@EpicMixTV no i didnt even go to the Navy at all i decided i wanted to be a Marine and its the best thing thats ever happened for me. im loving it right now
Not sure if anyone has said this before, but you can't drop a knee or sit down during the push up challenge. Those are good push ups though and without the perfect push up handles you can probably do more like 50 or so. Keep working. I'm aiming for 70 in two minutes myself by the end of the year.
If you go to the Navy Seals Fitness Challenge website you will see that the definition of a pushup essentially requires that that the elbows break a 90 degree angle on the way down with full extension at the top. This makes sense because a thin guy/girl would have to go much lower than a large person in order to "touch your chest to the ground." That is not required.
@navysealdavid Just so you know, body builders usually don't make it in BUDs. If you really want to be a SEAL you have to be 110% sure that it's really what you want to do. SEALs need to be able to handle their own body weight really well, guys who have a lot of muscle mass on them usually have trouble in BUDs.
I give you props cuz you used those perfect pushups which are like 3x harder then normal pushups, try decline pushups, what i do that works!! is max out on diamond pushups, then max normal pushups, then max wide grip and i mean WIDEEEE if you do that at least 3 times a week your max pushups will increase 20% I promise. I want to be a seal also, my max pushups are 54 and a month ago it as 43. also try and do the seal fit challange, thats the closet you can get to a day in the life at BUD/s
@bbtsba how about handstand pushups against a wall...? You're also forgetting pseudo planche pushups. I think the Navy seals should do away with the regular/standard pushup and move onto the pseudo planche or "hip" pushups b/c those are much more challenging especially for the wrists.
@navysealdavid If you do 42 pushup's at Prep-BUDs you won't be going to BUDs, everything you do at Prep-BUD/s is competing with the rest of the guys there to get a spot in BUDs.An this might sound bad but if your coming home from school an lifting weights for an hour your not working out for BUDs, I don't know what your training for.You don't lift any weights in BUDs!You need to be doing pushups, pullups, ropeclimbs, swims, an runs.Thats what alot of BUDs consist of...Anyways Keep working Fellas!
Well the idea of "minimum" is exactly that. You need to be able to do 100 at least to have a good shot a becoming a seal. Good luck with meeting your goals.
Keep working at it man, what MOST of these people say is true. You want to try touching you chest to the ground when you exercise but I haven't seen a video where they make they're chest touch the ground either. Just make sure you can touch that SEALs fist if he puts it under you. during the PST. And keep in mind that you will be doing after your 500 yard swim. Just keep working man, I see you in the Teams...HOOYAH!!!!
@SEALTEAMSPARTA yeah i have the counter push for the perfect push ups now and after every workout im sore just because i go down way further now but thanks
yo man, i use the perfect pushup and I go down way further than you are in this video. I'm not trying to be an ass, but they won't count pushups like that in the Navy. Also, I'm going to OCS in a few months, and the minimum we have to do is 47 in 2 minutes for my age group (20-24). I did 60 and was proud of it, but the kids who become seals have no trouble banging out 85, 90, or even more than 100 using correct form. You've got a long way to go.
SEAL push ups are chest to the ground and then up until your arms are straight. Head should be looking forward and know putting your knees on the ground. Dont get to hung up on being a SEAL, try your hardest but dont be surprised if you dont make it in the future. SEALs are one in a million.
@UKskoalMan i already said my knees dont touch the ground; i'm not an idiot, i wouldnt even post a video if they were touching the ground. its only my shorts touch the ground and ive look so many things up for the seals and seen seals in person your chest doesn't have to touch the ground you have to go down to a 90 degree angle and extend back up and im also using the perfect push ups so it would be a little harder to make your chest go even further.
@navysealdavid Well, having a Navy SEAL as a son gives you a bit more insight then you might think. My son has been a Navy SEAL for 5 years and when he went to BUDs they made his chest hit the ground. Plus, i like what DrLafranz said below in the comments.
@UKskoalMan all the videos of the seals i watch on their site, i don't see any chest hitting the ground if you want to go look some up and ill just make another video that shows what you want to see.
@navysealdavid Thee Navy site also tells you that you can be whatever you would like to be in the military, yet that is not true. I dont see why you feel the need to argue with me. But in any case, my son is a SEAL and he has been through BUDs, and that is reason enough to believe me. Also, having your chest hit the ground will make you even stronger and will make 90 degree push ups a lot easier.
not only did you do the minimum ... you spent most of the video sitting down.... dont think about being a seal.. kid.. when your onlly focused on the pushup portion of the fitness test. ..
when you take the pst you aren't allowed to drop down from the push up posistion, if your knee touches like that on the ground its considered a failure.
If your asking if you did minimum then you already dont have the mentality of a Seal. But who knows keep working and you'll get there you never know. Shoot for over 100+ push ups....Just takes time anyone can do it.
did you to the swimming 500 miles part in under 10 minutes before this ?

Well "touching you chest to the ground"
Thats complete bullshit you need to have your chest 5 - 10 cm over the ground thats how real push ups are done
