  • Anyone else notice they spell Chris' name wrong on that promo at the beginning of this video? 50 seconds in "Chris Connell". LOL come on now.

  • Extremely underrated song by an extremely underrated band.

  • i know this was from the basketball diaries soundtrack, does anyone know which album its from?

  • @marzza666 It's not in any album.

  • @marzza666 It wasn't on any of the albums.

  • @vcough which is a damn shame if you ask me, this would easily fit into Superunknown

  • @Lawldudz I agree. This would have made an excellent closing song on Superunknown. It would have fit on Down on the Upside too.

  • saw them at the Forum in Inglewood last week. now I can die. they were awesome. so loud

  • where has this track been all my life?

  • Do exist any band with better lyrics than Soundgarden????................(ironicly)

  • Guys, please release your B-SIDES, your fans will only love you more for it

  • This song reminds me of a cloudy windy post rain day.

  • Another jewel of a song. So glad I discovered Soundgarden's B-side material.

  • This is one f***in` good song! It`s like mind solitude!

  • The inicial riff really looks like Cinnamon Girl of Neil Young, but the rest...I don't think so. Awesome music!

  • Where do all these unreleased tracks come from?! thanks for posting by the way

  • @cgnetwork1 This ones from The Basketball Diaries Soundtrack.

  • The prophetic Cornell once again before his time considering Tuesday's news......

  • @JaynardManback

what news are you refering to? just curious

  • @XXjConXX The election results and their right wing beneficiary's ability to roll the evolutionary clocks back a notch or two.

  • Does anybody know if the retrospective is going to contain their b-sides and unreleased cover tracks?

  • Does this remind anyone else of the song Cinnamon Girl just slowed down?

  • @riptorn311 A great song by Neil Young, but then he is considered by many as the grandfather of grunge.

  • @Denmanize ......who the hell considers Neil Young the grandfather of grunge? I mean, I love NY but....grunge? No.

  • Stone Temple Pilots would sacrifice Weiland in the weirdest way possible to ever write a song this good. And it is a B-Side for Soundgarden.

  • This song is in movie ' The basketball diaries ' , great movie ,even better song ,you can't do wrong with Soundgarden . Chris is my God

  • @bmiha the song fits the dark mood of the movie perfectly..just wish it was on one of the albums too though lol

  • @bmiha Even though they played it late in the credits instead of during the movie.......retarded. Should've been the opening track...

  • fuckin' amazing song!

  • I gotta say... this sounds like alice in chains in some good way :) (y)

  • my favorite soundgarden b-side. this would have been great on down on the upside.

  • No Eleven is the best kept secret in music. But FUCK Soundgarden is awesome!!

  • this is the kinda song u just wonna sit on ur bed and smoke some weed and drift away

  • Love this song.

  • Why are so many good songs only released on soundtracks?

  • That comment about "not knowing of soundgarden if it weren't for nirvana" is absolute bullshit. I never saw the big deal with Nirvana, daftheadsonyer got it right about Nirvana being 4th behind Soundgarden, AIC and Pearl Jam.

  • most of you wouldnt even know soundgarden if nirvana would not have been so succesfull

  • The word grunge is a fuckin stupid word. The two best bands from Seattle were Alice in Chains and Soundgarden. Yes fuck Nirvana, their 4th behind Pearl Jam.

  • this song is actually awesome.

  • cool Soundgarden song they rock

  • Wicked. Dark. Haunting.

  • Its from the movie soundtrack of "The basketball Diaries"

  • I am the Soundgardener - I vouchsafe that your opinions are correct, righteous and yes, Soundgarden are the most Superunknown of all bands.

  • heard this song on the basketball diaries..good movie and good song :)

  • the riff is similar to cinnamon girl by neil young, only heavier and slower

  • nad about ten times more kickass

  • a very haunting track, i dont know if people will agree, but thats what i think.

  • This band is the best kept secret in music.

  • @artisthespoonman oh yeah it is !!!

  • @artisthespoonman Secret??? where the hell were you in the 90's?

  • @ultramegabob2 i know that i was living in miami force fed hip hop and merengue because a 0-7 year old wasn't going to go out looking for music lol

  • @artisthespoonman everyone knows of them but few actually know them

  • Search torrents for "Soundgarden Rarities" and you should find one that has this song on it, as well as "Fresh Deadly Roses"-another favorite of mine.

  • Oh OK both of them.

  • sounds exactly like neil young's cinnamon girl

  • Soundgarden tock my GRUNGE

  • Soundgarden is a band only true fans "get" if you don't "get" it you never will, i won't even bother explaining.

  • Its so true. Their is just something so deep and brilliant about their music, I can't understand why they are so underrated. Im like the only Soundgarden fan I know, but everyone I see has a Nirvana shirt.. I like Nirvana, but come on.. SOundgarden rocks!!!

  • i agree with you on this, soundgarden seriously rocks

  • i'm really tired of that nirvana's shirt i'm proud of use my brand new soundgarden t-shirt i can say the world FUCK NIRVANA, PROBABLY THE BEST GRUNGE BAND IN THE WORLD START WITH SOUND AND ENDS WITH GARDEN

  • whoa common.. I love both. they both made awesome music, and true Soundgarden isnt known to the masses as Nirvana.. big miss to them..

  • @vcough you're not the only soundgarden fan lol trust me.. i've listened to soundgarden ever since they formed and well.. what i say is .. if you don't DIG soundgarden.. you never will. i wont even bother explaining.

  • Amen, brother...

  • Please someone give me the magic link so I can download this song

  • Just like a suiciDe!

  • never acorred to me that this song was so great...one of soundgarden best songs

  • Great song. I got the Basketball diaries soundtrack for $1.50 off Ebay just for this song, lol.

  • This is so dark and brooding....really good.

  • the basketball diaries brought me here

  • This song is actually played during the end credits of the movie "The Basketball Diaries". It's the only time I have ever heard this song. Thanks for the posting

  • Cinnamon Girl.

  • cinnamon girl sucks. this rewrite is better.

  • I know thats exactly what i thought

  • There is that fear that it can't possibly live up to the expectations of fans. I wouldn't expect it to be as good as Superunknown as that would be stupid, but Cornell's heart isn't in it anymore. If it isn't a labor of love, it won't be any good. Commercialism is what killed grunge. It's a wonder that Pearl Jam is still going.

  • I don't want them to get back together. Why go back now? Real fans, I think, would understand.

  • If they could get back together AND at the same time not ruin their amazing legacy, I'd be totally for it but yeah...not really seeing how that's possible.

  • @7d7e7f7 why? i think they arnt going back but moving forward

  • @Nowe105 They died a long time ago, I'm not sure what you mean.

  • @7d7e7f7 ehhh maybe but maybe thats why they took a break to find themselves i guess ehh idk i guess will just have to see when they make a new album will the be late 80s to early 90s sooundgarden or the late lol i dont know if thats what you meant or not

  • @7d7e7f7 Exactly

  • @7d7e7f7 No, just no.

  • @7d7e7f7 I don't understand. I'm a real fan and I want to see them live!

  • @Audioslave3 Your time will come. I thought I missed my chance forever, being born in 94, they broke up in 96. But I saw them last summer 5 days before my birthday and it was incredible! You'll see them don't worry.

  • @7d7e7f7 Why not?In the worst case,if they start making some crappy music, they wont erase the albums they've made already...

  • @7d7e7f7 to rock and roll

  • @7d7e7f7 I would have agreed, but sadly Cornell tainted the legend of Soundgarden somewhat with the mediocre Audioslave, the poor Carry On and the simply awful Timberland collaboration. The recent reunion of Soundgarden and the release of the brilliant Black Rain has actually revived the old legend...to a degree.

  • @MegaLotusEater Audioslave mediocr? There are some class songs by Audioslave i.e doesnt remind me, i am the highway be yourself. They mightened of been as consistantly as good as Soundgarden but anyway everybody too themselves!

  • @MegaLotusEater Audioslave mediocre? There are some class songs by Audioslave i.e doesnt remind me, i am the highway be yourself. They mightened of been as consistantly as good as Soundgarden but anyway everybody too themselves!

  • @MegaLotusEater I think it's cool Chris Cornell is optimistic with different types of music; because it shows how much of a dedicated musician he is, but his glory years was with Kim Thayil, and the rest of the gang. Soundgarden.

  • @Boganator4 I also think it's cool when musicians branch out with different kinds of music. Like when Soundgarden became experimental in their last 2 albums, or when Cornell did Euphoria Morning. But when he started make shit music with Timberland, I lost interest and respect.

  • @MegaLotusEater Losing respect in him for playing a different type of music doesn't make any sense. He's still the same Chris Cornell, just has a different respect with music.

Who cares if he did something with Timberland. I listened to it, I didn't like it, but I didn't lose interest because there's still Soundgarden that I can listen to. It's not like Chris is a egotistical jackass, or does large amount of drugs. He's just doing music.

  • @7d7e7f7 Real fans would like to see them again.

  • @7d7e7f7 are you stupid

  • @7d7e7f7 real fans DO want them to reuinite, why? because of fuking amazing outsanding flabbergastingly mindblowing songs like black rain. we want more black rain. come back soundgarden.

  • @rckflare I agree, they are a great band. You do know that Black Rain is an old song that was re-released/remixed right? They will never top their old material. Chris can't sing like he used to. This is why I wouldn't want new stuff from them. If it turns out to be amazing then I'll be happy, but otherwise it's best to go out on top. Look at AIC for example. They went out on top, then years later under the AIC name had to release a mediocre album and I don't want the same to happen to them.

  • @7d7e7f7 you wouldn't want new stuff because "Chris can't sing like he used to"? gimme a break dude.

He can still peirce the highs in "Beyond The Wheel". The new album will kick ass ;).

  • @omegalen Right on. I can't believe anyone thumbed up that comment. "Real fans" would honor and respect the wishes of the band members. If they want to get back together, GREAT! On the contrary, only a "false fan" would cling to the classics and shun new material.

  • @7d7e7f7 you right......... when something finish lefting some perfect, its a beauty dessapiering........ now they can fuked the good name of all that they did.

  • @7d7e7f7 That's true for the most part, but speaking as a 17 year old fan who was barely alive when they broke up, it's nice that they got back together because many of us "True fans" never got a chance to see them. Now I'm seeing them in july, and couldn't be more excited.

  • @7d7e7f7 The best thing I could expect from a new Soundgarden album would be a fresh sound that doesn't try to hide the band's maturity, coupled with a hint of retrospect and just a little honest nostalgia. They were already heading in a new direction when we last heard from them on Down on the Upside, so I'm a bit keen to hear what's changed in fifteen years.

  • @7d7e7f7 After seeing them live in concert last Saturday in Chicago, I can unequivocally state that's the most ridiculous statement I've ever read.

  • @7d7e7f7 too bad they have gotten back together and theyre in the studio too workin on new shit YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

  • EXELENTE TEMA....

    ...QUE BANDA..

  • sou under!

  • una de las mejores bandas de grunge su musica el ritmo de esta cancion es chido espesado tiene una excelente melodia

  • Only Kim, Ben, Matt and Chris together can make something as............THIS!!!!!!

    Can't believe this is a B-Side!

    Awesome.......

  • listen to ''cinnamon girl'' by neil young and you 'll understand why THIS is a B-Side.

  • this is GENIOUS !!!

  • put in a search for (Free the Box Premination

  • The best ever!!!!

  • ONE OF THE BEST BAND'S EVER so much feeling in there stuff i love it

  • One of their very greatest among so many great ones

such inspiration, intensity and férocious beauty

    those were the days

Chris wake the fuck up please :'(

  • i dunno if you heard but everyone but chris reunited for a show a few weeks back, and with chris's new album basically tanking, you never know, if they dont get back together now they never will though

  • you're absolutely right *Keeping fingers crossed* ...

  • Their not getting back together.

They all get together at least once a year to take care of business (soundgarden shit) but they are not the same ppl & not friends like they used to be. nowhere near it.

  • @tayejay18 haha this obviously fails hardcore lol no worries though who would have guessed it?

  • @chamitox921 Sorry what are you replying too... haven't been on here in awhile?

  • @tayejay18 you said soundgarden wasnt gettin back together they are now

  • @chamitox921 A friend of one of the band members told me they weren't even slightly interested in getting back into Soundgarden at that time... Slowly but surely things started to come together. I don't think it's so great. Soundgarden was my favorite band but everything is so different now Every one is so different now.

  • @tayejay18 Different aint so bad, im excited to hear a different more adult soundgarden, if its as experimental as DOTUS then this will be a great new album!

  • i love the end too!

  • Brilliant! i first heard this on the Basketball Diaries soundtrack but now this is one of my favourite tracks. I love

  • Where do they get these riffs from? They have so many great ones.

  • Black Sabbath seems to be an influence^^ Especially their master of reality phase. Search for "Into the Void" for example.

  • I love the end.

  • basketball diarys is a sick movie classic :) the soundtrack was very decent as well it indeed has blind dogs on it seeing as how the end credits and part of the movie sample a little bit of thiss gem .. must have indeed .. coolio :)

  • I have never seen it on an album, only on a soundtrack to "The Basketball Diaries". Some flick, now I gotta watch it.

  • Damn this is good!! What's this from?

  • basketball diaries soundtrack

  • The picture with a description at 0:51 fucks up Chris Cornell's name. They put Connell.

  • They got the bass player wrong too, Hiro was on Louder Than Love. & the photo shows Ben!

  • It actually says Jason Everman, who temporarly filled bass after Hiro left. Good observations though, never noticed that before.

  • Soundgarden rules dude!!!!!!

  • BY FAR one of their best songs EVER!!! So intense. And yes, this is from Basketball Diaries. Awesome song!!!! Miss this band!

  • this song is too goood... fuck shouldve been released on superuknown or atleast as one of the best tracks off of down on the upside!

  • Yama looks like a Killer at 4:24

  • What kind of band releases something as good as this as a beside? Pure legends.

  • It was actually released in "The Basketball Diaries" soundtrack

  • Its still a b-side. Just like 'She likes surprises' was released on the Superunknown international edition and its definately still a b-side. But the term really has no meaning these days anyway.

  • I think that makes them even cooler. It's one of those hidden gems not everyone knows about.

  • this song is so 90'ties !!!

  • whats up troll?

  • Wrong, Norway boah. Plain wrong. Go get yourself a pair of ears.

  • im suprized to see you say that a backalley whore sucks, cuz i know that you couldnt score with a backalley whore or any chick in the world to save your pathetic life.

  • Did you read the disclaimer? Get a life.

  • 3:40-4:05 is incredible

  • Oh..It's fucking great:)

  • i don't get why this and cold bitch stayed as b-sides...they're amazing songs

  • absolutely one of my more favorite bands

  • This is song is so dark. I love it!!! This soundtrack is a real gem. PJ Harvey's song, this one, and "Strawberry Wine" by Massive internal complications. GREAT songs!!!!

  • one of my favorite bands i would literally shit myself if they got back together

  • Cornell is now busy with Timbaland :S

  • Cinnamon Girl

  • Dang, Kim rips up every solo he plays. This one's of his best!

  • THIS IS A B-side of the down on the upside?

  • Far better than ANY song on that album!

  • you said Down on the upside is not very good?

  • your crazy no soundgarden album is worst ,there all good....Badmotorfinger with outshined and holywater then superunknown with like suicide and mailman then down on the upside with burden in my hand (which may be the greatest song he wrote IMO) and zero chance so none of them are bad

  • Yeah, he said 'worst', not 'bad'.

  • Don't forget Never the Machine Forever and their swansong, Boot Camp.

And Superunknown's greater moments is definitely consisting of Let Me Drown and 4th of July.

  • Eh. If you ask me, most of the songs on DOTUS were pretty sub-par for soundgarden. I mean, this song should have been on there. This is a massive song. Their best moments imo would have to be Fresh Tendrils, Slaves and Bulldozers, and Room a Thousand Years Wide... And I always thought that Blow Up the Outside World would be an AWESOME song to close a set with. Just my own opinion : /

Oh and I was totally thinking about covering this song until 3:40 xD

  • yeah, maybe he thinks it's just teh least impressive you fuckin miscreant

  • i respect that you have an opinion in spite of all these friggin haters
