  • i love these little guys im litsening to information like this to see if it's right for me.

  • you can use a leash. the leash i got wet around their neck, not tigt but it did, and it clipped on to my shirt. you can go outside and they do need get bored with their diet so switch it up.

  • You forgot to mention anything about not giving them citrus...

  • @owzzer9 They'd spread their weings and glide awayyyyyy.

  • Leashes are not meant to be used every day; they are when you are bonding with your Sugar Glider, so in the instance that they take off (which they will) it's easier to grab the end of the leash rather than tackling the suggie.

It's not to leash train them. :)

  • @TheKazdorf correct

  • taking them outside is dangerous also leashes the foods are correct with not having them

  • She forgot to say to never pick up a sugar glider by it's tail. .____.

  • my glider love to bite. do you have any idea why ? and your tips is very useful thankyou..

  • (continued) Of course, a BETTER idea would be to move it in it's own pet crate, or in one of those little waist pouches they make for carrying small pets. That would be much better to do.

  • Honestly, it's the same rules you would apply to a hamster. Who takes their hamster outside? Who puts a leash on their hamster? Now I have seen those leashes. They make some nice specialized ones for sugar gliders that aren't supposed to cut into that membrane. I think that if you absolutely have to take your glider outside of it's comfort zone and are afraid of it getting lost, like while moving to a new place, then a leash would be okay for a short time. (continued)

  • I'm pretty sure this is accurate, but you're making them sound like bad pets. I'm sure they require a little bit more work than a hamster, but are they really that hard to have as pets?

  • sooo parrots are less needy sweet!

  • Ya never give it alcohol

  • i wanna sugar glider so badly..

  • i read that you half to take them out side for 45 min in there peek a boo pouch if you havent herd about you can look it up

  • y are they caled sugar gliders if you dont feed them suger

  • what you cant feed them alcohol or chocolate and no cofee?

  • I'm just watching these because shes pretty :)

  • Can I put on a collar? I'm thinking of getting one and it would be cool for him(or her) to have one.

  • pffft....go to mynasba.org/dosugarbearsmakegoodpets.htm

  • Leashes are not a good idea on Sugar Gliders.

  • The diet this woman suggests preparing in her other videos is the reason why they smell. If you feed them chicken, mealworms, insects, they smell from the high amount of protein.

  • @XXTheForbiddenXX That is absolutely correct! I feed mine Glide-r'-Chow, Glide-a-mins, and a piece of fruit. That's all they require. A few treats now and again like nuts and Cheerios, they shouldn't have much of a smell. What garbage.

  • Interesting, since pocketpets is an accredited member of the Better Business Bureau and has an A+ rating with them.

  • I LOVE your videos. :) I'm getting two sugar gliders next week and your videos have been very helpful.

  • She has no idea what she is talking about. If you you want real TRUE info on sugar gliders, go to ASGV.org It is the offical website for the association for Sugar Glider Vets. They tell the truth, sugar gliders are amazing pets and are not as bad as depicts. What kind of expert is she?

  • @RRamos826 I've left comments to many people. Please stay away from the ASGV they are a front orginization giving out bad information for a glider mill called Pocket Pets that mis treats its animals and sells hurt injured ill gliders to only name a couple problems. The tips they give and the sites they give out lead you eventually to Pocket Pets and the info they give is to deal with sickly gliders that are too young to help keep your glider alive past the refund date. They are HORRIBLE people :(

  • @xSicSlipknotMaggotx ASGV strickly reccomends buying from FDA liscenced breeders and does not advocate shipping any pet. I can't understand how that would lead anyone to go to PocketPets. You can quote them saying buying any pet from the internet is a horrible idea. I'm sure my dog's vet must also be part of a vast catacomb of conspiracies to lure me into buying puppies from mills. *rolls eyes*

  • They won't get eaten and they won't run away. Animals don't recognise the smell because it isn't native to the us. But if you do randomly throw it down in front of a random cat or something it may try to catch it because of movement. Even if you were outside and you set it down and walked away it would follow you

  • do they smoke?

  • @iSim0641

you would be surprized some people think it calms then down which is true because theyre sick to their stomache.

  • Thats not true. They may run away, but they dont get eaten.

  • Awesome video, its important to know as much as possible about this animals BEFORE buying one, since they are so delicated ^^

  • Here is a better idea, don't keep them as pets. They are wild animals, leave them that way.

  • @Skely56

no no leashes. they are really bad. :(

    my video also explains why.

  • who would really give their sugar glider alcohol or chocolate??

  • there is sugar in everything, or something that can potentially become sugar.

  • this is one of the few videos she got right

  • rice is very bad for them they need protein and vitamen c u want to give em fruits it will make them in better shape and be nicer to u and trust u more

  • not to much fruit though in the wild they dont eat alot of fruit believe it or not 5% fruit

  • 90 percent of the time in her vids she's lying. Go and check youtube channel sugarglidervet if you wanna know the truth about sugar gliders.

  • OK I might be getting a suger glider. And my dad made a good point. What if your suger glider coasted off you and landed on the floor? Then what? I wondering if you can or cant use a leash on it. At a flea market I saw a suger glider seller had leashes on her suger gliders. What do I do!!

  • well since i have 6and i researched them alot lol the only reason they would jump off of u is if they dont trust you the first thing to do to get them to trust u is when u get them in your hands cup them like cover them up with ur hands firmly so they feel like their in a pouch and they will fall asleep pretty fast then u just message them while their sleeping so they dont feel harmed it works TRUST ME! lol

  • First off.. always buy gliders in pairs. Second... Never use a leash on a glider as they will be harmed by it (their gliding membrane can be damaged and the glider can basically hang itself). As a glider becomes more bonded to you, it will be less likely to leave you. If you are still concerned, use a bonding pouch or only let them free in a tent or glider-proof room.

  • you dont have to buy gliders in pairs! as long a you have plenty of time to spend with them. otherwise your information is very good!

  • they do have a gliding membrane, and it looks like it expands a great deal when they "glide" so I would say that it probobly wouldn't be a good idea to get one. I mean yea she has a point, these things could happen...but if you have a bonding pouch with these fancy things called. "Zippers" im pretty sure that a bonding pouch is the way to go lol. i have no experience..im just saying what Im going to do when I get my glider. I mean how can they get away when they are zipped in a pouch sleeping?

  • i wouldn't recomend getting a leash for it!! it could hurt the membrane between their legs, what an experienced breeder told me if they get away from you like that! is throw a blanket or towl over them. they will stop moving, and this will alow you to pick them up... hope this helps :D

  • Mine have only jumped to the floor if they missed what they were aiming for.. usually when they jump off my shoulder to the curtains and there alittle off they land to the ground.. But usually dont. Was nervious when i seen them land on the floor but they were fine.

  • I sometimes feed my sugar glider chocolate and there has never been any repercussions...will it die if it does eat it?

  • DO NOT feed chocolate to gliders. Your suggie will die.

  • She doesn't regret having one, she's trying to discourage people who might buy one impulsively and then neglect or abandon them. This happens way too often with domesticated animals let alone with exotic pets.

  • wow some people are jerks anyways i really like your videos and i think you provide a very good resource of information! thank you so much!!

  • For someone who owns a sugarglider, she really sounds like she regrets the decision.

  • SugarGlidervet's Channel is #1 Dont waste time here Check it out!

  • hes paid by mill breeders to do these vids. ASGV is a fake association owned by Perfect pocket pets.

  • @SilverRaindr0ps Yes, he is sponsored by the mill breeders Pocket Pets

  • people use leashes on rodents?

  • correction, marsupials

  • yes. its sad. sugar glider is a marsupial though, not a rodent.

  • i took mine out side @ nite and he jumped in a tree! it toook me 3 hours 2 get him down it was sooooo scary!

  • Anyway!!! These poor little creatures should be left in Australia where they belong. These are wild animals and it's people that think they need to have one and then end up abusing it because it's more than they bargined for. Listen to what she is saying and 'GET A DOG!'

  • it isn't that dumb.. shes only saying it because there are actually people stupid enough to do that. I went to a home show where the notorious mill breeders Pocket Pets were selling sugar gliders and they werte giving the gliders cheetos and spaghetti os... it was sickening :(

  • leashes around the neck can still be dangerous if they go for a big glide on the leash you could damage its neck even strangle it

  • you can teach them to go in a tissue or something instead of on your arm, just place a tissue under their but when you wake them up and hold it there for a few minutes and they will poop and pee in it, mine does anyway...

  • I have 3 sugar gliders, and I use leashes, they work awesome. The ones I use go around thier neck, and they love it.

LEASHES WORK very well if you know how to use them correctly.

  • No chocolate, alcohol, caffeine, or candy? Really? Duh! You can't feed ANY animals that!

  • My vet told me to feed my horse peppermint as a treat every now & then. :P

  • Really? Oh, I didnt kno that. thats kinda cool...

  • No, they cannot.

  • there really cute but can they be potty train

  • they cant eat tomatos potatos cherrys or avocatos

  • who likes avocados anyway

  • My neighbor has used a cat leash for his sugargliders (specially fixed to fit of course) and they are perfectly fine..

  • seriously...and one second she's against sugar gliders and the next she's scared of them and the next she's inlove with them!

  • She's just trying to show the ups and downs of owning the gliders. Chill.

  • how true ^^

  • I like rats better you can feed them any ole thing

  • You should still give your sugar gliders mealworms, but if you are afraid of the worms moving and such there are some things you can do. What a lot of people do is use tweezers to pick up the mealworms and feed them to the sugar gliders. You can also freeze the mealworms.

  • theyre so cute and fluffy!!!!! well cute anyway!!!

  • Yay good info...the alcohol was a little common sense.. . . . . . .

  • hye..anyone want a pair of sugar glider, i can giv u special price..only rm600 for cage+accesories. if u buy from pets shop, its will be rm900++ not juz for let go..for intrested person and pet lover only juz pm me at ym id:ayzacq_nick

  • she said sugar gliders are mean there NOT

  • ur great

    5/5

MAKE MORE VIDEOS ON SUGER GLIDERS!!!!!!

  • You're pretty.. But i have seen tons of different styles of leashes and one i saw does NOT hurt them because it's not like a regular leash it actually supports and holds onto their entire body... it was made specially for them because they are sooo fragile.. it looks like a little vest you would put on them...

  • No leash is safe for them. Have you looked at a glider gliding? The membranes spread out beyond what a glider leash/harness/vest would let them. If they jump and attempt to glide, the membrane will be stretched and the vest will prevent it from doing so, cutting into the membrane and hurting the glider. If it was big enough to compensate for the membrane, when the glider is not gliding they would be able to get out of it easily. Which of course doesnt make any sense.

  • Whatever you do, never, ever feed them after midnight!!

  • I notice she dosn't say anything about cooked or raw meat. My sugar glider actually prefers a small piece of hamburger to a piece of fresh fruit XD

  • hay i want to get a sugar glider and would it be a good idea!!! and i do go to school from 7-3 m-f would it be a good idea

  • I prefer this approach. What do you think will happen if this hype settles down and thousands of people notice they don`t want that animal after all? The ones who suffer will be these cuties. She`s just pointing out the difficulties, so not every mom buys her kids a sugar glider because they are trendy right now.

  • that goes for any pet you have you dont just go out and buy a dog cuz everyone hs one no...you have to sit down and think about what you have to do for the dog and so on and so forth...thats whats going on here if you decide you dont want a suga glider now what will happen a week from now when you DO get one...

  • Excellent and informative videos.

  • i know i have one

  • and dont let them have any warm food, seriously these guys will projectile vomit everywhere. its not pretty.

  • thats the reason it died! it needs 75 fruits and veggie mealworms or crickets and a pelleted diet.

  • Sugar gliders are NOT perfect pets. They're amazing, soft, and entertaining, but anything but perfect! They have their own personalities, which change as they get older. They're arguably a higher responsibility than dogs or cats. Their diet is specialized, they're complete attention whores. And it's nothing for them to wake you up barking at least once a night (usually around 3am, for some reason).. I LOVE my sugar gliders. I wouldn't change a thing. They're perfect for ME, but not for everyone.

  • I let my sugarglider drink from the tip of my Dr. Pepper once and she loved it, also Sugar gliders are not hard to keep!!! Its just idiot people that have no common sense buy them because they are cute and leave them to starve in there cages with no healthy foods.

  • well someone said that she said that, i was just saying "she says they are horrible?" i wasnt saying they were horrible myself. i love them and i want one...well i want more than one but...and yes i have 6 rats and have had more before. i also have 2 ferrets so i know what they are like

  • LOL I know I just get annoyed...theres just been a big slew of UK newspapers saying what amazing pets gliders are and glossing all of the negatives over. Its infuriated a lot of people over here, gliders are very special creatures which need very special care, most people dont realise they are not just gliding hamsters. It makes me so mad people just see that cute face and dont realise how messy/bitey they are. Then they abandon them. :( It sux.

  • i have not had any sugar gliders but i know they need work. lol people think alot of animals are like hamsters and just dont get it.

  • i have one. they rock!

  • SHE DOES NOT SAY THEY ARE HORRIBLE PETS! She is talking about downsides! Millions of animals are ABANDONED EVERY YEAR because people do not want to deal with their natural habits like smells, noises and biting. People need to talk about the downsides of keeping animals otherwise the number of people abandoning creatures is only going to rise. Sugar gliders are NOT for everybody, she is just trying to educate people about that, however innaccurate some of her other info is.

  • Okay, I have two Sugar Gliders. They do require a lot of care. I think there are a lot of people out there who have no idea how to care for them. Every word she said is true. She is trying to educate the general population. Sugar Gliders are not for everyone.

  • Lol!

    yeah right!

    My friends is a sweetheart!

(probably becuz its full of sugar from those flakes!) haha XD

  • that's funny. and i am sure ur friend is a sweetheart. lol

  • One cornflake wont hurt a glider but remember one flake is the size of their HEAD. Everything in moderation, and you should be okay. Just remember that moderation is relative to body size.

Most of their diet needs to be insects and fruits and veggies high in nutrients and low in simple sugars like red bell peppers, kiwi, mango, cucumbers, strawberries, and other dark colored produce.

A diet of nothing but cornflakes most surely killed that poor glider. Please dont let her kill another one.

  • Okay i DEFINATLEY wont let her :) thanks

  • I wouldn't say not to take them out, just keep them in a bonding pouch. Also, a little bit of cheese really isn't that bad for them, and it keeps them happy.

to ptownpirate - Frosted flakes really is a bad move, and no that sugar glider is NOT safe. That likely has a lot to do with why it died, but probably isn't the only reason.

  • As for taking them out, you just have to be careful, id rather err on the side of caution, if you cross a busy street and they get out of the pouch or your shirt its a danger to them and yourself. Not to mention if they get scared and run away or up a tree, you might never be able to catch them. They are ultra fast when they want to be! Just make sure they are secure if you take them out of your house with you.

  • im sorrry!!!! lol Trust me they scream at night so they're not sooo good. why did your dad sya no to them after this vid?

  • well like you said they screech at night, make a mess around there cage. He wants to talk to people who have them so they know how they really work.

  • no really, if you take care of your 1 glider, it will do just fine, while it IS better to have 2, as long as you dont leave it in its cage all day, and play with it for at least a couple hours a day. a single glider can do fine.

when i buy mine, im buying it somewhere between 8 and 12 weeks, closer to 8. im gonna have it for a couple weeks, so it can bond to me, then im buying my second one. and spending a little more time w/ the second one for the next couple weeks til theyre both bonded to me

  • Maybe she says that because there's small amount of people who are careless. Not everyone out there are careful as others. Just like the movie "Finding Nemo". Alot of people bought Clown fish and put them in fresh water, not salt water. Maybe the horror stories were enough to say what she said.

  • soo whats there life span?

  • 15 yrs

  • no catnip or any cat food and make sure their cages aren't made out of zinc or this other thing called gally-something. those things can kill your gliders.

  • Send questions to sugarglider04 at hotmail

  • Any questions - Write to me. I have nothing to sell and I don't claim to be an expert or have all the answers. but I MAY be able to help. These videos make the Suger Glider sound more like a pest, than a pet. They could not be more incorrect. They are a JOY to be with and will NOT bite or stink if PROPERLY handled and fed. Even bathroom habits can be managed, if you know how. If you do write me - please realize that it may take me a little time to get back to you.

  • And stay away from certain house plants :):):) they can be deadly!

  • is it better to have 1 or 2 sugar glider

  • i heard 2 is better, because they like to be with others
