Just like in the film where Reavers have punched a hook through Jayne's leg. Everyone including the doctor completely ignores him, and Kaylee causes him more pain by oushing passed him to see if Simon's alright!
Jayne later betrays River and her brother in that episode. She probably got confused with the present and the future that she had foreseen. That's the problem with knowing too much.
I'd say one of the reasons he decided to betray her was because she attacked him.
Also, notice he's wearing the Blue Sun shirt, and she slashes that symbol. Also, when River ripped the covers of the food containers in a previous episode, those covers had the Blue Sun logo too.
@lauradeathtwo It's more like she hates everything connected with the Blue Sun Corporation, for which the two "Hands of Blue" men work (as Joss Whedon mentioned in the DVD commentary). It's heavily implied that the Blue Sun Corporation both essentially controls the Alliance and is the organization that runs the Academy (the "educational" institution River was sent to).

Well, that's my take anyway ... like he just stands and watches through the window when she's in the infirmary, looking so concerned, and that's really not like Jayne.
