  • Love Jeannie and this song.

  • This makes me just wanna walk into some old smokey bar on the Jacksboro Hwy in Fort Worth throw some money in the juke box and never come out again.

  • Gotta Love the Classics...

  • What a classic Country sound. I luv the old stuff.

  • this lady was and still true country along with Dottie West have been a blessing to the opry Got one more singer that is the hottest thing in real country music and that is Amber Digby She can sing the heck out country music But you have to get her music off the internet country radio has gone to pop..She is a talent and her band is great ..

  • This is such a pretty song.

  • I Ordered A "CD" & Key Chain From Ms Seety . They Came About 3 Months Later. Ms Seely Wrote me a Note & Apolojized for the Delay, Never Mentioning That She Lost Her Home, Car, Clothes, Everything She Had in the Flood In Nashville!! She Autographed Everything, Also Sent Me a Beautiful Picture of Her and Her LIttle Doggie!! NOW THAT IS A "SUPER STAR" IN MY BOOKS!!

  • Her voice just sails !

  • Jeannie has that little rasp in her voice -- bluesy -- that sets her apart from a lot of her contemporaries. Her husband, Hank Cochran (RIP) wrote this classic.

  • i know jeannie seely is from titusville pa same hometown as my freind phill cox

  • I ordered a CD from her a number of weeks ago. When it came, she apolojised for taking so long to get to me. She said the "flood" reuined many artists things. She sent me a picture of herself, her little doggie and autographed her CD.

    Now, that's CLASS!

  • @SIGNALSTAT We'll have our youth - and beauty - back at the resurection, so it's not lost forever.

  • @SIGNALSTAT

Funny... I actually think she is even prettier now.

  • I listen to the Opry whenever I get the chance, and I always love hearing Jeannie host the show. I love her singing, and I love the way she interacts with the audience. She just seems like the nicest lady you'd ever expect to meet! Even just from listening over the radio, it's like you can just hear that big old smile on her face.

  • Tonight Hank Cochran the writer of this song and Jeanne Seely's ex husband, passed away. He was 72. They loved each other. At he old Opry House everyone would go

to "Tootsies" on the break, I heard Hank say I hope Jeanne don't sing that tonight. He was very emotional. I heard Jeanne sing theis song at Bever Dam, Ky. With a tear in her eye. Make the World go away and so many more. Hank made us laugh, cry and think. Lisa & I will miss him.

  • I love good ole traditional country music. This is one of my favorites of all time.

  • if you like this check out rfd tv on direct tv channel 345

  • When I hear this music,I close my eyes and for a moment I'm 13 again and my Mom, Dad and Grand parents are all alive....Damn.

  • One of the GREATS back when women in nashville could sing!

  • I haven't heard this song in years Thank you. If you didn't look real close you would swear it was Skeeter Davis!'. And that is meant as a compliment, not a put down!! Ten Stars

  • Wow! One from the vaults...

  • Very Good nobody could do it better.

  • I like the version sang by Tammy Wynette better, the one that Rayette sings from the movie "Five easy pieces" LOVE IT! especially when your feelin down, a real blues type.

  • she had a bad wreck a while back

and i think she's smoked a lot over the years

she's a bit gruff these days

  • i agree with her cause i dont ever want a boy to just lead me on

  • Songs like this are why the jukebox was invented. What a classic.

Wanda Jackson does a really good version of this, too.

  • @TheQuestionOfEvil Tammy Wynette did a great version of this!

  • @TheQuestionOfEvil think Dottie West did it too

  • @TheQuestionOfEvil

my mother did this song so good , the memories make me tear up

  • Love this old song!

  • A beautiful woman, a beautiful voice and a beautiful song.

  • I forgot how good looking she was since the 60's. Nice video.

  • I could just listen to this song over and over,it is so beautifull and sung by a great singer,it brings tears to everyones eyes,Im sure.

  • What a beautiful song and a beautiful voice. This song made me cry.

  • Thanks for sending John....Jeannie was one of my Daddy's favorites so I used to hear her sing a lot....He especially liked this song....Bob

  • What a voice. And she's still beautiful all these years later. Awesome.

  • This lady is so dam pretty!

  • A sound and time we will never see again.

  • I love country music of this era. To me it is the best there is. The country music of today is a shame! It just doesn't compare.

  • Yep,She's one of the best. So is the song.

  • Fantastic song. Saw her interprete this

in January this year; that means the same

song, the same lady 42...years later.

  • I don't know anything about this song or singer but I feel like fate smiled upon me today since I stumbled upon it! OUTSTANDING!

I also like Connie Smith's "once a day"

  • Jeannie, it's about time that someone got this great song on here. I worked in radio for many years, & there wasn't a day that I didn't grab this "45" to spin on my show. You're an awesome stylist, & you're soooo gorgeous to go with it. I am friends with Tony in Ohio, & have written to Jan Howard a few times. I make it to the Opry when I am able to get off work, & your portion of the show is always my favorite. I would love to meet you & Jan both someday soon. Traditional Rules for me.

  • Jeannie was introduced by the late Jerry Byrd.

Jerry left Nashville and lived for many years in Hawaii. In the fifties and sixties Jerry was the number one steel player in the world. At the heighth of his career he was painting the interior of houses and to my amazment I entered a drug store and there he was working behind the counter here in Nashville.

  • fantastic, and that gorgeous pedal steel from Buddy Emmons.

Steel guitar just does not get better than that.

  • I was listening to the Grand Ole Opry a couple of weeks ago and Jessica Simpson was on. She sang two songs and the crowd was just really into it, but then Jeannie Seely came up to the mic and said, "We have time to do a little of this"... She sang "Your hand is like a torch..." and the crowd just went wild. Now that is a performer. A true country legend.

  • @jcad1009 didnt know she was stiil alive, and you know, I thought it was Tammy who sang it originally!

  • @jcad1009 hey, nothing like the old days

  • Jeannie Seely FOREVER !!!

  • I love this song and first heard it sung by Wilma Burgess who has a fantastic voice. Wilma

never got the recognition I feel she deserved.

I have seen Jeannie Seeley on the Opry for many years and she was married for a long time to one of the best song writers who ever lived. This is good song writing here for sure. Thanks for posting. - Paula

  • Her voice is just as good now and I think she is even more beautiful!

  • C'mon boys, she's soooo beautiful it should be illegal. If you don't agree, get IMMEDIATE Medical Attention!

  • Ahh, the beautiful and talented JEANNIE SEELY!She's one of the most ballsy and fun Women in Nashville, believe me. What an incredible Performance of one of the greatest Country Songs ever composed. I just love her to bits!

  • One of the most talented ladies in country music for decades now. Amazing voice, amazing phrasing.. simply incredible! Thank you for this clip.

  • I have been to the Grand Ole Opry so many times, and singing to you now is one of my favorite ladies. I have been singing this song since I was a little guy. And there is someone in my life to whom I say "don't touch me if you don't love me sweetheart" I think we all have someone like that in our lives.

  • Absolutely love Jeannie singing this song.

    One of my favorites.

  • I loving hearing my friend Jeanie do this song thatnks for posting it!!!!!
