I.love fabtasy books. Like rigbt now I'm working on a fan fiction from skyrim and Iha e this one character that I'm sort of playing naned Annie who is a dragonborne and she meets 2 people named Aleks and Xyris who are also dragonbornes. ≈D
i'm writing a realistic fiction novel but i'm having trouble deciding if the whole thing should be 100000 words or just 80000. help i cant decide!!!!!!!
The method I do for writing books is simple. I plot out how many words I'm going to write in each chapter. write now I'm writing a book series for children its not thick. Its about as thick as goosebumps. I plotted out 15 chapters and each chapter is about 1,000 words.
ugh ive written and discarded so many stories its insane and ive always wanted to be a published writer. im still working on a novel myself. in fact, my last one i completely stopped at chapter TWENTY because i lost interest and it was starting to sound just like another authors book which drove me up the wall.
but i used to write a lot of poetry, still have the books, wrote journals, wrote songs, stories, lots of good stuff. im hoping to get published in my 20's since im 18 years old right now
I am a writer I am the process of revising my first completed novel it is 70,000 words...just revising is difficult iwth college and work so it is hard to make time for it. But hoping to be published within teh next 2 years :D I mostly like writing fiction since you can be more inventiive.
And also, I don't write any books but I hope to later on in my life. I'd like to write fantasy/romance stories, and I have plenty of ideas which I am writing down in a notebook TYVM :)
Haha, I laughed when you said "NOOO!" at the beginning. I also love cameras with epic video quality <3 Too bad I could never afford even a decent Canon camera.
I'm a writer :) I have written 2 poems-books and 5 other books :D
I love to write Fantasy since you can choose if you want the character to fly or not! Nothing is right or wrong when it's fantasy, everything is possible! I LOVE to write that stuff ^_^
My favorite genre to write in is probably fantasy/action/romance. I'm actually working on a couple books right now but with the new school year and everything I don't get much free time to write. Which is why I can't wait until I graduate so then I can write non-stop! :D
I've actually written and finished a book. It's a fantasy story but the problem is I wrote it in 6th grade. I am now a sophomore in high school and my writing has improved much from when I wrote that book so for years I've been editing the book to make it more interesting for someone my age because I really don't like the last draft. I am now working on a number of other projects.
I normally write realistic fiction type short stories, because I don't think I'm very good at fantasy, but I won like 2000 dollars for a science fiction story I wrote recently, so I'm thinking I may do more of that.
I'm writing a book at the moment of which I have high hopes to get published one day...so far its been a work in progress for 3-4 years. Its sort of an odd Y/A paranormal romance...spirits/ghosts and psychic stuff. My computer has been broken all summer...so I'm VERY excited to have it back now and continue working on this.
I tend to write dark stories, full of my strange dark humor. =D Even though I'm a generally happy person.
I totally failed NaNoWriMo last year but I'm happy to try again this year. I usually write romance and different POVs poetry and short stories from a guy and a girl. I don't plan on being a writer but it's fun to write.
I mostly write fantasy ... it's really my thing. But I don't have many ORIGINAL ideas right now, I mostly write fanfiction now. But I AM working/writing a novel that I plan to publish one day.
HEY KALEB! I do write...lol......about random stuff :P im writing a book at mo, but I hav a relli annoyin habit of having no time! cos of stupid homework! lol but.....I hav loads of ideas...gonna keep at it, I want ma writing out in the world! I also write poems, which I suck at but practice makes perfect! I just dont know how to even try and get published...LOL
I was writing a book, and it incorporated boarding schools, secret languages, different creatures, a badass protagonist, cannabilism, torture and all sorts of fun stuff. I was at about 263 pages on a word doc. Unfortunately my computer crashed and the only hard copy I had was given to a friend to read and he lost it. :(
I have about 8 stories I hope to get published. A few of them are basic concepts with some plot and main characters. But I have one that is finished and is going to be sent off to agents and publishers this month. There is another that is halfway done with 3 books I hope to finish after it. I prefer writing in a real world setting with fantasy elements rather than a full on fantasy world. But I have a few full on Sci-fi's.
I don't really think I am that good of a writer, but I seem to always come back to writing in some way throughout my years. I would write a lot when I was 13/14, then I stopped for years. I didpoems, short stories, and fanfics. Then, about 4 months ago after seeing a movie, I got an idea for another fanfic and I wrote a 9 chapter story (around 15,000 words). I really enjoyed the "deadlines" and my readers. The story was romance and adventure. I really wish I could think of an original story idea.
Personally I write poetry and usually I become inspired to write when I am emotionally traumatized like when I experience a bad breakup. It gets pretty depressign lolz
Me, I tend to write mainly fan fiction, but there is one fan fic that I'd actually love to expand and make a novel out of. I'd change the characters of course, and what helps is it's already an AU fic, so while I have the same character names in this fic, they are a bit different than the originals.
I just made an account on NaNoWriMo and I put Bran Hambric as one of my favorite novels and on my bio I said that I found the website from the amazing vlogger and author Kaleb Nation. Haha l0l thanks Kaleb for helping me find it!!!
I always wanted to be a writer but I never seem to be able to finish anything :( I guess I get uninspired easily I dont know. I always start out with a vague idea of the plot but maybe I should plan it out better before I sit down to write it anyway, I want to right young adult fiction and I definately hope i will someday get published that would be awesome.
This is my third year doing NaNoWriMo. I've hit the 50,000 word line the past two years but last year was my first time actually finishing a novel. This NaNo I'm writing the sequel to last years' and finishing the editing on the first book so that I can start sending it off to publishers. Of course my family will probably kill me if I keep withholding the first book from them so they'll get some copies as well when its done :P Can't wait for your pep-talk Kaleb!
I love NaNoWriMo, great inspiration and insentive to write. I fail horribly at it though. Lol.
How long after you first got published did it take until you could live off of your earnings? How much do you get for every book sold? How often is the income? (I want to make it my career, so that's why I'm asking a lot of "personal" questions, but bounderies were made so that they could be breeched. :D)
Like plagues and cities burning down kind of disaster. It's bad. I shouldn't be allowed to hold a pencil or be within one hundred feet of a piece of paper. :/
I've already joined NaNoWriMo for this year, it's going to be my first year doing it as well. I normally write a variety of things. I often write poetry to express how I feel and my main story ideas normally contain fantasy and adventure and occasionally horror. I'm hoping that if I focus enough I may be able to write at least one thing that's worthy of being published. Good luck with your quest for the best seller list :)
Yer i write. i'm trying to write a story to get published cause my English teacher said i should. i useally write Fantasy like magic and stuff. and i had an idea but when i tried to make it fantasy it just didnt work so im writing it as a normal story but its so hard not to go "And then she got super powers"
well, I write scripts sometimes for movie's that me and my frinds make then out on youtube or send to competitions, but mostly i like to film and direct
I do write sometimes. :) More before than now. I have college classes that take up all of my time. I used to write more short stories, either scary, some dream I had, or a few coming of age ones :P Now, I mostly jot down short poems and songs. My college English teacher knows that I am a pre-pharmacy major, but she is constantly telling me that I need to write. x) Good luck, again with your quest to the NY Times best seller list! :D
I tried NaNoWriMo last year. I did it for the first day...but then totally had no idea what to do. :P I can't ever think of original ideas. Oh well! Maybe this year will be more productive.
I mostly write fanfiction of my favorite celebrities. Haha. Lame, I know, but I enjoy it. And I have to start somewhere. Writing practice is writing practice, right? I'm not that bad either, if I do say so myself. haha. :)
I have a lot of ideas in my head, but i dont write them down. Im not really a writer kind of person. Im more into performing and music. I like reading thoi!!
Wow, it just hit me that you're on your THIRD novel. For some reason this just seems like a bigger milestone for me that a second book, no idea why :). My question [hope you'll answer it]: are the bran books going to keep getting thicker and longer, as the harry potters did, meaning there is a lot more material to write, or will books 7 or 8 be rather thin, like the percy jacksons?
And how did you come up with the name Bran?
PS I write magic and melee fantasy, since you asked ;D
WHEN DOES YOUR TOUR START????? I NEED TO KNOW I WANT OUR SCHOOL TO SEE IF YOU CANT VIST US! Yes i write fantasy :D I love magic it fun to live in that world when you write...
I had this alien story that I started writing 6 years ago. It was lame, had no plot, and was completely for fun. :P
I've tried to write small chapters of stories at a time, but I can never get a hold on one specific idea. I'm waiting for that moment when I'm excited to write what I have in my head. :)
WHAT i like to write Kaleb Is MYSTERY and stuff about old MYTHS. I am 13 and i am writing a novel write now when i am done writing it am going to send it to some agent on this website. Yea i hope i can publish before i get out of school in 12th grade
I tried NaNoWriMo last year and failed....i got about 27000 words in I think, but it was a crazy year for school..im gonna try again this year, but i feel as if this years gonna be crazier with my workload (2nd year of college afterall) but imma try!
I like to write FanFic (mostly Harry Potter although I did write a Twilight one as well) and just like Young Adult, teen fiction novels :)
I think that you are right, all the people that is watching this are young writers. YAY!!
I've just started writing poems, songs and my book!! but I'm just at the begining so I'm dealing with the writer's block...I still hope that someday I can be were you are right now :) u r awesome!!
Can't wait to get your pep talk in November! But is it only going out to the people in YWP, or will the participants from the regular NaNo get to read it, too? Also, in response to your question, I like to write poetry on all kinds of topics, but the stories I write are mostly fantasy, and almost all of them have magic. Only one doesn't so far because it's a paranormal story soooo.... yeah. -MAP
I had started a book about a "holocaust"/ gov. conspiracy fiction. I really wanted to finish it but I felt like I could never extend on the scenes that were happening, like detail, ect. I would go back and start adding stuff and then I would end up changing everything. It got really frustrating. I bet you go through a lot of the same things when you're writing too, what do you do to expand on scenes you have written in the Bran series?
After watching this video I sighed up for national novel writing! I'd heard of it before but had never done it, ideally in the future I'd like to be where you are now; a published writer. And this is a step in the right direction. Thanks!
I'm enjoying the videos. So - hang up some strange posters, words, pictures in the background for your viewers to enjoy. They'll have to watch the videos more than once to catch everything you've filmed.
My name is Emily and I'm 14. ;) I usually just write fanfiction and poems. Mostly Twilight FF's and poems about my life:) I did type out an excerpt from my newest FF about the Cullen's and Bella during the Holocaust but it was too long... Message me and I'll gladly tell you my story!
I'm writing a Robin Hood series. The research is all done, I found all these "How it could have happened" bits in history. I hope it does get published, but for now the characters need to be able to speak their piece
I mostly write fanfiction cuz i jus luv putting other characters in to diff situations :D I did write like a 10 chapter story...i luv it lol hvnt had anyone else read it...maby if im lucky one day I can expand on it n turn it into something cool...other than that...i jus luv writing songs!
Greetings, I'm 14 year old Rajesh(rah-jay-sh)Motie(mo-tee), one of many (as in two...) from NaturallyGamers. I write reviews for books and movies. I post them online, but only on Amazon and the Chaoticgame forums. My question is, if I want my reviews to be noticed more, what should I do? Like start a blog or something? 0__o If you type "Chaotic Rajesh Reviews" on Google you should be be able to find my reviews, and I go by Rajesh Motie on Amazon.
Fellow writer here...screenplays actually. I even contacted your agent last week with a collaboration proposal but was turned down due to my lack of produced material, which I understand, of course.
But maybe someday, when I'm produced (absolutely possible in the near future), I'll get to write Bran's screenplay. :)
I write fantasy filled with mythological creatures and try my hardest to do my homework on them. For the most part, I have plots and story-lines, I just don't want to end the little books that I write. I want them to keep going and going. My weakness is finding an epic scene and stopping. :)
I write love stories just cuz im a girly girl like that ^_^ but i've stopped for a while :/ busy busy life :( I hope to start writing again. but recently ive had a lot of random ideas but have had trouble extending to stories
I mostly write fantasy and young adult for my original works and for my fanfiction stories I write Batman Begins/Dark Knight and Heroes. But in general I try to write whatever genre I can get my hands on.
So I signed up for the NaNoWriMo site. I guess I wasn't paying attention to what it said and when I got the email from them, I found it said, "Well, you did it! You've gone and pledged to write a novel in a month." My reaction: falling off the chair in shock. Since when did I pledge this? I mean, I am a young writer, but I just assumed you meant that we can just post like a random novel or whatever, not that we had to do it in a MONTH. What have you gotten me into, Kaleb? O_o
in 3rd grade (im in 9th now) when the summer olympics where comming up in athens, i wrote a poem that my teacher as well as my mom loved. i have really tried since then. your inspiring me to try to write thought
does you nanowrimo pep talk page get sent to the both the young authors and the older/adult writers? because i signed on with the older one and i still want to get your pep talk!
YAY! Nano! This will be my third year but I do the "normal" (i guess?) nano, not the young writers one. :( I got so excited that I'd get your pep talk!
I'm currently writing a novel for the young adult audience. Its an historical fiction/mystery/romance/fantasy/home problems novel. I've been writing it for quite some time now. I have about 30,000 words on it so far.
I've written many different things. Short stories, poems, article, just small things like that. I also started a novel back when I was 13 but I've matured a lot so I've had to change the story multiple times. I hope one day that my story will get published, but since I'm only 16 and have a lot of life ahead of me, I'm sure it can happen :)
Dying Breath is such a beautiful song... I listen to it all the time. I always get goose bumps when I listen to it. (I always do when its a song that I love.) <3
CHILLA!! Aww<333 She's priceless.[: What time are you going to be on Blogtv? Iv been there the last two times... and im still trying to get my mom to buy the first and second Bran Hambric books for me[:
I've written a lot of different stuff. I wrote a novel(It's 250 ish pages long and in the 4th draft) I also have STARTED a bunch of stories but haven't finished them. And I've written a few short stories, I think I have 5 or 6 total, and I have a buttload (mid 20's) of poems.
The stories i attempted were fantasy. I tried a story about a supernatural boarding school.
Then i tried a story about a half demon named Scarlet who was searching for her father.
Then I tried a story about a girl who lives in the human world but it actually the heir to the Faerie empire & she was placed under adoption cause the Pixies (who are evil faeries) were trying to destroy the Royal Lineage so they could take over.
They all died on paper but the last one survived the longest.
Strange enough, I began to entertain the idea in my head, writing down as much of it as I could on scrap paper, not full descriptions, but just enough so I remembered. I dreamt about the characters until the characters became real people to me. I couldn’t shut up about them. Then this summer I decided to make it into a book. I have written parts of other stories as well. I would love to be a published author someday, not as a profession but a hobby. I want to be a psychiatrist.
I've written a lot of poetry. I loved it so much because it helped me express myself in colorful ways (no profanity). Just this summer- well a little before summer really- this idea sprung into my head about these awesome versions of angels that was just out of this world. Now usually, I get tons of silly ideas in my head or I just pretend that my life is a book itself and make it like a documentary in my head. But I couldn’t let this story go.
I've participated in nano every year for the last three years but I haven't won yet. Oh well, I'll participate every year, regardless of if I win or not. I'm currently writing a story with a friend (technically it's considered a RP but it's much more like a novel) and we're at ~60,000 words and still going strong with lots of plot left. :D
Oh that's amazing that you're are going to be doing a pep talk for NaNoWrimo. I like to write fantasy but I think that I might try to do a mystery this year for Nano.
I'm a writer. I've written poems, short stories and currently trying to write a novel. Knowing it is probably hard to make a living off of writing, I'm taking a professional writing program at my nearby college in hopes of building into a workplace I can write for and then write for 'fun' in my spare time. :)
I have this hilarious mental image of a proper English butler named Jeeves cleaning your house in the background while you're dressed as Captain Martinelli doing something crazy on camera.
I'm writing a book about Demons (its a love story) and I write fanfic :) but with all the homework I am getting, its been hard to find time ;( how can I find time? HELP KALEB
BTW, you didn't mention it was Bella's birthday today :O hahha
OMG KALEB, MARGARET PETERSON HADDIX (NY TIMES BESTSELLING AUTHOR, 2ND FAVORITE AUTHOR EVARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR) DID A PEP TALK FOR NANOWRIMO LAST YEAR AND AND AND AND IT'S AWESOME TO KNOW YOU'RE LIKE TOTALLY DOING IT THIS YEAR.
But I won't be in the Young Writer's program this year, I turn 13 in October, before NaNoWriMo, so no more YW program. But I'll make an account just to see your article... :)
OMG YOU'RE WRITING A PEP TALK????? THIS SHALL BE THE BEST NANOWRIMO EVA
I did NaNoWriMo two years ago (and I wrote all 50,000) and I'm currently working on another book. I've done short stories, mostly in writing classes i took at sumer camp. Most of my stories are fantasy, but take place (partly) in the real world.
Hey Kaleb, got a few questions for ya: When you were in college, what was your major, and how did you balance your college workload and other activities with writing for Bran Hambric? My friend and I started writing our novels as college freshmen; now we've graduated, but we still haven't finished our manuscripts. We were science majors, so that didn't jibe with our novel-writing so well. As a fellow writer your age, I was hoping you might impart your wisdom in this juggling act of school & ink.
I've written 2 novels in the past two years or so, and I'm currently writing a 3rd one now. I love writing fiction, especially things about magic. Although mine is a bit darker than you'd expect xD
Chapters is mean, they won't order Bran Hambic for me! No book stores near me has it! Not even libraries! :( and shipping is too expensive for online.
I love writing and I love these video's after I always feel like writing more....What software on your computer do you use when typing up your stories? x x x
For stories I haven't really written alot, but I'm doing NanoWrimo so hopefully I will change that :). Also I've had a poem published in an anthology but that's all I've done
Do more videos about writing. Captain Martinelli is kind of entertaining, but I'm honestly only subscribed to learn more about writing and the process of it.
I've actually recently gotten into mysteries. And not like the old Sherlock Holmes novels, cause those are kind of boring. Like CSI in book form. That's the kind of cool stuff I like to write about. It's fun because you get to decide WHO DID IT and no one else knows until the end, and they're like "WHHHAAAATT??!!!" XD
And I tried NaNoWriMo once before... but I couldn't find any guidelines on what to do, so I failed. O_O How does that website work?
Oh yeah. I just pre-ordered TSK last night! AND got TFC from the bookstore yesterday too. Reading it for the 3rd time (! got it from the library a few months ago)!
Yo Kaleb! I wanted to leave a comment to your question about our writing in your video. I, myself, have been writing, well...my whole life. It wasn't until high school that I actually discovered that I have a great talent for it so I decided to train that and make it into something bigger and better. I have filled up booklets full of poetry and journals, I've written between 6-10 short stories(Don't really remember.), and I have been working on my own book for 3 years now. Writing is my passion.

It gets pretty depressign lolz
shurtugal1993 1 year ago
Me, I tend to write mainly fan fiction, but there is one fan fic that I'd actually love to expand and make a novel out of. I'd change the characters of course, and what helps is it's already an AU fic, so while I have the same character names in this fic, they are a bit different than the originals.

I had started a book about a "holocaust"/ gov. conspiracy fiction. I really wanted to finish it but I felt like I could never extend on the scenes that were happening, like detail, ect. I would go back and start adding stuff and then I would end up changing everything. It got really frustrating. I bet you go through a lot of the same things when you're writing too, what do you do to expand on scenes you have written in the Bran series?

Fellow writer here...screenplays actually. I even contacted your agent last week with a collaboration proposal but was turned down due to my lack of produced material, which I understand, of course.
But maybe someday, when I'm produced (absolutely possible in the near future), I'll get to write Bran's screenplay. :)
Cheers!

I write fantasy filled with mythological creatures and try my hardest to do my homework on them. For the most part, I have plots and story-lines, I just don't want to end the little books that I write. I want them to keep going and going. My weakness is finding an epic scene and stopping. :)

AButterflyDreams 1 year ago
I've written a lot of poetry. I loved it so much because it helped me express myself in colorful ways (no profanity). Just this summer- well a little before summer really- this idea sprung into my head about these awesome versions of angels that was just out of this world. Now usually, I get tons of silly ideas in my head or I just pretend that my life is a book itself and make it like a documentary in my head. But I couldn’t let this story go.
