Why is Scorpion fighting Reptile (whose health bar has "Scorpion" on it)? (In the first _Mortal Kombat_, the only time when characters fight against themselves is when they get to "Mirror Match.")

This is just a little too perfect for human play maybe TAS perfect? Not to say a flawless run cannot be obtained, but there are too many projectiles anticipated, no reaction time by you in certain scenarios that led to the computer being juggled around, and the backhands you used in close when the computer was getting up. It's a great video, but I have a hard time believing it wasn't a Tool-Assisted run with some blocked jump kicks thrown in or at very minimum saved states used throughout.

As i've explained before, it's possible to manipulate the computer into throwing certain attacks at certain times, projectiles are anticipated because I'm reasonably sure they're coming, backhands are used accidentally when they don't kill.

Juggles are, by their nature, mostly only possible from countering a jump kick, VERY easy to anticipate, as the computers use of jump punches is 0

I'm actually glad that MK is coming back to its root. I used to love the franchise, but stopped after MK3 and Trilogy (mainly cause I couldn't afford the games), then tried to get back into it on Vengeance... I just hope I'll have the cash this time for the new MK game when it's out.

Mortal Kombat's AI is responsive.

so depending on what you do, it will make a move, the hard the difficulty, the smart the move the AI makes.

trick to beating it is to trigger the move on the AI's part and then countering it after you trigger it, but it's incredibly tough to do if your just playing straight through.

Don't shit on the guy because you can't do what he does, there's no evidence to say he's cheating.

It's an endurance glitch, it thinks the match is an endurance match, so loads in the last character you fought before reptile, but it keeps Reptile's palette and moves.

Out of curiosity, and because I STILL don't know, what happens on the SNES version when you beat endurance at the Pit, double flawless, fatality? I distinctly remember in Genesis they would actually let you fight endurance Reptile even if you had already fought Reptile earlier in the game. Of course, I didn't think to set the background to Palace Gates and would, instead, lose on purpose a couple of a times so I could fight the first endurance match at the PIt.

thats only if you have the health cheats on.

you'll notice you don't get the points for defeating Reptile either.

if you did use the cheats, and set background 1 to the pit, you could fight reptile 3 times including 1 endurance.

Alright! Glitchy endurance Reptile! When I first noticed that, I immediately tore up the house looking for my SNES version hoping maybe the same thing happened. I never did find the SNES version, but I had a lot of fun on Genesis playing endurance Reptile. I never did it on very hard, though, and I probably never got a double flawless.

It's because reptile uses Scorpion/Sub-Zero's palette, just swapped to green, so when his endurance partner jumps in, the game still thinks he's reptile, so keeps the green palette and moves, but uses the sprites of the person you fought second on the previous endurance

^Youre an idiot. First, it is possible if you mapped it to the PS2 controller because thebuttons leand themselves for quicker mashing with more buttons at your disposal. And his starting level was obvious, so he could fight Reptile with the endurance.
