They're still a huge chunk of bands that sounds like the Ramones except they didn't suffice to being a road band, not changing their haircuts, equipment, etc.
the 'little german boy in a german town' may have been Dee Dee himself, living in Germany growing up. "Tomorrow the world" was a Nazi propaganda phrase, later used against them as the title of a popular 1940s American play and film about - dig this - a German boy who comes to America during the war and retains his Hitler Youth ideals (and the uniform!). After he tries to kill his foster fathers Jewish fiance (and the whole family I think) he breaks down - all he needed was love!
Make it happen yourself, there are great bands out there still, they are just buried in a pile of shit. Punk started as a big fuck you to acts like Simon and Garfunkel and Billy Joel, some people were sick of that shit being called rock and roll. It is time to rid ourselves of insipid meaningless music again. Go see your local punk band, buy their cd. (if you like them) and become a part of your own scene. Do not think that something that cool could not happen again, it can.
It wasn't only Simon & Garfunkel or Billy Joel it was a big piss off to the Zepelin & the Stones & the big business the music industry had become. The direct oppisite of "bustle in your hedrow", so to speak. And it did happen again in the 90's with grunge. And it will happen again in the future as soon as kids feel left out they'll start their own scene. God bless you Joey, Johnny & Dee Dee.
exactly man, rock n roll is too much up it's ass once again, sadly the Ramones are over, so i say, lets just take the torch from them, and keep it going!
P.S. after listening to the Ramones for awhile, i started my own band. I still listen to Ramones every day 24/7
