This aint no demo- Its just a track that wasnt included in the album back then, and was later recovered to be included in one of the compilations...Exactly this mix...
One of the rare true 4 beats fill up roots songs Bob Marley has, the other maybe roots rock reggae, burning and lootin, kinky reggae and some few other songs.
@808SoulRebel808 "They"(Babylon) really are taking down as many versions of this song as they can. All of bob's lyrics have meaning. I think Mr Marley is saying that african americans (pinky dreads) are the roots of human civilization, and i would agree since the origin of man has been traced back to africa (sorry creationists go read a bible or something) he says "I and I are the roots" I believe I and I is a reference to all of us. Instead of saying ":I and them" It shows we're all connected.
@GodGunsnMoney actually i have to correct myself...i was trying to be politically correct but ended up being wrong. he doesn't mean african americans, he means blacks. mr marley was a jamaican so he simply means all people with Dark skin are close to the roots, but he also is trying to say we are all I and I, and we have been seperated from the love of our father (God) (Zion). i dunno that's one white man's opinion, feel free to correct me, but i feel marley was all above love, god, and humanity
why is there not a better recording of this song on you tube?
