Groovemonzter: First of all I want to say a huge THANK you for sharing the awesome talent of one of the greatest singers/musicians of all time. Not to appear demanding, do you by any chance have "Cash madam" and "Oyename"?
@Msincognito007 Miss incognito? hem..? yeah right for the fact that you know cash madam and oyename umm ok nah wah oh --God Bless ..just joking you are a connosieur of "old skool" you know your stuff!
who can ever forget this great music. From a typical Egba man, i remember dis series of tracks produced in small breakable "black" disc with various tracks. My dad, uncle and everbody bought one.
Mr. Obey, this is Trevae Oloye, Ramoni Oloye's wife. You stayed at my house on your first tour to America in 1974...in Chicago, Illinois USA. I stayed at your hotel in Lagos in 1976. How are you...I still love your music. I was in Nigeria five months ago. Planning on going back. I hope you get this message. I asked everyone about you. I heard you have a church now. my email is: goldenbeauty1stplace@yahoo.com. Please contact me...thanks,
@bisitaye many people dont understand the impact of Ijesa in the nigerian juju music. Ijesa loves people loves to gbadun no dull moment with ijesa people and am proud to be an ijesa grand duchess. Bakare, omole, and ajanaku really brought sunny and obey out. I thank God that Obey made this song. Its a lesson for those novice who dont know what they talk about when i tell them that Ijesa naa baba for elevating the juju music especially sunny ade.
I remember when the record came out, he was mimicking Tunde Nightingale in style because Tunde Nightingale was very popular in Lagos then. The bass gutarist, Gabriel Ayodele remained with Obey till the end. You can hear him in the backgroud, he started to end Obey's rhythm solo with distinct rude and rough interlude that compliments Obey's unique style of juju music. Arigidi supports Obey's voice with the ultra tenor voice in the backgound. Enjoy a great sound.
@sambaboy77: You are right, old skool all the way back to when MUSIC was REAL. May be I'm not that incognito after all. Enjoy, and God bless you too.
