  • You only need Firewire if you plan on using your notebook for video editing and transferring your data from your camera to the computer, right?

  • no, you can do all that using usb

  • sorry i miss read what you said :P

Is that an unusual thing for people to do with a consumer laptop? Especially one with iMovie'08 included, which Apple dumbed down to be just a YouTube uploading tool.

BTW you also need FireWire for high speed external drives, and Target Disk Mode.

  • Thanks guys,

I think ill be ok without one. I have a few Desktops for dumping anything that goes over the 250gb on the macbook. So ill be good. Thanks again

  • I love the three videos I am waiting for next year and I still undecided to a Macbook or Pro or Imac. Great job!!

    Take care.

  • i think i'm going to get a regular macbook just because of the no firewire thing. =/

i think it wasn't a great move there, apple. haha.

You should go for a refurb. You'll save so much money. Then if Apple reintroduces FireWire on the new MB in the near future. You could resell it for almost as much as you paid for it, and then buy a new one.
