  • You signed the contract. Can you read? Life is life, cry baby. Get a job

  • I can hear your dog!

  • I've been laid off for 14 months now and we called our Mortgage company for help and guess what they refuse to help us. My wife signed the note on the mortgage stating she would pay it back. Some companies will work with you. All's you had to do was call Directv about the service issues and ask them to fix them. You couldn't have been that busy to where you couldn't have stopped and called.

  • Sorry about all that happening to you. However When you signed up with Directv, you are AGREEING to a 24 month contract with them regardless if you signed anything or not. When you called to install the service did they rep not inform you of this? It's on their flyers they send out. You could have checked online about if Directv requires a contract, could have asked anyone you knew who has Directv? You could have even called them and asked before signing up? You have nobody to blame but you.

  • they screwed over my brother by not giving him his hd box when he specifically asked for hd and refused to comply

  • they are machines no heart no compassion only we want your money give to us now

  • and how do you expect anything to be waived if you're not calling in to notify the company of the issue. and maybe.... if you've lost your job. its not such a good idea to sign a contract. duuuurrrrr

  • LOL. READ YOUR SERVICE AGREEMENT. DUMB

  • @justforthesims If you listened to even a tiny bit of this video, you would have heard that I NEVER SIGNED AN AGREEMENT. There was NO NOTIFICATION OF TERMINATION FEES, and I never SIGNED ANYTHING.

    DUMBER

  • To the direct tv employees, he never said it was Direct tv's fault he lost a family member and his job. Things can happen, you can sign up for a service and be able to afford it and after something can happen to make you no longer able to afford it.

Be that it as it may, I for one will never sign up for a service that requires me to sing a contract, if I can help it. I would rather pay a higher price and be able to terminate my service anytime I want.

  • Furthermore, companies like Direc Tv are doing themselves more harm by locking people in contracts and then charging them an early termination fee. Companies should lock customers in by being competitive and providing excellent service and competitive prices. The company can possibly make more money off of a person by doing this. If you are providing excellent service and a person is going through financial trouble, work with them and allow them to cancel without a fee.

  • Then they are more likely to do with you again because of how well you treated them and therefore, the company will make more revenue in the long run off of that person.

  • Okay, this is hilarious, so because you didnt complain enough, you expected to get everything free? You expected us to believe everything you said, we have customers call in lying about deaths, not wanting to pay there bill, please, its not our fault you lost your job, yeah maybe you did loose a family member but i dont see how that is our fault please explain this to me.. if you can't afford it dont get it DUH! go ahead and go with a competitor lol I want to hear what you say after !

  • DirecTV sucks!

Scam artists. Their CSRs LIE all the time.

  • If the accound holder dies the agreement is waived. If you have tech issues and 2 field techs fails to find a full line of signal (wich you aprove by checking image before tech leaves your home) your agreement is waived, if your in bankrupcy you only have to prove your financial state and your account will be closed with no more debt, if you need some time to get things better, you can suspend your account up to 6 months... well, I think those are some options to the issues you mention

  • @Trobit Oh, and I'm not trying to be mean, by the opposite, I'm just trying to give options to anyone who reads this... Actually, IDK if you still having issues with your DTV account, but maybe you can call and solve this issue. If you're that sure you never agreed the terms and conditions (I'm pretty sure you did since every sales call includes a full reading of terms and conditions, or else the reps gets some bad consequences), you can sue the company and wolve the issue... sorry for your lost

  • such cold blooded people

  • If you agreed to the installation is because you should be aware of terms and conditions, If you dont know the terms you dont let the technician put the dish in the roof, cmon. directv waives early cancellation fee by technical issues within the first 90 days of service and by military deployment, if you have a death in the family you have the option to suspend your acct up to 6 months, I have tried different satellite tv companies and dtv is the best is not a dream but is better than others

  • First off how is it Directvs fault that your family member died? secondly how is it our fault you lost your job? How is it our fault that you cant afford directvs services we specifically state when you turn on your services of early cancellation fees and so on and so forth we try to work with you as much as possible and i dont see how its directvs fault that you cant find a job and pay...yeah sure go ahead and go to any other company and they will probably screw you even more and worse...

  • @jordanrie How in God's name can you justify a 450 dollar termination fee for 1 month of service?

    Are you serious?

And then to charge 450 dollars when there was never a contract signed that stated there was a 450 dollar charge.

    Really....

It's one thing if I agreed to those terms, I didn't. I was never told of them, I never agreed to them, and I never signed a contract for them.

So how can you possibly think it is ok to hit someone with such a huge charge with no agreement made?

  • @seandelevany Actually, you are told about ALL terms and conditions when you order the services, it's just like when you install any kind of software, people is so excited about new service that doesn't give the proper atention to that kind of stuff and only click on "I agree terms and conditions"... actually your can enter directvdotcom/agreements and read a full copy contract... you don't need to sign it because it's recorded during call that you agreed, prove enough during courth

  • @jordanrie ... And if he finds a company who gives him free satellite tv, he should let us know.

  • @jordanrie wow your an idiot my father has spend 4 years in college and has 26 years in experience and he can find job for a year and a half now what do you say about that

  • State and DirecTV reach $13.3 million settlement over deceptive sales The Attorney General's Bureau of Consumer Protection, along with 48 other states and the District of Columbia, has reached a $13.3 million settlement with DirecTV over claims that the satellite TV provider engaged in deceptive and unfair sales practices.

  • @AlanAldoBiagoPalazzo How shocking!

Deceptive sales practices....noooo, you don't say.

To all the idiots who have been posting responses that justify direct tv's actions, what do you have to say now?

  • I know shit !

  • It's not Directv's fault that your a fucking retard. you fucking faggot. pay the ecf bitch

  • @seanhop20 f u

  • @seanhop20 There is an intelligent argument.

  • Oh Boo hoo!

Why is it Directv's fault you had family issues, lost your job or have no money?

You should have thought of that before you ordered and signed your contract.

  • @metro25dish If you paid any attention to this video, you would realize that I NEVER signed any contract, nor was there EVER an explanation of termination of contract. So, no signed contract, no disclosure of termination fees, and 750.00 termination charges for 2 months of service.

You got a real convincing case there

  • Respond to this video... If you paid any attention to this video, you would realize that I NEVER signed any contract, nor was there EVER an explanation of termination of contract. So, no signed contract, no disclosure of termination fees, and 750.00 termination charges for 2 months of service.

  • they also took money out of my account unathorized debit, now I can not afford to keep power on or feed my children. thank you for making this video. I hope that things are looking up for you .

  • NFL SUNDAY TICKET, That is all I have to say. As long as you pay your bill on time, they wouldn't give you a problem. Those contracts are locked in for 2 years, but what are you gonna do. Just keep up with the bills.

  • Seems a bit one sided. I work for one of the major tv companies. I gotta be honest, most people never read what they sign. Not a personal attack but, understand we got people calling in everyday trying to nickel and dime and make shit up. There's no way we can tell whose telling the truth and whose lying. Only resource they have is to look at the account, and see what has been documented. Yeah we all got lives outside of TV, and things that are more important...but you gotta be practical.

  • People always claim, "i was never told about this or that fee". Yea some agents fuck that up,..however, all those fees and charges are in the work order/customer agreement/residential agreement, when you sign the damned thing. Do you really think someone is going to give you hundreds of dollars of free equipment, without covering their ass? I remember when you had to BUY all your equip, no leasing for Satellite. Talk about pricey.

  • "People say, well y'all need to do the right thing", What is that? Im supposed to work for free? Or lose my job and give you an adjustment which by you not calling in, I can't justify. Or worse you curse me out, when I'm just working 9-5 like you. But I gotta catch your attitude over a policy I did not create. And if I dont enforce that policy, I'm unemployed. People say customer service sucks, a business is only as good as its customers. And bad customers, fuck it up for the good ones. ALWAYS.

  • No one in America works for free. But when it comes to retail/customer service, one little thing everyone wants like 2 months of free services or product, for going without for a week at best. As far as cancel fees goes, could they have adjusted that? Maybe, but we need more than "your word". 100 million pay-tv customers, not everyone is honest. 70% customers are honest. But that 30% can have you on the bread lines if your not minding the mint. People dont QUIT customer service, they BURN OUT!!

  • Sean, I was wondering if you would consider joining the Facebook fan page I created called DirecTV sucks. I would appreciate all those who have commented to post their stories on this page, hopefully we can get enough dissatisfied customers to get noticed!

  • @Aria1844 Send me the link at delevan.Sean@gmail.com

  • Sean, I've created a facebook fan page called DirecTV sucks, would you consider joining it. I've already posted your video on it.

  • I don't get it....everyone complaining about Directv is just too stupid to read the agreement before signing up for their service. Its all there in the fine print.....it's YOUR responsibility to know the terms, so stop crying about it. If you're so worried about food and other bills, why are you signing up for satellite TV when you can't afford it?? No sympathy for you

  • @wazzumichael I agree. a company as big as directv will surely sign you up with a commitment. That is for the company's security. In addition, if you're not going to use the service, as far as I know you can suspend it for a maximum of 6 month with no charge. also, if you dont want to pay much, you have the option to downgrade your package. I bet you're not looking for service.

  • @wazzumichael What part of "there was never an agreement stated or signed" that you are refusing to understand.

I agree 100 % that if I agreed to the terms, a deal is a deal.

  • @wazzumichael agree brother! DIRECTV has been awesome for me and my family!

  • @gunner0322 that's great! I've been with them since 1996....no better service out there.

  • I've dealt with countless companies- public and private- I have never seen or encountered the deception insincerity and obvious lack of high moral ground or ethics that this company has exhibited-- if I hadn't experienced it first hand I wouldn't have believed it:::: even if I dreamt it-- You have to experience it to believe it --- but don't go there in the first place! --We were hoodwinked!!!

  • yes! thank you! my grandmother (rest her soul) was paying 68 dollars a month with no hd service and premiums. and the worse thing was thing was all the channels loop. my aunt still have direct tv, with hd and premium and pay around 108 a month. now since i dont have the serivce no more, i went to time warner, and im paying 86 dollars a month and it includes HD, hbo, showtime, starz & including dvr and i couldnt ask for a better service.

  • you verbally agreed to a 12 month contract on the phone and signed a 12-24 month contract depending on the receivers you got. a contract is a contract.. you electrical co. wont cut you a deal for having a death in the family. come on man

  • @chaosad33 Listen to me very clearly, I NEVER, EVER, agreed or signed a 12-24 month contract.

  • Now since I can remember DirecTV has always had a 2 year contract for new installs that are free. I have been an installer for over 6 years and yep even back then they still had 2 year contacts. You dont have to have a 2 year contract provided you give $750 to have the system installed. How do you think a cool smart phone, DirecTV, Dish Network, and any other expensive hardware becomes free? DirecTV also has a service called account on hold just in case you have these issues.

  • I have NEVER signed a contract either, and now I have to pay the price 400 US$ Early Termination Fee. If not, they will charge my credit card or send my account to collection, which will eventually ruin my credit. What a 'civilized' and 'decent' way to treat a customer. Maybe, like Sean I've learned the hard way. This company is SCAMMING people and they are getting away with this. I even asked them to pay the ETF monthly, but NO... They want it all upfront. Tough luck for me :(

  • They tried the same crap with me as far as charging the credit card. The only problem was that they did not know that we did not have one on file. If not, they would have automatically charged it and I would have no recourse.

We should gather a lot of people who have been affected and make a serious complaint. Better yet, a civil suit or something.

  • Why would you not place a service call? Since it was within 90 days of your 'install' there would be NO charge. And if money is tight, lower the package. All you are required to do is keep ONE receiver active at the base package price. They are not a bad company, but cancelling early is different than trying to fix the system or financial problem bro.

  • i am a dtv rep from billing. we provided you an agreement before we install your services. we give you a lot of options to manage your account.

  • I can guarantee you that there was never an agreement signed or agreed to. Even with that being said, is it not a little bit ridiculous and inhumane to charge such an exorbitant fee especially considering the circumstances?

Mind you, the equipment was already set up from the previous owner so there was no installation..

Come on, give me a break

  • @seandelevany its your responsibility as a consumer to research the agreement contract of said service. how about you don t be a dumb ass. did you call you cell phone company and tell them you couldn t pay your bill im sure they said oh thats fine, go ahead and go we won t charge you. or maybe if you were smart you would have just dropped your package down to family which is like 14 bucks a month, stop being such a homo and man up to your mistakes. and don t use death as an excuse for sympathy.

  • @sirushimself

I once canceled my cell phone company due to not having very good service where I lived and they didn't charge me a dime after they verified that I had poor cell reception. So your argument holds no water. Why can't Direct TV do the same???? Its all corporate BS and taking advantage of their customers.

  • @Sariahmoonrider

You can take that agreement and shove it right up your ass and Direct TV's ass. You people have no mercy for anyone. Screw you and your agreement. When I canceled my service I took your agreement and wiped my ass with it!

  • you have to read the contract.

  • I absolutely agree with you that you have to read the contract. I can not speak for anyone else other than myself when I say that there was NEVER a contract signed or agreed to.

Direct TV came, installed the service, and gave us a bill.

I can guarantee you that Direct TV does not have a contract with my signature on it because it never happened. So, we were never made aware of the terms and yet we got raped anyway.

Also, how do you justify 450 dollars in termination fees?

  • You need to read over your contract you signed with Direct TV.

  • Better is Time warner cable or att u-verse no fee!

  • past liver

  • I've think all satelites companys sucks! I had dish for 4 years and after time I notetice they do over charge..they don't give u Hd like they advertice...and directtv has work for me good enough..so dish sucksssss

  • I'm tired of Direct TV. We lose signal when it sprinkles, they charge us a fee to buy a new receiver when ours broke itself, and with the money that we are paying now, we could have more channels and HD and DVR with Dish Network. I can't wait until our contract ends the March so we can switch.

  • if you wanna cnacel direct tv heres another way disconnect your satelite throw away the set top box/boxes and when the bill comes then just dont pay

  • This is what it really comes down to, its the luck of the call. If you get a good agent on the line, they will help you out. If you get a bad one, try to work around it. New customers get the shaft sometimes, but there are other options available like putting your account on suspension and downgrading the package, I had to go through it when my dad got laid off as well so I hear ya man. All the calls I made into direct tv, you can just tell which ones are willing to help and which ones arent

  • There is no excuse for what this company is doing. 450.00 Dollars for a termination fee after 60 days of lousy service and the death of a family member?

Sorry, I have to disagree with you. They ran this by 2 Supervisors and they all said....

The hell with em..make em pay

I will be the one laughing when this story is aired on the cable networks and how Direct t.v. treated us..

  • Well they prorate their disconnect fee, it starts at 480 bucks and goes down 20 per month of service left on the 24 month agreement. I mean if your circumstances would have arisen in 18 months into your cycle, youre only looking at 120 bucks of a disconnect fee. And they would probably be willing to negotiate your services down for that time. Look I understand your frustration, and maybe if your frustration means you'll be happier with dish, then go with it.

  • Because everyone deserves the best they can get out of any service.

  • @seandelevany No company is going to let you cancel service with no charge if there is a death in the family, UNLESS the person who died is the account holder. That is the ONLY way you can get out of a contract with a death in the family.

Btw, my condolences to you and your family.

  • lousy service is right... first dusting of snow tonight and no tv... winter is gonna suck with direct tv

  • @gtcivic3 It all has to do with the installation. If you have an awesome installer who truly knows what he/she is doing, you can actually bypass the bad weather and not lose signal. With that being said, check your dish often, if it is covered, you will not get any signal.
