This should simply NEVER have happened, the marshals should not have been allowed on the track until the safety car had been deployed. Plus, the cars should be under double waved yellow flags and should not be travelling at those speeds and overtaking. The whole incident was totally avoidable and race control should be raked over the coals for letting this happen!
@MrGlenLane Well I did meant 'marshalling' in the broader term, so effectively indeed the inaction of race control providing a safetycar or sufficient flagging by the marshall. I would agree this is not to blame the individual marshalls for at the track. In regard to the guardrail, it is meant to absorb the crash, not collaps, but I think you meant that. Here, the upper part seems to collaps which turns the guardrail into abit of a ramp, sending the car into the air, because of the car's angle.
If you look at a video displaying another angle of this crash, you would see multiple cars approaching the scene of the first accident way too fast. The Ferrari driver was even faster and stepped heavily on his brakes, which made him lose the back of his car. So the marshalling of this track was sub-standard.
Also, the guardrail was sub-standard: it did not withstand the blow of the crash. The car could have reached the crowd or killed someone on the serviceroad, where it landed.
@TheGreatIndoors1979 If you knew anything about motorsport, you'd know that those particular barriers are meant to collapse upon heavy impact, and that the marshals are not at fault for a driver's stupidity. Isn't it funny how us marshals are blamed for everything, when we're simply the monkeys, doing what the organ grinders tell us to. The only people to blame for a lack of red flags, in this case, are the clerks at race control. This session should have been stopped before this happened.
hahaha... the fireman at the end turns around and sees what happened, and turned on his baywatch music and starts running to the burning car in slow motion..ok the last part didnt happen but shoulda
love how the firemen are just standing there watching the cars come at them, just totally chill. Then one turns around and is just like "HOLY HELL!!!"

@KingCuervo88 this might be fatal because of black tarp at end of video...

@Bluestorm5 it says in the description for the video that "he is okay", so i wouldn't worry. Spectacular accident though!

@Bluestorm5 Blankets or other means of protecting privacy of pilot are very common on tracks and as such don't always mean serious injury or death.
