The HDD warning happens only with hard drives that are not "approved" by IBM. That being said most new HDD will trigger the warning and it doesn't mean anything at all. There is an aftermarket BIOS that addresses the issue, but I haven't tried it. And of course it's available online, just put a search, good luck!
I own 2 of these T43's and it only costs USD $180 to own one now. Nice and clean notebook. No scratches, no shiny part on the keyboard. Hinges are tight and steady.
I to have an IBM t43! The best hard laptops :) it's great. I have an XP on this machine and it runs fast!!! I always wanted a ibm product so i have it :) cheers!!! my friend!
I did not know that IBM T43 was a Lenovo...I thought Lenovo's first T-Series of Thinkpad was the T-60. Please correct me if I'm wrong. Lenovo is made in China.
@japanempirefree How could this possible? IBM (US) trade secrets. It was their last line of Thinkpad. Lenovo China tookover after this and their first T-series was the T-60 which was built with more computing power but was not as beautiful as the T-43. T-60 is even more thicker than the T-43. Why is this so?
At the time I recorded the video I was still waiting for the caps to arrive from the supplier, the buyer of that ThinkPad got his at the time of the purchase.
The noise comes from the autofocus, is't a little annoying but not terribly distracting to miss the purpose of the clip, which is to showcase the ThinkPad T43.

excelente video, gracias

Hi, how did you get that HDD warning to go away? Please help me. I mean my computer works but it shows a HDD error although it does boot up.
Thank you.

In a sleepy US economy, apply the sufficiency economy philosophy.
Stop spending money that you don't have...Credit cards included.
Why does one need Quadcore just to open a single Word document?
Is everybody playing heavy 3D games?
