Romans 8:1-2 says, "Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit of life set me free from the law of sin and death."
What is the law of sin and death? The 10 Commandments. How do we know we sin? By the 10 Commandments. What is the verdict? Death! The wages of sin is death (Romans 6:23). So is the 10 Commandments nailed to the cross? Of course! We are set free from it!
The 10 Commandments is a testimony of death or "ministry of death". But now we have a new covenant {a better one}; this is the gospel--the ministry of life.
2 Corinthians 3:6-7 says, "He has made us competent as ministers of a new covenant--not of the letter but of the Spirit; for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life. Now if the ministry that brought death, which was engraved in letters on stone, came with glory, so that the Israelites could not look steadily at the face of Moses because of its glory, fading though it was,".
Notice. Verse 7, "which was engraved in letters on stone". The 10 Commandments kill us, instead of giving life.
This is why jews will never accept Yeshua. It's because christians teach that he did away with the law and the Torah says anyone who does that is not of YHWH.
Deu 13:1 “When there arises among you a prophet or a dreamer of dreams, and he shall give you a sign or a wonder,
Deu 13:2 and the sign or the wonder shall come true, of which he has spoken to you, saying, ‘Let us go after other mighty ones – which you have not known – and serve them,’
Contrary to what SDAs believe, there isn't a distinction between God's Law (the Law Of the Lord) & the Law of Moses (see 2 Chronicles 31:3, Nehemiah 8:8 & 18, Luke 2:23-24).God gave various commandments ( including the Ten) from Exodus Chapters 20-23 & after that, Moses wrote down ALL of them (THE TEN INCLUDED) in a book (see Exodus 24:4-7).
in adding to your note of psalm vers.. please note also psalm 119:151 ..all thy commandments are truth!! it says ALL thy commandments not some but ALL THY COMMANDMENTS are truth and we know by john14:6 Jesus is the truth! so Jesus IS the commandments which he did sum up that by keeping ALL of the commandments you will, in effect, love God with all your heart strentgh and soul and your neighbor as yourself ( Jesus did raise the standard for what each commandment defined ie (murder is hatred)
6This Ezra went up from Babylon; and he was a ready scribe in the LAW OF MOSES, which the LORD GOD OF ISRAEL HAD GIVEN: and the king granted him all his request, according to the hand of the LORD his God upon him.
This is the only law Moses gave.
Matthew 19
8He saith unto them, Moses BECAUSE OF THE HARDNESS OF YOUR HEARTS suffered you to put away your wives: but from the beginning it was not so.
19Whosoever therefore shall BREAK one of these LEAST commandments, and shall TEACH MEN SO, he shall be called the LEAST in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall DO AND TEACH THEM, the same shall be called GREAT in the kingdom of heaven.
3)future fulfilment of the last 3 appointed times. Pentecost was fulfilled after Jesus ascended on Pentecost. Fire fell on the original Pentecost and the law was given to Moses. Later, we received the Holy Spirit on Pentecost. Etc. etc.
Thanks for your discussion too and for being so sweet :-) What religion are you? I see some videos from 7th day adventist on your site. Are you 7th day? Good sabbath to you. Night.
2)knows the day or the hour So I think this is quite interesting. The Day of Atonement is a day of Affliction and I think of Judgement Day. Sukkot would seem to point to the time when Jesus will dwell with us on earth during the 1000 years. I see the original reasons for celebrating and the fulfillment later in Jesus: Passover lamb and escape from Egypt/Jesus Passover lamb escape from bondage of sin. With each feast there is a past observance and a future fulfillment, which is why I still see
1)Religion: I'm a believer in Jesus. I was raised on both the old and new testaments. I believe Jesus is the promised messiah and the living son of God. I am trying to follow and obey Him as best I can. When I fail I go to Jesus my Savior, Sacrifice and High Priest for cleansing. That's the best way I know how to describe my walk/religion:-)
Jesus said He will come on a day that 'no one knows the day or the hour'. The Jews refer to the Feast of Trumpets as the hidden day that no one
C)I just want to add, I really am not trying to irritate you. You put together a wonderful video on the character of law and God. It was very good. You had some great info. I'm not sure that you have actually read the bible through or spot picked? You will find the feasts and appointed days occured on certain days of certain months. The first 4 were fulfilled to the day and hour of those days, months and even hours,--the month of the last 3 feasts/days Jesus had already ascended. Sincere bless.
BTW Boltingpuppies,thank-you4 the comments,I know ur not trying to irriate me,just a simple discussion:-)
With that said,of course I have read the bible through...And of course I know the feasts occured on certain days(God specified that to Moses). But my husband happens to be an ex-jew,so I know all about those traditions too,& the 3 things u talked about earlier are now just traditional ceremonies 4 the jews....
A)I'm sorry, I'm not trying to be unkind. You need to study the feasts and appointed days from the bible. See what they were each about and then how they were fulfilled. You're missing some things and adding in others. Study from Moses on through Jesus. Also, if you read Acts and Paul's epistles carefully you will see that Paul still observed the feasts.
Jesus comes immediately after the tribulation, we rule and reign with Him on Earth for 1000 years while Satan is bound in the abyss. cont.
B)Then after the 1000 years is over Satan is released to once again deceive mankind (there will be people on earth who were not raptured or resurrected who populated during the millenium who have greatly multiplied). Those people who have not yet been 'changed' or resurrected, will revolt against Jesus' kingdom on earth and they will be destroyed and then the Great White Throne judgement will take place. At that point death, Jesus' last enemy, will be destroyed.
1)Have you studied the feasts and appointed days in detail? I ask because the last three: feast of trumpets, yom kippur and sukkot have definately not been fulfilled yet. The 'last trumpet' also called the 'hidden day' will happen at Jesus 2nd coming. Yom Kippur will follow within days of that and Sukkot will last for 1000 years. The first 4 feasts and appointed days were fulfilled to the exact day and even the exact hour. That is why we believe the last 3 will be fulfilled in the same way
just out of curiosity what religion are you? Cuz these 3 things that you are talking about are just jewish traditions. They no longer have anything to do with the bible, they are plainly just traditional things that have been passed down. For instance, do you know what the sukkot really is? (its a "celebration of the tents", tradition since moses' time). So technically, those weren't really done away with, but nowhere in the bible does it say that we should still be keeping them... ;)
Sukkot is just a celebration of how God provided for Israel for the 40 yrs of wandering in the desert, simply just tradition...
As for yom kippur (originally known in the bible as the day of atonement,) has now just become all about tradition cuz the jews don't believe in the Messiah, therefore they still need a way to forgive their sins. (once again, are you familiar with this? its done at the synagogue and you chant your sins so that they can be forgiven).
So, for those of us that believe in Jesus Christ, we don't need to continue to celebrate yom kippur because we have Jesus who died on the cross to forgive us of our sins :-)
As for the fesat of trumpets, its explained in Numbers chapter 10. We no longer need to celebrate this because the trumpets were blown over the sacrifices, which were sacrificed to God for forgiveness of their sins. Once again, we no longer need to keep this because we have Jesus to forgive us of our sins, and he paid the ultimate sacrifice for us (so that we no longer have to sacrifice lambs).
BTW, are u referring to the 3 Angels' messages in Revelation blowing the trumpet?
Sorry I have so many questions for u, but where do you get the "hidden day" from? Revelation makes it very clear that there is nothing secret, or hidden, about Jesus' 2nd coming... Oh,as for the 1000 yrs, where does it say that Jesus will be on earth? We will be in heaven with Him, its Satan that will be left on earth with his unholy angels...(Rev. 20:2-7), but all of the sinners will be dead, so satan will have nobody to "tempt".
then, after the 1000yrs, WE will come back to earth, the devil will be released, and then after satan and his followers try to take over the "city" (which will be brought down from heaven,) God will destroy the devil and all those who arn't saved, with fire. Sorry so much info, I can give u all the verses to back this up, if u would like...
1)Agreed. I find it interesting that both circumcision and the feasts will be taking place during the millenium. Currently Paul says Jews are still to be circumcised in the flesh but Gentiles are not. YET in Ezekiel 44:9 YWHW says no one will enter His sanctuary who is not circumcised in BOTH heart and flesh. Also 7 feasts are a shadow of Jesus' coming. The first 4 were fulfilled in His 1st coming and the last 3 will be fulfilled in His 2nd coming. cont.
2)I don't understand why we still wouldn't want to observe them seeing as how they point to when Jesus will actually come. Sometimes I am not sure we read Paul correctly on some these things. If these feasts are a shadow pointing to Jesus' coming, then why in the world would we not be observing them since the last 3 point to His 2nd coming?! Blessings
Paul is reiterating why we no longer have to keep those sacrifices and ceremonies. Once again, just as Paul said "that better thing to come"(Jesus) already came(the 1st coming,)and sacrificed His life for us,so we no longer need to keep any of the ceremonies/sacrifices, from the OT.The 2nd coming has nothing to do with any of those sacrifices, because He is only coming back the 2nd time to retrieve all of us believers :) (that's why we know they don't point to the 2nd coming)Does that make sense?
In answer: 1.When u say "millenium" I'm assuming you are talking about the 1000 yrs w/Christ in Heaven?
2. Where does Paul say that? After Jesus, there was no seperation between the Jews and Gentiles, we are ALL God's people...
3.Ezekiel 44:9 is talking about the "earthly sanctuary", read Ezekiel chapters 40-44 and it explains the exact dimensions and details of this temple and santuary...
2)Q1 When I said 'millenium' I was referrering to the 1000 year reign of Jesus and his saints on the earth as described in both the o.t. prophets and Revelation 20.
Q2 Paul says it in a couple of places 1Corinthians 7:17-20.
Q3 Exactly, Exekiel is describing the millenial temple on earth.
I don't understand how 1Corinthians 7:17-20 is saying that the Jews and Gentiles are still seperated?... It says that we no longer need to be circumsised, that that doesn't matter to God anymore, just keeping His commandments!
Also, the only temple on earth was the one during Moses' time!...
However, like I said earlier, the holy city (or new Jerusalem,) will come down from heaven to this earth AFTER the 1000 years of reign in heaven with Christ. (Revelation 21:2,3 and Zechariah 14:1,4,5,10)
I'm not saying the Jews and Gentiles are 2seperate at all. I'm saying Paul said to stay however you came to Christ. If you were circumcised (jew) you were to stay a jew, if you were uncircumcised (gentile) you were to stay a gentile. He says this a couple of times because some of the jewish believers of his day were telling the gentile believers they had to be circumcised and observe the law of Moses to be saved.
There have been two temples on earth so far and a 3rd one is predicted.
4. ALL of the "feasts" were fulfilled by his 1st coming. (keep in mind, the OT was written BEFORE his 1st coming, so anything in there is "leading up to" his 1st coming and not His 2nd). They were "a shadow of better things to come" Meaning that Christ would die on the cross so that we don't have to go through those sacrifices and ceremonies anymore cuz He IS our "sacrifice"
3)Yes, we no longer need to sacrifice. The sacrifices never took away sin, they were just a shadow of who was coming and what He would do for us. But as far as observing the appointed days, we see that sukkot, the last festival, will be celebrated in the millenial kingdom. These last three observances, trumpets, yom kippur and sukkot must still be played out. Anyway, lots to think about! Fun to discuss. Blessings.
Actually 4 the Jews during Moses'time,God told them to make the sacrifices to take away their sins, the first few chapters of Leviticus talk about exactly how God wants them to do it. But specifically Leviticus 4:2,3(I'm going to paraphrase...)"If a person sins unintentionally against any of the commandments of the Lord..."(verse 3)"then let him offer to the Lord for his sin which he has sinned a young bull without blemish as a sin offering." So,yes, the sacrifices were"a shodow of things to come"
I see that the law 'of sin and death' was done away with. I see this through Jesus, meaning that I sinned and the ordinances say there must be death for that sin and Jesus paid the price of death for my sin. I don't see that the food laws have been done away with when I read Isaiah 66:17. This talks of Jesus 2nd coming and it seems clear that He still does not approve of certain meats being eaten as food. It just doesn't seem like He takes pleasure in us eating such things. Just my thoughts.
You are right on with that... He does NOT "take pleasure" in us eating certain products and that's why that "law" hasn't changed... It was only the laws that "foreshadowed" Jesus at the cross that were done away with, these included the sacrifices, circumcision, ceremonial days, etc, etc. But laws regarding the foods we eat still pertain because we still have the same bodies that they did in the OT, so the pigs for instance still are NOT good for us to eat! Does that make sense?
Jer 31:31-34 foretold that God would make a new covenant & put his laws in hearts. This new covenant consists of Christian laws, many of which come from the Mosaic Law!
Christians are not under the weekly Sabbath, but we learn from it and avoid materialism. Christians enter "God's rest," which is an everyday Sabbath. (Heb 3 & 4)
Anyways, I mentioned all this on your other videos.
The bible is very clear that we should still keep the weekly 7th-day Sabbath and Revelation 22:14 makes it very clear that we will be keeping it (and all the commandments) in Heaven...
As for the "new covenent"-IT IS JESUS!. God sacrificed his own son so that we no longer have to sacrifice the lambs in order to forgive our sins...Even in the verse you gave me (Jer31:31-34) God says that "I will put My law in their minds, and write it on their hearts." (verse 33)-so even here He is saying that His law (the 10-comm) will still apply when he sends the "new covenent" :)
BTW, can I ask you a question? If you don't believe that this "new covenent" was Jesus sent to save us from our sins... Then what was it?
Also, the verses in this video.. Colossians 2:14,16-17... What do you believe that they are referring to since the Ten Commandments DOESN'T fit it at all?
You divide the Mosaic Law into 2 parts. Jesus never did that. He included the 10 Commandments in the Law. So did the apostle Paul. (Matt 5:21-42 & Rom 7:6,7)
Deut 5 states that God made a covenant between God & the Jews ONLY. This covenant included the 10 Commandments. These commandments were ONLY for the Jews. The Jews broke the covenant by their disobedience.
Roxxoxo, once again did you watch the whole video? I am not the one seperating the two DIFFERENT laws-the bible does! It's very clear that God had his law (given to moses, but written by God,) and Moses had his laws(written by Moses, but inspired by God.)
2.God's law was placed INSIDE the ark, but Moses' law was placed on the SIDE of the ark
3.God's laws were written out of love for us,as a foundation for our lives, Moses' laws were written for the Isaralites (and Jews,) as a precept "for the good things to come" (Jesus)

36Master, which is the great commandment in the law?
37Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.
38This is the first and great commandment.
39And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
40On these two commandments hang ALL THE LAW AND THE PROPHETS.
Is this written in the book of the law or the 10 commandments?

Also the bible says "Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the spirit of God dweleth in you?" (1 Corinthians 3:16)
And "Do not touch what is unclean and I will receive you"(2 Corinthians 6:17)
So if we eat "unclean" meats then the Holy Spirit can not dwel within us...

continued...

Yes, and I replied to it on my other vid... ;)

Sorry, meant to say that I'm not trying to put you on the spot, I am just curious...
Thanks ;)

1GoodAngel 3 years ago
Three things differenciate these two laws
1.God wrote his law, and Moses wrote his laws
2.God's law was placed INSIDE the ark, but Moses' law was placed on the SIDE of the ark
3.God's laws were written out of love for us,as a foundation for our lives, Moses' laws were written for the Isaralites (and Jews,) as a precept "for the good things to come" (Jesus)
