I noticed that the picture, which shows all the planets in our solar system, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, etc. illuminates not the sun. From the sun why they are in the shadows and on the other hand, they have some reason to brighter:)
Very interesting video, I enjoy the information given in these lessons. I did feel as if half this video was repeating the notion of "mind-blowingly huge" concept of our solar system, which I appreciate being put into context but it gets old once it's repeated over and over again.

So times when I stare at the stars, I can't help but get dizzy and find my self in awe at such a magnificent galaxy, let alone universe we all live in. So small, it's most humbling. I mean not to offend anyone, but as my opinion, God truly is a masterful creator. no artist that has ever lived could render such beauty.
What is really humbling is realizing this massive distance is just ONE solar system orbiting ONE star. Keep zooming out and realize the Milky Way galaxy has 400+ BILLION stars with each likely having its own solar system. Then zoom out again and realize they're HUNDREDS of BILLIONS of galaxies in the known universe. That's just what we know with our current primitive technology. Our planet is not even a speck within these large scales and quantities. The Earth is all we have.
Why is it dark just because our planet is turned the other way? I can't get it into perspective that if the sun is so bright that can reach our Earth and make it so warm and light from so far away, wouldn't all around us have light from the sun too, even if the Earth is turned the other way?
How come our telescopes can see through the asteroid belt and Oort cloud? If they can take images of deep space, why do they only speculate there's an Oort cloud?
@SuzLa1 Space is really really empty. The sizes of things are extremely small compared to the distances between them. The asteroids in the asteroid belt are actually really far apart from each other. If you were on a trip to Jupiter, you'd probably never even see an asteroid unless you looked for one.
So the sun is 1 AU away from us and Jupiter is about 4? I would think that with that scaling we wouldn't even be able to see Jupiter at night, and the sun would appear much larger for that to be correct. Hmm, guess I have alot to learn :D
Because the sheer amount of space makes any collision unlikely. It is said that even if two galaxy's collided, as can be seen in simulations, none of the planets or suns would be likely to even touch one another - a few may, but the vast majority will simply pass by one another. Of course their orbits will be all messed up from gravity.. but that's another issue.
Yes, we will. But the word 'collision' isn't truly accurate to describe two galaxies coming together. As I said, because of the vast distances between planets and stars, even if two galaxies 'collide', very few of the actual stars, planets and asteroids within will actually touch one another. Their orbits will be messed up due to the gravity, but literal physical collisions are very unlikely.
@DeflocculatedDentist: I am not sure but I think for something to be considered a planet, its gravitational force around its center of mass has to be enough to form something that is perfectly spherical – so, essentially, the thing would have to be perfectly spherical body, which I am pretty sure Pluto is not. I am not sure though; have to wait for Sal to make a video about it.
@MarvelsofaLifetime That's not the only factor. It has to clear its orbit of the debris, which it hasn't done. It's primary orbit must also be the sun, but that's obviously the case for Pluto.
The international group of astronomers that handles defining astronomical terms and whatnot set up those three qualifiers for being a planet, excluding keiper belt objects and also that dwarf planet in the asteroid belt from being considered planets.
@hifhif123 That's right. The name "Kuiper" comes from the Dutch, where "ui" is pronounced like German "ei". Here's what Wikipedia says: 'The Kuiper belt (pronounced /ˈkaɪpər/, rhyming with "viper")'.
I remember in 7th grade (Denmark) we made a trip out of trying to visualise these distances and sizes with balls and by counting steps. I was blown away by the scale of things.
However, a funny thing to do afterward is to then look at a world map and realize that you barely moved at all. :)

6:17 It's not pronounced kweeper. You've got the K and the "per" part right, but ui is pronounced a bit differently. It's quite hard to explain how to pronounce it in Dutch, but Americans usually pronounce it like K-eye-per, I believe.
@CitizenNumber That's not the same at all. The Earth couldn't possibly, in any way, be flat. It's physically impossible. No life existing outside of Earth, however... That's entirely possible, albeit incredibly improbable considering all the stars and galaxies and planets that exist in our universe. Life happened purely by chance, so there is always the probability that life does not (yet) exist outside our Solar System.
I believe there must be life outside our Solar System, though.
@Shift4chizzle While I appreciate your ample responses and I see you make many assertions...even better you say there is "proof" that life didn't happen by "chance". I agree that evolution isn't about chance, likewise there isn't any evidence of an "intelligent design" either. I would like to hear what you consider proof of your position. As to your assertions pertaining to a huge conspiracy...I again would ask for evidence to support your claims, not cojecture...but real empirical evidence :)

@Shift4chizzle The teleportation assertion I know of...the instantanious communication of information over distance...the research is in it's infancy and fairly well distributed. It's base on atoms exchanging electrons simultaniously across distance...don't quote me on that though, I'm a little sketchy on the details. As to life being not by chance...perhaps you can clarify what you mean by that so we don't talk at cross purposes. I look forward to your reply.

@Shift4chizzle Of course it happened by chance... Chemical elements randomly got together and happened to complement each other (if you want to put it that way) and it evolved from there. By saying it didn't happen by chance, you're saying someone or something (say, a divine power) did it. And to my knowledge, there is no scientific evidence for such a power to exist, and likely never will be.

And another thing: I used to mix up the order of the planets Saturn, Uranus and Neptune. But I found an easy way to remember it: Take the first letters of those planets, so you can form the word SUN. ;)

Personally, I only know about the news not paying attention to technology, but I have seen plenty of stuff online that talks about latest tech, and when people talk about better tech than this, they usually either don't have a source or don't have a very credible one. I do know about a lot of tech, and what you're saying doesn't surprise me at all as it seems feasible. Would like to see a good source, though.

@Shift4chizzle Okay, but it seems to me that this isn't a very good secret if you, some guy on youtube, knows about it. I mean, the whole teleport thing being a little further advanced in theory is believable to me as I last checked on that years ago, but alien tech sounds a bit too far fetched. As for anti-gravity, I've actually been seeing stuff about that, and cold fusion. If your link does have secret tech, I hope it's better than that and I hope it makes sense. @Shift4chizzle I know that the government is not the best at keeping secrets, but if they wanted this stuff kept secret they're doing a horrible job of it. The way I would keep something a secret would be to leak stuff that I want to have known, some true and some not, as if this is stuff I want kept secret and not managing it. That would have people interested in what is being intentionally leaked rather than on what is actually meant to be secret.

However, even though I see no reason to think it's fake, I also don't see anything to confirm that it's true. If it is leaked info, though, I suppose that would be impossible anyway, even if I did know what exactly to look for. I think I'm going to keep an open mind about it for the time being.
@genobahamut1337 thanks for all the comments, and sorry i didnt reply to them earlier, but the reason u arent seeing any proof of aliens is for two main reasons maybe there are other reasons but i cant think of them now but the two are: 1.) al this has been kept secret for more than 60 years, 2.) u arent searching for it. if you search for the right stuff u will see MILLIONS of proof scientific and witnesses from military reports from all over the world.
@Shift4chizzle Actually, no, I have seen lots of "so called" proof for aliens. All that is ever shown is proof of us seeing something that we can't make sense of. That's not saying it's aliens. If we had proof of aliens, I would have definitely seen some by now. What we have proof of is unknown objects and technology which could very well be just our own new technology which isn't being explained or spoken about. The aliens thing is the cover story they pretend to keep secret.

The Earth already has an electromagnetic force field its the reason we aren't irradiated right now and its called Earth's magnetic field. I also believe its more powerful than anything we can come up with.

@Shift4chizzle First of all, I doubt that our tech could catch up to alien tech if that alien tech is far advanced to our own. Why would they stop advancing their tech and let us catch up? Even with us supposedly "reverse engineering" their tech, we seem to be advancing very slowly in gradual steps, like we would if we were the ones inventing it, which we are. On top of that, even if aliens were visiting us, it's ridiculous to think that all of them would be good.

What would make it convincing is presented evidence, which I certainly have never seen.

Very interesting video, I enjoy the information given in these lessons. I did feel as if half this video was repeating the notion of "mind-blowingly huge" concept of our solar system, which I appreciate being put into context but it gets old once it's repeated over and over again.

What is really humbling is realizing this massive distance is just ONE solar system orbiting ONE star. Keep zooming out and realize the Milky Way galaxy has 400+ BILLION stars with each likely having its own solar system. Then zoom out again and realize they're HUNDREDS of BILLIONS of galaxies in the known universe. That's just what we know with our current primitive technology. Our planet is not even a speck within these large scales and quantities. The Earth is all we have.

@SuzLa1 Space is really really empty. The sizes of things are extremely small compared to the distances between them. The asteroids in the asteroid belt are actually really far apart from each other. If you were on a trip to Jupiter, you'd probably never even see an asteroid unless you looked for one.

Because the sheer amount of space makes any collision unlikely. It is said that even if two galaxy's collided, as can be seen in simulations, none of the planets or suns would be likely to even touch one another - a few may, but the vast majority will simply pass by one another. Of course their orbits will be all messed up from gravity.. but that's another issue.

Yes, we will. But the word 'collision' isn't truly accurate to describe two galaxies coming together. As I said, because of the vast distances between planets and stars, even if two galaxies 'collide', very few of the actual stars, planets and asteroids within will actually touch one another. Their orbits will be messed up due to the gravity, but literal physical collisions are very unlikely.

@DeflocculatedDentist: I am not sure but I think for something to be considered a planet, its gravitational force around its center of mass has to be enough to form something that is perfectly spherical – so, essentially, the thing would have to be perfectly spherical body, which I am pretty sure Pluto is not. I am not sure though; have to wait for Sal to make a video about it.

@MarvelsofaLifetime That's not the only factor. It has to clear its orbit of the debris, which it hasn't done. It's primary orbit must also be the sun, but that's obviously the case for Pluto.
The international group of astronomers that handles defining astronomical terms and whatnot set up those three qualifiers for being a planet, excluding keiper belt objects and also that dwarf planet in the asteroid belt from being considered planets.

I remember in 7th grade (Denmark) we made a trip out of trying to visualise these distances and sizes with balls and by counting steps. I was blown away by the scale of things.
However, a funny thing to do afterward is to then look at a world map and realize that you barely moved at all. :)

@CitizenNumber That's not the same at all. The Earth couldn't possibly, in any way, be flat. It's physically impossible. No life existing outside of Earth, however... That's entirely possible, albeit incredibly improbable considering all the stars and galaxies and planets that exist in our universe. Life happened purely by chance, so there is always the probability that life does not (yet) exist outside our Solar System.
I believe there must be life outside our Solar System, though.

@Shift4chizzle The teleportation assertion I know of...the instantanious communication of information over distance...the research is in it's infancy and fairly well distributed. It's base on atoms exchanging electrons simultaniously across distance...don't quote me on that though, I'm a little sketchy on the details. By saying it didn't happen by chance, you're saying someone or something (say, a divine power) did it. And to my knowledge, there is no scientific evidence for such a power to exist, and likely never will be.

And another thing: I used to mix up the order of the planets Saturn, Uranus and Neptune. But I found an easy way to remember it: Take the first letters of those planets, so you can form the word SUN. ;)

I mean, the whole teleport thing being a little further advanced in theory is believable to me as I last checked on that years ago, but alien tech sounds a bit too far fetched. The way I would keep something a secret would be to leak stuff that I want to have known, some true and some not, as if this is stuff I want kept secret and not managing it. That would have people interested in what is being intentionally leaked rather than on what is actually meant to be secret.

If we had proof of aliens, I would have definitely seen some by now. @Svenskivsk the current-natural-magnetic field only helps stop all the infra red and any other radiation that comes from the sun and limits the amount that comes through because otherwise we would burn, but the artificial electromagnetic field which acts like a force field is designed to shut down anything from cars to aircrafts and obviously space crafts and also we are placing weapons in space, but these operations are all tryng to be stopped because the aliens that visit do not mean harm,

@genobahamut1337 also that is why it is called reverse engineering, they take the craft apart see how it works inside out and then build their own HUMAN craft. also PLF's they are clones of alien bodies but they are run by humans so basically the clones of these aliens are being controlled by people at a bas somewhere, and they choose the ugliest aliens & then they make them fly the human space craft and scare pple, abduct them & mutilate them to try and make thme think aliens are bad

@Shift4chizzle I know what reverse engineering is, but they could simply be calling it that to make us think alien space crafts are real things. As for the other part, that's quite a conspiracy you've got cooked up there. Sounds to me like something you would need a lot of proof to support, which I very much doubt you have.

@Shift4chizzle First of all, I doubt that our tech could catch up to alien tech if that alien tech is far advanced to our own. Why would they stop advancing their tech and let us catch up? Even with us supposedly "reverse engineering" their tech, we seem to be advancing very slowly in gradual steps, like we would if we were the ones inventing it, which we are. On top of that, even if aliens were visiting us, it's ridiculous to think that all of them would be good.

Maybe the reason they haven't hurt us yet is because they're not really there? You could very well be buying into a fake cover-up meant to hide the actual cover up, which is very likely what is happening.

@Shift4chizzle I never once said what I think. I know that it is nearly impossible for there to not be other life out there. I never suggested that we were alone in the universe. All I said was that there is no proof that whatever life may be out there has found it's way here. There is a big difference between saying that and what you just tried to accuse me of suggesting.

No. They, too, report about seeing, hearing and sometimes even touching god or seeing heaven. The fact that a lot of people believe it does not make it at all convincing. What would make it convincing is presented evidence, which I certainly have never seen.

In there defense, though, they kind of have to be. Especially since they're not even really in charge of things. Many times they are just puppets for the countries owners. The one to take the spotlight and the fall. The last president of the US I can be sure wasn't a puppet was JFK.

We definitely are able to save ourselves from global warming and everything else that troubles us to that extent, but we as a species don't care enough to actually take action and solve the problem. It's much more convenient for us to ignore the problems and let them kill the next generation.
