Has anyone ever beat the 1st level? if you watch the demo, it shows an Ice world, but i've never got that far. I have made it pretty far (I think) but i still can't stop dying and viewing the f***ed up game overs.

My best guess if there's only 1 in the series is to make it seem new. Like a pirate Mario game, if they call it Mario, someone might not buy it because they might confuse it with the original. The first new number would be Super Mario 4, but you may as well just make it 6 so that you're guaranteed to not have anybody confused about if they have it.
Let's be honest, when piraters made this it's obvious kids were the main obvious. With that being said, why did these twisted freaks make such a... disturbing Game Over screen?
Maybe we all just miss its deep meaning or some of the developers made a reference to his way of life? or is it the message to the player: "you messed up, now go kill yourself!"
This Game Over screen is one of a Mindfuck. I mean c'mon, if children would play this game and get game over seeing how simba hangs himself, wouldn't that be disturbing for the children?
Ah, that one. God, it was even more bad that when I saw the prototype, they wanted to make the character icon lose his skin when he gets attacked. This is even more bad because this was licensed and selled. The pirate ones are mostly unknown anyway.

Timon and Pumbaa actually can attack enemies WAY better than Simba in this game.
Timon: Throws Tomatoes, but if you're flashing, they don't work.
Pumbaa: Has 2 attacks, he can headbutt (equivalent of Simba's scratch) or Charge through everything in his path (most effective attack in the game)

Larvitar - takes out a Sledgehammer and smashes itself to smithereens
Beedrill - Sprays itself with a can of bug spray (brutal)

Roselia - Slashes itself up with a Machete
