what a beautiful memoey this is one of the greates movies ever!!!!!!!!!!! go tanner gooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Let them play !!!!!!!!!!!
Geoffds - If you are trying as an adult to "make sense" of the magic of Tanner Boyle and Co... then I would respectfully say that you have missed the point.
As a kid, I enjoyed this movie. As an adult, it makes no sense. With so much at stake - the winner advances to play the Japanese champs - there is no way they would create a potential time conflict by scheduling this game mere hours before a MLB game. It would be like Cowboys Stadium hosting a high school championship game hours before the Cowboys kickoff. And those security guys need to be dismissed and their houses burned to the ground if they can't collectively catch a 10 year old.
Goosebumps for me when Kelly realizes his Dad wants it as bad as the players and is first to join him on the field to yell "Let them play!!!" Truly a feel good Father-Son scene.
I remember playing Little League and when the other team we were playing booted a play we'd all start doing the theme song..seems like yesterday..but it wasn't..lol
@ReadeMoore I agree. It chokes me up also when I see this. Few movies make you feel like you were there at the Dome (I call it the Dome because I'm from Houston) the way this movie does. I got to actually play a softball game in October at Minute Maid Park in Houston, and I met Enos Cabell, and I felt like a kid, and I thought of this movie. I also thought of Ahmad's quote when I got to bat "And it's goin' way out there, sucka". I'm just thankful I hit the ball!
i'm working on the big hundo (94 times... give or take a couple of Sy Orlansky brewskis) myself. as funny today as it was bold when i had bball cards in my huffy spokes.
No road trip is complete without a reference to "Engle-puke" and a bucket of KFC.
seriously. kind of like watching clips of the miracle on ice when you hear al michaels deliver the "do you believe in miracles..." line.
every single time i see "play ball" flash across the 'dome scoreboard, I look for it. yep, there it is... goosebumps. i had an irritating girlfriend once that actually got jealous because i didn't ALWAYS have the same reaction to her feminine charms... i believe i called her a "booger eating spaz."

Tanner reminds me of a kid I knew at Mills School in Ft.Lauderdale.
His name was Robert Linberg aka squirt.

I loved this movie as a kid. As well as Meatballs! I miss the 70's. Those were the best years of my life.

Chokes me up! Classic! I love when Tanner is alone in the field screaming "WE DIDN'T FINISH! THE GAME ISN'T OVER YET! THEY SAID 'FOUR INNINGS'..."

Goosebumps when Tanner evades the security guards. Then again when the scoreboard reads "play ball" and the Bad News Bears theme music comes on.
Awesome clip!
