Be extremely careful when working with high voltage. In some cases it can cause permanent nerve damage. I know first hand, I recieved a near lethal shock while servicing electrical equipment when I was serving in the U.S. Navy :( !!
I can't wait to see someone make an interactive EL game on a shirt or something. The challenge will making the inputs unobtrusive and be choosing a game that works well with those inputs, as well as designing the logic circuitry small enough to not weight down the shirt, but it'll happen sooner or later I'm sure.
They couldn't have coated the plastic with ITO. That must be a conductive plastic of some sort.

@mocatz187 Ok, I guess it could be ITO but I think it's more likely silver nano particle film like the stuff FUJI came out with in 2009.

One question:
if I want smaller pieces of EL, can I just simply cut parts from the wire/tape?

great videos, Jeri!
do you know where to buy a small amount EL ink? I can't seem to find it and the above link doesn't work.

@livingarchitectures Try a google search for sites.google.com/site/elen4193/kits/el Youtube doesn't let us post links directly.

Seems like it would be good for an alpha-numeric display.
