CES 2008: Nikon D40 X Digital SLR

I have a d40x 2 years already and I can"t complain. It is realy good camera to learn, cost not lot of money. The difference is maybe only resolution, 10.2 megapixels compares to 6.1 of d40. Otherwise it is my first DSLR, but I did"t waste any pence. In the future, maybe D300, but first at all I have to write better in english:);) Good luck for all owners of Nikon cameras:)

I own a D40. And I know it is better than D40x .. The megapixel is not that big deal unless you want to have huge prints of your pictures .. Also, the D40 has greater ISO than D40x .. Dont waste your money with the D40x, go for D40.

so? megapixels only help you to make larger prints.with 6 megapixels you can make A3 prints,enouh for most users.The d40 has better high ISO berformance and better picture quallity.

It's about the same thing, though, trust me, sensor cleaning does help (a tiny bit, but it does), D40 has no rangefinder, therefore hard to use with AF-D lenses on manual focus and, furthermore, appreciating the extra 4 megapixels isn't necessarily a beginner type of behavior... I'd like to see you crop on a 6 MP picture taken with the D40 compared to a 10 D60 shot :) D60 is better, period, not by much, but the extra 100$ on the cost have their reason, otherwise they wouldn't charge it!

Glad you think so... I own the D60, I have also used the D40 and you can see the differences on the long run. Trust me, if 100$ aren't that big of a deal, go for the D60 (unless you can afford the D80/D90)
