Oh my goodness! I never realized that Bobby McFerrin was the son of this man. I used to listen to him as a child! I loved his songs and his voice! I'm blown away!
@kadoguy2006 A million thank yous, for putting together this great musical tribute to one of the great voices of the twentieth century. I had the good fortune to share quite a bit of time with Mr Mc Ferrin in St. Louis, Mo. He was an incredible man with a gift for singing that became more amazing each time he opened his mouth. He could blow you away, with his powerful sound and intrepretation of both operatic literature and most especially Negro Spirituals.
Too bad "the Met" had/probably still has such fears and America such hate. I think fear of competition as well; remove the competion (Mr. Mcferrin) or prevent it then there is more chance for others who look the same.
You should hear his arias and you will see other singers could not surpass him unless he was removed or prevented from participating. Such a waste!!! Inspite of all this he made a great name for himself.
Thank you so much for posting these four beautiful songs by Mr. McFerrin. I had the great honor to study singing with him in the mid 1960. The beauty and power of his voice often moved me to tears. He had such talent. He sang at the Met and also sang the role of Porgy in the Dorothy Dandridge/Sidney Poitier film version of 'Porgy and Bess" . He received little or no credit for singing the role as Poitier "lip-synced". I am thrilled to know that these four wonderful songs remain. Thank you.
like father, like son!!!!!
