If these mutations are beneficial then the genes acquired from it will be passed on to the next generation. gradually the resulting generations become so different that they turn into a different species altogether eg. humans.

There are two categories of bats, microchiroptera and megachiroptera. Microchiroptera being the smaller insectivorous species who use echolocation given the fact that they are nocturnal. And Megachiroptera, the larger frugivores, they rely solely on their eyes, as they do not echolocate, and without excellent eyesight they would starve.
