Thanks for providing this delighful clip from one of my favorite films, and the lyrics in English and Espanol. This tune was also played in 'My Darling Clementine' during the first half hour....but it was in the background and was an instrumental version.
I love this movie. Tyrone Power plays it right down the middle, confusing everybody about his (how can I say it?), preferences. Beautiful Linda Darnell, in one of her early roles, tries to deal with her own impulses. Fun stuff for 1940. Not to mention the best swashbuckling sword fight that has ever been put on film, between Hollywood's best, Basil Rathbone and Tyrone Power (and not ridicuously speeded up).
Wow, I saw this movie when I was a child and I remember loving it very much. I too wish there was an english translation for the song - I would teach it to my munchkins. What a great find, thank-you very much for posting this!!!
Gracias for this delightful clip from THE MARK OF ZORRO with Ty Power and Linda Darnell. Don't they make a lovely couple?! I only wish I there was an English translation of the lyrics. Lovely song. One of my favorite scenes from a wonderful movie

@km1500 No, this is the 1940 version, so it is "The MARK of Zorro" not mask.

Lyrics in english:
It's possible, my father,
that I have to suffer
and to frighten
by singing to a woman.
Let me dress my white hat.
Let me dress my blue hat.
Let me sleep in my arms as a child,
let me sing arru arru, arru arru.
"Venga las patas abajo" -legs go down- is a mexican coloquial expression to "have fear".
