  • Where was this recorded? Defiantly my favorite song from alice cooper group!!

  • I saw the band in Hartford Connecticut in summer of 1972. My first music concert ever. What a show!!!

  • Outstanding audio. The early videos clearly show Alice as a natural showman. Amazing and brilliant as the band was, Alice wanted the next level. That"s where solo careers begin.

  • well that sucks they forgot to turn the light on for this show

  • @jindigger LOL, nice :)

  • I think that the other band members should have recieved much more credit. Glen was a wonderful guitarist, Neal was a wonderful drummer...Why didn't they get noticed as much? Just because they weren't up front??

  • I photographed Alice in 1974 and 1977. To see the shots go to ianmarkmusicphotos (.com)

  • I know one guy that described to me what it was like seeing them back in the late sixty's as a bar band, all the leather and cool old vintage analog amps and what not, and I know another guy that worked at a radio station that interviewed Alice at that same time back then, and he said he touched Alice Cooper's shoulder so some of that "Star Power" might rub off onto him. They don't make bands like this now a days. That;s for sure.

  • i agree with custom 400 alice cooper was whole members of the band not just alice

  • Alice Cooper turned out to be Alice Cooper. We all loved the original band but we were intrigued the most by their lead singer Alice. The fans and the band should appreciate the man, Alice Cooper, for keeping it going for so long.

Long live the Coop!! Thanks for the ride.

  • to be honest this sucks i love the song but not the live one

  • Seeing Alice and the band perform the KILLER album in 1972 was their finest hour imo. By 1973, the Booze abuse had taken 'something' away from the perfect performance that I saw in 1972 in Dallas. Alice + the Band = The Best that AC has EVER been a party to !

i agree but was lucky enough to catch him live in 1972 when hey v were still = GREAT!

  • original band phoenominal!

  • Bitchin'...

  • Halo of Flies gave me the right Pair of Shoes to Walk into Progressive Rock World ///

  • i love the outro guitar solo. just melts my brain. Alice Cooper (the band) had some of the finest instrumentalists ever put together some of the finest instrumental pieces ever.

  • I The Love Alice Cooper Group.

  • They pulled the video!

  • Major kick ass song....love it

  • alice is a genuis pure timing

  • why can you not put the original verson of halo of flies from the album killers on here

  • I still find it strange that while this song is always high in any top-[number] lists, there are no more versions of this song.

  • alice cooper owes alot to his band mates, micheal bruce was a great song writer.glen buxton was a great lead player, dennis dunaway is a great bass player and neal smith is a fuck n top drummer..itsnot the same band with out the original line up..

  • I've got to agree,Alice Cooper was the band.

  • Absolutely!!!

  • Seeing Alice and the band perform the KILLER album in 1972 was their finest hour imo. By 1973, the Booze abuse had taken 'something' away from the perfect performance that I saw in 1972 in Dallas. Alice + the Band = The Best that AC has EVER been a party to !

  • absolutely agree. Too bad they broke up so soon.

  • @custom400 Totally agree, I played with Dennis in NJ 2 years ago at a Bowie tribute gig. His bass playing was so solid, He blew away everyone that played that night. Alice needs to to with the surviving members again. Thats the only reunion i want to see.

  • @beauty8116

Dennis Dunaway was the band IMO. If you listen to those first 6 albums he is the artist. AC was the drunken frontman and that's cool but who played the instruments?

  • @custom400 so true bro so true

  • Amazing.

  • I was at this concert in Pittsburgh. It was my first concert. My friends and I didn't have tickets or money so we snuck in, with the police chasing us until we got into the crowd on the floor. I made it to the third row right in front of Alice!

  • My first concert in 71 Alice Cooper in Seattle. WOW I was hooked

  • I agree. It's a tiny bit too fast. I heard it so many times on my 8-track that I think it is etched on the inside of my skull. Really good stuff.

  • Comment removed

  • I don't know where you got this but it's too fast. the pitch is a semi-tone high. Find somebody with recording software (if you don't have any) and pitch and time shift it down.

    Still loved hearing it though!

  • Yessssss, this is their very, very, very best song !!!

  • cool.

  • FUCK YEAH!!!!! This has to be one of the Alice Cooper bands finest moments.

  • this is a kickass tune, that's for sure.

  • That was recorded at the Civic Arena, in Pittsburgh

  • I saw the Alice Cooper Band do this in Detroit in December of 1971.. this was my favorite song of the night.. and they were all great.. have now seen him a total of 38 times..

  • Damn... Wish I were you!!!

  • waaay too fast damnit but still awesome

  • I beg to differ with OZKOR. FM radio was hotter than a firecracker from 1968 to 1971 until the bailout recipients purchased it all and went as commercial as the sky is blue. Halo of Flies was a fan and dj favorite at the end of that great run. In 1969 WKNR-FM's Russ Gibb in Detroit (with a lot of help from his friends) began the Paul Is Dead phenominom that literally swept the world. Anyway, great post

  • One of His Best Songs. I Dig the Fuck out of it!

  • Yeah I agree

    This song is ridiculous good!!

  • one of my fave alice tunes!!

  • One of my fave Alice tracks since 1972. Saw him perform this in Southampton last July - brilliant version, with Calico as the 'Asian lady'! To anyone still wondering why the fabulous original Alice Cooper band split - it was a combination of things - Alice was becoming more associated with the name, dear Glen Buxton was getting into drugs and alcohol, Alice became alcoholic ..they fell apart after 'Muscle of Love' in 74. Mike Bruce wrote a great book about it, 'No More Mr Nice Guy.'

  • Your explanation for why the band sounds fair. There is no one reason, but I would take Mike's book with a huge grain of salt though (just as I would with Alice's recent book haha).

  • You're right, we'll never know the real story, but I still enjoyed both books. Good to get a feel of the guys involved (ha ha, you know what I mean!). Love to all Alice fans, young and old XX

  • I love Alice!!! ^_^

I saw this live at the state fair here in Kansas. Of course, not original guys, but Alice was still there! ^_^ It was awweesome!

  • thanks good version

  • AC is the original 5 members and not one guy. I lost touch with the guy after 1974 and I was a young teen boy that got off on wild and crazy rock music. I had the original 6 LPs and think the last 4 were the best. Easy Action had some promise but LITD, Killer and School's out ruled.

I always liked this tuned because it was a conglomeration of several tunes. Live kicks ass!

  • Yeah, there's no video, but it's awesome to hear this song done live... it's a monster...

The original band was the best.

  • No video. But this was my favorite song on ... I think it was Killer. Never a popular song on the radio, but the best song on the album. Many musical influences, nicely pulled together to create a new musical influence.

  • Yeah, this song and lots of other great tunes were considered "too long" for radio..radio was shit back then anyway. Teeny Bopper crap on AM

  • Not so about radio: AM true but there was some great radio emerging around '68 - '72. Here in Philadelphia WXPN was "it" and WMMR playing Hendrix, Blue Cheer, Spirit, Steppenwolf, Zep, J.Beck , etc. etc.. I can only imagine it was same or better on West Coast La., Berkeley, SanFran.

  • i so love this tune...one of my top 5 original A.C band numbers, and it's performed spot on!!! but for reason, i could'nt see the footage, can anyone else? all the stuff they crafted was outta this world cool!!! my band,7th day creeps covers it, as well as dead babies...although it's not posted here yet...they will be soon though.

  • "but for reason, i could'nt see the footage, can anyone else? "

As per the video description, it's Audio Only.

  • I saw him do this song in detroit with neil smith backlit on the drums and it was one of the most memorable concerts of my life. I've been to see them so many times and used to have 8mm footage but don't know where it is anymore. They were best as the original band..too bad they broke up

  • Why Did The Break Up?

  • awesome song!

  • orkneyfellow i don't care about what i say i just messed up when i was typing and i didn't want people thinking that i thought green day was better than this.

  • Hey about my last comment it may have sounded a bit wrong i mean that green day would have been booed off the stage.

  • Hey I think your earlier comment summed it up pretty well. The fact you thought that you needed to clarify yourself shows that you care about about what you say.

  • I agree with you, Grren Day does suck. They have nothing on Alice, but you don't need to say it, it's like comparing fine wine to septic tank water.

  • this is an incredible song compare it to stuff today like green day they would have been booed off the stage if they tried to compete with these guys.and does any one know what effect he is using at 1:23 and 1:55 i love it

  • Kinda sounds like an echoplex and a slight wah.

  • Definitely this is Alice Cooper's masterpiece of songs. You must hear the studio version even though this is a very good live version.

  • Rap and Hip-Hop may have taken over the city of Detroit, but the album Killer and this song resonated loudly from many house parties, cars, and bars, in my 'hood there during the early 70s How I miss those years!!

  • Detroit rock n' roll will never be touched. Stooges, SRC, MC5, Alice, and even the Nuge's s/t album rule!

  • I love this song! it has so many twists and hooks. I'm glad they played it this year in psycho drama.

  • LOL, Want a Bond based Cooper song? CK out Man with the Golden Gun. Off of Muscle of Love!!

  • one of the best song in metal music long live alice!!!!!

  • I don't pay attention to Rock n' Roll hall of fame but I'm blown away Alice isn't in there. I thought that was a given simply due to his talent, creativity, longevity and badassness. Halo is easily one of my favorites by the mighty Alice Cooper Band.

  • no way i never heard this live.

  • Such a sweet song. Alice Cooper is so good i can't believe he isn't in the rock hall of fame!Damn critics are cocks!

  • "There has never been a statue put up of a critic"

  • good god love this song, did hear it years. It makes my metal heart ramp up, thanx for the posting!

  • the longest song ever in the charts but also one of the greatest songs all time .. unbelievable . Thanks for sharing

  • Dude, thanks a million for posting this great tune!

It is, IMHO, one of the most under-rated rock anthems of all time!

    You Rock dude!

    :D

  • The greatest Alice Cooper"Band"song from the best AC album of them all! Neal Smith RULES!!!

  • fuckin brilliant band

  • Awsome vid man, thanks for coming to my channel, Alice Cooper is a Great Rocker.

  • Great song. This is what Rock and Roll should aspire to be. "Killer" and "Love It To Death" completely blow away his later work.

  • Every track on Killer is a fucking killer. The best AC album and one of the greatest rock albums ever.

  • such a wonderful song. thank you. <3

  • Thanks for putting this up, I love this song!

  • great song

    alice cooper rlz!

  • "Halo of Flies is a fucking amazing song, one of the greatest."

Couldn't have said it better man.

  • Here's the proof of what a great band AC was. Great song , great performance. I know Hunter or Wagner (maybe both played on the studio version) but were most likely just brought in by Ezrin to spped the recording along. They weren't needed for their "technical" prowess. Glenn & Mike are doing great here without them. Gotta Love Neil & Denny's kickass rhythm section & Vincent's gritty vocals.

  • i used to like this song on my Killer tape, but what exactly do the lyrics mean??? can someone tell me?

  • "You never will understand..."

  • Is based on a James Bond movie: Daggers and contacts and bright shiny limos I've got a watch that turns into a lifeboat

Glimmering nightgowns poisonous as cobras silencer under the heel of my shoe.

  • Halo of Flies is a fucking amazing song, one of the greatest.

  • This song is high in my top 100. Thx for putting it up

  • u've been saving my day! this track was almost out of my memory and a real live version as well!

  • Amazing song, I was in the middle of tabbing it out on guitar pro 5 when you put it up, which is quite a coincidence. I'll probably post it on ultimate-guitar when I get round to it.

  • Love this song!

  • Cool as hell!where'd you get it and do you have anymore audio from that tour?!

  • Sounds like the Hollywood Bowl show - available on numerous bootlegs.

  • This is from Pittsburgh!
