  • 100% my kind of music!!

  • Great song ! Great band !

  • Just to answer lumbertubslad - David is working for the BBC at the moment and does a show on BBC Radio Leeds, as well as playing in a band.

Steve is a freelance TV director now, still living in Yorkshire.

I wish someone would maybe cover "Secrets" would be fun to see a modern spin on it - even though I would never change the original!!!

  • @fiatluxarebrill To be fair I would love to see Hurts cover this song.

  • still love this song, very underated band, heard them first time on Annie Nightingales radio show about 82,83.Saw them supporting Thomas Dolby.

  • Hi Lumbertubs

Not sure where Steve Wright went but David P Crickmore still plays in a folk band. Ian Nelson however died in 2005. He was a great sax player and often played with his brother Bill.

  • I am totaly delighted to have found this peice of music - I fell in love this track sometime in the 1980's and I have not heard it since now - I had forgotten the title and the name of the group - I have had a lovelly sing-a-long to it - thanks to whoever put it to share on Youtube - It is now in my "favourites" Does anyone know where the artists are now or are they still performing !!

  • Heard this song on the radio (Annie Nightingale's show) back in the 80s and have loved it ever since....unforgettable!

  • One of my top 5 tracks released in the 80's. A timeless classic - so beautiful...

  • i would say this was new romantics as it is not synth heavy, so can't be synthpop and it does not have much new wave to it, i like it though

  • Heard it in early 83 i think when it unjustly only managed to squeeze into the top 40. Never the less, as far as i'm concerned it's number one for me each time i listen to it. Timeless

  • wow...my hairs goes up!::::MY WAS STOLEN ...in a night club.....it was m last track in program and close up.

    thx for upl.this one.

  • great song - still works for me... and can the person that does not like this song own up?

  • great song - still works for me.

  • Number one 80 For mistery song!

  • I heard it from my friends about the things you said...was Martin Gore a fan of this band? :P

  • Just a bit of trivia for all good Luxians... Go to "Commercial Breakdown 2" posting, go to 4 mins and 50 secs in (Love Will Come) and the guy you see being a ballet dancer way back in 1984 is that Bruno Tonioli (or whatever) from TV's Strictly Come Dancing! Not a great many people know that! He's done well for himself hasn't he? Cheers!

  • I remember jumping off the bus and running back home so I could hear the end of this song in order to find out who it was by. Must have been some time in 1984. My mates (who I normally walked home with) thought something must have been up so called in to see if I was OK. I was - but the DJ didn't give the name of the track out so I didn't manage to buy it.

Thankfully we now have the web and a quick search today was all I needed. Yay!

  • Not much of the 80s I care to remember but this is an exception.

  • a masterpiece...!!!

  • brilliant

  • One of my Fav. songs of the 80s !!!!

  • R.I.P. Ian Nelson..big fan of your bro Bill too !!

  • I still have the 12 inch version upstairs in the attic but my record player is sitting unused on the first floor as YouTube provides me with loads of finds, like this one!

  • i bought the picture disc in 1985. Im sure they had a track called photoghraphy as well.I heard peter powell playing it on his radio 1 show..he was a good, if what mainstream DJ, played all sorts of new stuff at the time.

    Nice memories....

  • @IMPERIALSTORMTROOPER

Yes, Photography was on their 6 track mini LP Hired History.

    1. Secrets

    2. Photography

    3. Blue Emotion

    4. Comfortable Life

    5. Sleepless Nightmare

    6. Aqua Vitae

  • so great- I loved this song from first hearing driving throught Switzerland in 1984. It was hard work to find out who was singing it. I found out and I can hear this beautiful music as often i have time to....

  • As I recall it was never a big hit, but I always remember it being a regular request on Anne Nightingale's Sunday night show on Radio 1 in the eighties and early nineties. Veoh has the original video.

  • Thanks for posting, have looking to hear this again for long time, gotta gp I'm having a moment.

  • this was and is till now my fav. song of the 80's!! There were so much very good songs at that decade, but this one I've heard as much I could a day... So glad having got it on vinyl- I never found on CD!!??

  • Hey..its Ricky Gervais

  • Wow, this is absolutely wonderful. Never heard of

"Fiat Lux". Though i am late I am so glad I have heard this band. Must try to track down their material on Ebay now!

  • This song came into my head today, way over 20 years since I last heard it. And I've no idea why. So pleased to see it on here. Haunting and slightly melancholy, yet strangely uplifting at the same time. That makes no sense, I know, but that's the best way I can think of describing it!

  • I loved this when it came out...Great little band

  • Fantastic!

Haven't heard this in 25 years - takes me back to a time when I was skinny and had hair!

I wish someone would post TV21 "All Join Hands"

  • Wasn't this the theme music for the children's TV show 'Bobbing Bob and Captain Bob Meet Nigel Nabob and Nob The Dog?'

  • My Dad's good mates with David (guitarist) ;) So, that means I've met him loads - proper nice guy :)

  • Sorry, I got this mixed up with Uriah Heep's Gypsy.

  • Wonderful song. It deserved to be a big hit. I remember the promo video very well, especially the bit with the car chase in the shopping mall. Even back then it was big budget stuff. I think I read in Creative Butcher magazine that the video cost £1.5million.

  • I have the VHS video of Commercial Breakdown - Wonderful...x

  • @AlfredandIsobel The vidoe for this used to be on youtube, but alas.... gone now :( what a class tune.

  • Wonderful! I have the 6 track EP/LP 'Hired History' (c) 1983. Just a shame that the sleeve got trashed in a flood. The Vinyl is still mint :-)

I feel the need to rip this one to CD.

  • Wonderful song. Music and lyrics fit perfectly.

  • I love this song, I have had it on 7 inch single for years, and I remeber the video on here, then it vanished, was not happey

  • greater than great!

  • Never tire of this one...pure beauty

  • Totally agree......... I am SO glad that someone taped it for me, and it was then transferred to CD. I tried so many times to buy a copy......

  • Quality,Quality,Quality tune from the excellent 80's,12" version hidden in my vinyl collection...shame it cant be found on itunes....!!!

  • I love it so for 25years- what a pity no good video to look at...

  • Just in case anyone's interested and wants tp "spread the news", but the BBC are playing a "lost" Janice Long session by Fiat Lux from 1983 on BBC 6 Music between 4am and 5am this Saturday Morning 22nd Aug 2009. It's got an acoustic version of Secrets on it featuring great sax from the late much lamented Ian Nelson. Strange hour to be on, but hey maybe catch it on i player? Cheers everyone!

  • Fantastic song !!

    ☆☆☆☆☆

  • Yes, that's the one. Just a few things happened in this clip, but they just repeated them several times, to fill up the 3.41 minutes :-)

  • About a year or longer ago there has been an original video clip posted on YouTube. I have watched it several times, but for some reason it's not there anymore!

  • Such a shame Ian Nelson passed away a couple of years back...

    R.I.P Ian...

  • omg witch 1 was it !!!! and wat did he die off

    RIP ian, im shocked

  • Hey Barsopen1970. Been a DJ for 7 years back in the 80's and I know most if not all :) I adore this song for some reason. Amazing music don't you agree? anyway, it's all a matter of taste. Cheers

  • Good download, brilliant song. Don't think it did much when it came out, though

  • this is the best song i've ever heard...19702407 ur a gift from God lol

  • Gee's you must've heard very many songs then.. sounds like yet another dreary & flat British tune.

why'd so many sound this way ?

  • ^ must'nt have

  • does a real video of this song exist? If yes please somebody upload it.

  • I recall seeing a video when it was first released. But it was half a life time ago. Great upload.Thank you

  • Sure was... had the band wandering around a country estate with medieval styled minstrels all over the place.. juggliers and what not.. pretty cool. Used to be on here..?!

  • I love this song, have been hoping for it to turn up on you tube, my original 45 is so scratched I can't listen to it.

    Thank you for posting it.

  • Fantastic, great song and production from 1983, just put my copy for sale on ebay
