  • Hmm... It's like a Christmas present for yourself! LOL DOG WIZ

  • FelineFantsy,

Funny thing, even after all these years, I never thought of it that way until now. It's cool because there's a surprise element too, with most of them anyways.

  • LOL I wasn't sure if all that money is worth a random bag, but you have no idea what's in there and it's kind of exciting! Who knows what wonders lie in wait, within the Grab Bag!?

  • Awesome haul! I wish they had this kind of thing here in the States. If you ever decide to do this again, be sure to wear your new jacket, sweater, and muffler.

  • Why would you pay 100 dollars and wait for so long in the cold for a bag that might be worth more, but you have no idea whats in it?

You could have paid 100 dollars for a nice shirt + the rest are useless ugly clothes that you wouldn't wear.

Luckily it looks like casual-good looking clothes, so you had a good result! Nice :)

  • That's all very good reasoning. In retrospect, yeah I would have been better off paying four times more total and not freezing my ass off. Still, trying to get one of them LL Bean bags had been on my to do list for a decade. Now I don't have to wonder anymore.

  • Yeah I agree, It's a one time thing to see what the fuss is about.

    I enjoyed the video!

  • Sweet! I love surprise things like that, I get kinda addicted to them actually. I can totally see myself picking up a few bags at least.

  • I think it's about 40000 yen :)

  • Ten years ago at Uniqlo or Muji it would have been 4000 yen.(*^o^;*)

  • some good stuff you got there. Definitely dig the jacket!

  • S'alright. Keeps me warm. Not nearly as fashionable as some of the loot that was in the store and not in the bag, of course.

  • At least you know what all the fuss is about!

  • Ayup, now I do.

  • There are a few words I just can't believe are real in japanese. マフラー and how ever one says "racoon" which starts with an ア. I think i heard you say "mafuraa"...

I heard about these things. Pretty cool.

  • Really? Yeah, it's entirely possible. Whenever I go back to the States I always have to watch what I say, make sure I don't slip into katakana-speak.

アライグマ is what you're thinking of, so named because they wash their food before eating when they can. (洗い熊 ), also a direct translation of the Latin name for the animal, Ursus Lotor (washer bear).

  • stalk stalk stalk email....

Now I will never forget araiguma. hooray!

  • Gasto is great. Their mayonnaise and corn pizza isn't bad either! :p

  • What low minion of hell dare speak of such blasphemy as corn on pizza!

Heh. Sorry, there are just some things I'll never adapt to. I've lived hear long enough that the right girl in the right schoolgirl outfit looks good, but I'll never be perverted enough to like corn on pizza. :-)

  • Hahaha. That one made me spit out my drink!

  • Great Video!

  • Thankyouverymuch!

  • 2 stars for freezing you arse off, but I added 3 stars for "Dog-wiz"!

  • Wonder if they know? I should go ask.

  • that was nice, good for You!

  • Nice perhaps, but not too bright.

    :-)

  • oh, I'm sorry, could You explain, in what way "not too bright"?

  • English metaphors often use light or darkness to express intelligence or stupidity.

"not too bright" or "dim" is another way of saying "stupid." :-)

It wasn't very intelligent of me to show up early at an LL Bean without anything to sit on and without anything to put over my legs. I should have planned better for the cold, and for staning a long time in one place without anyplace to pee.

  • Oh, I get it now, thanks for letting me know. I needed to clarify since I could think of several interpretations. The 3rd part of Your reply made it for me. As for the light and darkness based expressions of one's intelligence or stupidity it's pretty much the same in Polish language:)

  • Damn, babelfish doesn't cover Polish. Otherwise I would have given you an interesting response.

    :-)

  • Crossed my mind you might have been doing an all-nighter. But you seemed so alert! Have done it here in Fukuoka for the Yamakasa festival, which starts, if I recall correctly, at 4:59 am. An amazing experience. The surreality definitely augmented by the late boozing to fill the time before the event.

Don't know 109. Pretty sure I would know of it if we had it here.

Really enjoyed your description of the novice-level pseudo-homeless rigs. Ha ha!

    Always enjoy your stuff.

    Cheers man!

  • More like high from lack of sleep!

109: if you ever see footage of Shbiuya crossing, look up a street to the left of the biggest screen -- not the pedestrian only street, that's Center-gai, but the actual street just to its left -- and you see a silvery cylindrical bulding, that cylinder is the front of 109.

Just behind 109 are several live houses (venues), several love hotels, few clubs, and a good chunk of Tokyo's sex industry. I have personal knowledge of only the live houses. Really!

  • You young guys have impressive resources.(I was once as young as you, so I know. :)

I loved Tokyo the several times I visited. But perhaps, because I lived in London before I came here, and originate from a small city, Fukuoka is ideal for me.

Will check out 109 next time I am there.

Took my younger sister to Ginja, among other places, when she was here.Had a blast!

Fukuoka is nice. Great food. Good environment. Great people.Laid back. I hope you will be able to make it down here some time

  • for me those crazy kind of sale are never worth it... ill find what i need at a convenient time, and shop around for good prices...

  • Understandable. After seeing what was in the store for retail prices versus what was in the bag, sleeping in, not freezing your ass off, and paying more when you know what you're getting is very competitive.

Funny thing though, I've been ordering from LLBean since before they had a Japanese catalogue. My first credit card in Japan was from the LLBean in Kabukicho which is no longer an LLBean. Getting one of them bags has been on my to-do list for years. Now i don't have to do it again.

    :-)

  • I give you 5 stars just for getting up that early. Man!

But that was interesting. Have never done the grab bag thing.

For the experience, and the goodies, seems to me totally worth it!

    Thanks for sharing.

  • Actually I stayed up all night. Internal clock was way out of whack after the XXX New Year's Eve countdown. There's better ways of doing it.

    (*^_^;*)

Just reminded me, the night before this video I saw young women camping outside of 109 in Shibuya. Cardboard boxes taped together around them like they were homeless, except the tape jobs were shabbier. Novice-level. :-)

  • Hey lets head to the "dog-wiz" for a drink! Losing the fight with the bag? lol cool gifts

  • Yah, the loot was alright. :-)
