  • I thought of making something like that but drills are shaped so freakin weird it's impossible to make a bracket that'll hold one straight and secure.

  • I used the gear template generator at woodgears.ca. It is a very easy to use program and available for free on the website.

  • im pretty sure i know what you used to make the gears but did you buy his program or what???

  • Thanks for the comments. I used the gear generator at woodgears.ca. I wanted something big enough so that I wouldn't have to turn the handle too many times to move the drill up/down. The gear generator is easy to use, just remember to plug in '0' for the part that will be on the faceplate (pinion). Size of the 1x4 depends on the range of motion you want as a longer pinion provides a greater range of motion. It is really simple, really. What you see in the video is pretty much all there is to it!

  • Also what are the sizes of the gears you use and the 1x4s...I really want to but one of these.

  • Man I would love a tutorial on this.I want to get a table top drill press just for hobbies, nothing major, and they are $120...I am going to make one of these, but the only problem is the gears..I have to make some.

  • Nice.
