Accept that we have different tastes in music and that everyone defines genre differently, making them both relative to the listener. Social D will rock whether you call them Cowpunk, Rockabilly, Punk Rock or Rock 'n roll.

I think of punk as a specific sounding genre of music and I just do not hear it in Social D's sound. There should be a template to the music.
@rjplamf61 Ah k. This is a thing that changes from person to person. I'm of the view that punk is in the attitude and feel of the music and not just a musical template. I reckon if you say that punk is just a template then some of punk's greatest songs don't fit the bill. 'London Calling' for example. So I think that Social D fits into the punk field because they have a punk outlook and have their roots there. The music isn't that far away from classic punk either; just speed it up a bit.

There are so many theories out there about who created punk music from the early Who to Iggy Pop to the Ramones to the Pistols. @izzgndsra I hear you izz, for me it was in 1990 after my wife decided to leave. I was on my way home to end it all as I was listening to my Social D cassette. "She's A Knockout" with it's awesome bassline played and instead of ending it all, I stopped by a pawn shop and bought a used bass and amp. I guess God really does work in mysterious ways.

I think of punk as a specific sounding genre of music and I just do not hear it in Social D's sound. There should be a template to the music.

@rjplamf61 Ah k. This is a thing that changes from person to person. I'm of the view that punk is in the attitude and feel of the music and not just a musical template. I reckon if you say that punk is just a template then some of punk's greatest songs don't fit the bill. 'London Calling' for example. So I think that Social D fits into the punk field because they have a punk outlook and have their roots there. The music isn't that far away from classic punk either; just speed it up a bit.

@TheDavelogan I agree. It is an attitude and feel and that to me is very agressive, fast, non melodic, anti whatever lyrics with alot of angst. There are so many theories out there about who created punk music from the early Who to Iggy Pop to the Ramones to the Pistols. There is a interview with Johnny Thunders (one of Mike Ness' heroes) and he says in it, "I despise the term punk, to me, it's all rock 'n' roll. It thought that was an interesting statement..

@izzgndsra I hear you izz, for me it was in 1990 after my wife decided to leave. I was on my way home to end it all as I was listening to my Social D cassette. "She's A Knockout" with it's awesome bassline played and instead of ending it all, I stopped by a pawn shop and bought a used bass and amp. I guess God really does work in mysterious ways.

@Seizre technically speaking that would be "attempted suicide" but all the same, social d has helped me through some hard times as well, when my fiance left me i ended up pretty much stumbling around in a stupor for several monthes, the only thing really getting through to me was mike ness, and then when i found out she had a new bf i tried offing myself, but again mike ness saved me
