A. Guilmant definitely ranks among the best composers of organ. Comparable to J.S. Bach's organ works, I would argue. Guilmant wrote many complex pieces, with no doubt a lot of emotion and fire behind his ink pen. May Guilmant rest in peace.

I keep coming back to this video as a benchmark example of what happens when technical ability accompanies musicianship: there are two many examples of the former without the latter. He even makes the quiet chorale-like bit in the middle (that seems obligatory in French pieces like these) interesting. A brilliant performer.

This made me think of a comment a friend made to me as we watched a very talented musician play. He said "You know that guy is really a great technician; knows his chord structure and progression to a tee. But, the music doesn't flow through him".

Well... I think we all know the complexity & difficulty of this piece. You burnt the keyboard, set alight the pedalboard and had me swinging off the chandillier. I've ever only heard one other organist play this as you have with gusto, profficiency, and articulation and that was Terry Ryan -Hays in Melb, Australia. As for me, ill keep on hacking away at this one. You depicted the passion most of us still feel in what we play... BRAVO! VERY NOEWORTHY RENDITION.
