I'm a 7th grader in a private school. I have a 97.6 as an overall average, but I don't know if I could ever get to Harvard. My dream is to become a politician or i also want to get into business. I have a 98 in Math, 91 in English, 96 in Social Studies, 93 in Science, 99 in Writing, and 97 in Literature. There are more grades I have but they are just extra courses I take like Crafts, Music, Karate, and Art. Does anyone think I could make it into Harvard?
Keep up the sweet grades. Though colleges only look at your grades from 9th-11th grade so keep up those high 90's! I had 98.8 average in middle school (6th-8th grade) then in high school those grades dropped to mid to low 90's when taking advanced courses. Good luck!
@HahaYouMakeMeLaughLo You don't need to worry about anything until you get into high school. Colleges only look at your high school GPA/SAT scores along with extra curriculars and any special skills. Community service is a GREAT way to get into schools, but you REALLY don't need to be worrying about getting into college until you get into high school. Just enjoy being a kid for now :)
After spending more than 2 weeks in a Summer Camp here I can say that I'm more than disappointed! Why you may ask.Well the cost is really high and with all the money you invest in getting in you risk living in debt all your life and Harvard left me a cold feeling.MIT did not,i felt more than welcome there. For European students the UK is much more of a better choice. It is cheaper, closer and the standard is teaching is the same. You don't have to be from a big school to be great. It is a marketing tactic like this that makes schools like harvard wealthy. Learning will always depends on the student and not the professor, but these schools would want you to believe otherwise for the sake of reputation. Its the oldest gimmick in history. The smartest person (chris langan) in history was an autodidact, he was self-taught! Don't be gullible!
@07Aristotle I would agree with you there! I go to an ivy, but really the profs kinda suck lol I feel I learn more staying in my dorm and reading the text books versus going to class, yet they want to fail me if I don't show up, even if they have nothing meaningful to teach me ._.
@punkofmudd It's simple logic, learning comes from books and you read the books. Those two things combined creates learning, therefore, no professor is really needed to actually learn. The professor is really the mediator so you don't have to read. I think only a professor is needed in trade schools where its more hands on. I go to USC, I pay way too much for anything I could learn from reading books. I guess it is only for a 'superficial' degree to command respect from my colleagues, haha!
@punkofmudd I have books from Harvard and Princeton professors. So essentially, I can say I go to both Harvard and Princeton, conceptually speaking. I just think it is principally unethical to charge so much for something I can learn in a library. I study my major as a hobby and I learned more from reading a book than in a classroom where learning pace is hastily generalized at the expense of students. Unfortunately I learned that after I got into a good university.
@XxSoDzKoDxX damm u smart saying that 7% is 7 out of 100 you should go to harvard man i thing they give they let you skip all of the years and let you graduate in every singe course u want omfg
Harvard is shit. To be admitted ether you are a genius with a perfect score at the SAT, you speak 4 languages etc. or either to have 250 000 dollars on you bank account.
@Bassoarno Obviously you have no idea what you are talking about. To be accepted into Harvard it's a combination of everything you have done and the potential they see in you - however, of course test scores count. I was accepted into Harvard this year with a historic low rate of 6.2% and I had a score on my SAT of 2090. Also, 70% of students at Harvard receive aid from them, and the average that all student pay to attend is $11,500. So, YOU are shit, not Harvard.
@Bassoarno The US is not unequal. It has laws that ensure that people of all ethnicities attend school, an institution cannot discriminate. It used to be that they even had to meet quotas. The problem with money here is that everyone does not know how to manage their money. People live from paycheck to paycheck, they have absolutely NO savings in the bank, and finance everything especially cars, houses, and SCHOOL. The more powerful institutions (read, Ivy Leagues) which have huge endowments...
@felipeohyeah lol you are so arrgant and ignorant, not everyone can afford to go to places like harvard not becasue they cant manage money but simply becasue theyre parents could never earn that much money in the first place, stop blaming those who cant afford 50k plus as their fault becasue it isnt, get out in the world from your overprotected rich life
@0gerbilater0 I'm ignorant? Seriously? Coming from a person that doesn't know "their" from "they're," that means a lot. Getting into Harvard, or any institution like it has nothing to do with how much money you have, if you need money, they WILL give it to you. I can't afford a $50k education, like *70%* of the other students, and if it weren't for their aid, I would NOT be going to Harvard. I'm not blaming anybody either, I'm just stating the truth...
@0gerbilater0 ...What Bassoarno asked me was about college opportunity. If anywhere in the world has college opportunity, it's America. If someone can't afford an education, it's their own fault. There are millions of scholarships and the government will GIVE you $5550 if you need it. What do YOU know about what really goes on in America from living in the UK? Next time do your research, or please, shut the fuck up. You're the one that needs to get out into the world from your sad ignorant life.
actually UK has much better opportunities than the US, US isnt a socialist state, UK basically is, compare every form of governemnt subsidies etc and youll see that the UK protects the poor here much better than the US does in terms of education, health and everything, it is the land of the free, so the poor have less opportunities than the wealthy, and by the i have a good edcuation so im not complaining about how my life sucks
@0gerbilater0 The UK has more opportunities!? LOL are you out of your mind? I've been unemployed since September, it's like the politicians don't want young people to do to university (hence the rise in tuition fees) or to get a job (decreasing job numbers) and ever driving a car (rapidly increasing insurance premiums...) I wanna fucking get out of here
@RooncoProductions lol you want to comapre that to tution fees in america which is a lot more expensive tens of thousands of dollar a year, and the only reason why the gov is putting up fees is becuase its been too heavily subsidisied and becuase of the deficit the gov has, it needs to cut down you working class prick, and politicians dont have control over job creation numbers by themsselves, other factors affect that you stupid cunt, you really believe theres the "american dream?" LMFAO
@0gerbilater0 Don't you dare call me a working class prick, what the fuck do you know? Let me guess, you've never had a job before? You're probably afraid of reality, and one of these people who will probably be living off of student grants all their life only to study something worthless like 'Film Studies' Yes I agree with you, there is no 'American Dream' I agree with some of your statements but the swearing was just immature.
@Bassoarno ...have the most money to give to students. Harvard has eliminated student loans for students and if a student needs money to attend school, they'll make sure that they receive it. If someone doesn't have money to pay for school, that is because they can't manage their money. Also, private institutions here ave very expensive, around $30k to $56, but there are state schools and other choices that cost much less, from $1k like community colleges to $10k-$15k for state schools.
@Bassoarno Btw, if you don't know what you're talking about, do some research before you start making accusations and assumptions. Being French is not an excuse.
too all harvard/ivy grads, I have this one request: please, please PLEASE stay away from the presidential office. this prestigious degree does not immediately endow you with the wisdom or tact to govern the present most powerful country in the world. Take your blind ambitions and do something else because your ilk are fast becoming public dissapointments.
that being said, congratulations on your degree; however overrated it may be.
Honestly, all the elitists in my school only talk to other elitists, because they claim average people are stupid and shouldn't be friends with them...which leads to the elitists having no good friends...
@boobtuber06 I'm probably missing something, but what was the motive for this comment? What's wrong with an Ivy League/Harvard graduate becoming the President..? They're not necessarily more qualified than a graduate from a state school, but they are definitely not less qualified.
@boobtuber06 With all due respect, Harvard "leaders" are entitled to that sense of entitlement. Out of about 9100 applicants, Harvard only accepts about 1000, proving that it is difficult to get in. Also, Harvard's 50th percentile SAT score is around a 2320, 80 points shy of a perfect score. Lastly, Harvard graduates make almost quadruple the amount of money on average than their non-Ivy League or state school counterparts. Frankly, I'm glad that there is an Harvard Law School graduate in office
@MrWeDoBig wow... is that what you think it takes to be a good leader!? someone who does well on a scholastic achievement test and then got into an institution that mostly caters to legacies?
@boobtuber06 Honestly, that's how I think, but I'm not white. But I do go to Harvard (not because of affirmative action, my race doesn't fall into the "minority" category) and I think that the people I know here are definitely qualified to run the greatest country in the world, because excelling intellectually is USUALLY a vital asset to good leadership. I don't know a single "dumb" person at Harvard, so regardless of whether they are legacies or not, they probably deserve to be here.
@MrWeDoBigThings alot of this intellectual accomplishment you mention is mostly in the analytical and and rhetorical sense- not in social or emotional, imperative to an important leadership position. In my experience i've observed that you guys feel you're entitled to great leadership titles; you're not- that is my biggest contention. The people that I've met with Harvard and other ivy pedidegrees have been for the most part underwhelming in comparison the aura that these degrees connote.
@boobtuber06 What you have observed with people of Ivy pedigree is not that we feel entitled to great leadership titles, but that we are the most ambitious people. The people that have the biggest drive and initiative are the ones who will achieve the most, and people from these schools have that. That being said, naturally then, these people will hold higher office. However, everyone makes mistakes and no one is liked by everyone, and you are certainly entitled to your opinions...
@boobtuber06 ...Also, just because someone goes to Harvard, or any other Ivy, doesn't mean that they are a demigod or an all-powerful being. People with Ivy "pedidegrees," whatever that means, are normal people that had the opportunity to live among and mingle with some great minds. So, I guess that with that mentality that Ivies are supposed to be these amazing creatures, meeting one and realizing that they are people IS a bit underwhelming.
""Wow Oxford has come down to bottom, giving stage to the functionaries [Zakir] of the bloody fascist doctrine of the pedophile barbar, while Harward seems to stay on the right path.

@0gerbilater0 The UK has more opportunities!? LOL are you out of your mind? I've been unemployed since September, it's like the politicians don't want young people to do to university (hence the rise in tuition fees) or to get a job (decreasing job numbers) and ever driving a car (rapidly increasing insurance premiums...) I wanna fucking get out of here
RooncoProductions 8 months ago
@RooncoProductions lol you want to comapre that to tution fees in america which is a lot more expensive tens of thousands of dollar a year, and the only reason why the gov is putting up fees is becuase its been too heavily subsidisied and becuase of the deficit the gov has, it needs to cut down you working class prick, and politicians dont have control over job creation numbers by themsselves, other factors affect that you stupid cunt, you really believe theres the "american dream?" LMFAO
0gerbilater0 8 months ago

Also, private institutions here ave very expensive, around $30k to $56, but there are state schools and other choices that cost much less, from $1k like community colleges to $10k-$15k for state schools.

too all harvard/ivy grads, I have this one request: please, please PLEASE stay away from the presidential office. this prestigious degree does not immediately endow you with the wisdom or tact to govern the present most powerful country in the world. Take your blind ambitions and do something else because your ilk are fast becoming public dissapointments.
that being said, congratulations on your degree; however overrated it may be.

@boobtuber06 Not every Harvard graduate is an elitist
Samonuh 11 months ago 23
@Samonuh There's nothing wrong with being an elitist...
Azlaier 8 months ago
@Azlaier Yes there is...
1. It's pride
2. You look like an asshole
Honestly, all the elitists in my school only talk to other elitists, because they claim average people are stupid and shouldn't be friends with them...which leads to the elitists having no good friends...
Samonuh 8 months ago
@boobtuber06 I'm probably missing something, but what was the motive for this comment? What's wrong with an Ivy League/Harvard graduate becoming the President..? They're not necessarily more qualified than a graduate from a state school, but they are definitely not less qualified.
MrWeDoBigThings 11 months ago
@MrWeDoBigThings- harvard "leaders" seem to garner a sense of entitlement, without any common sense.
Harvard, please go away
boobtuber06 11 months ago
@boobtuber06 With all due respect, Harvard "leaders" are entitled to that sense of entitlement. Out of about 9100 applicants, Harvard only accepts about 1000, proving that it is difficult to get in. Also, Harvard's 50th percentile SAT score is around a 2320, 80 points shy of a perfect score. Lastly, Harvard graduates make almost quadruple the amount of money on average than their non-Ivy League or state school counterparts. Frankly, I'm glad that there is an Harvard Law School graduate in office
MrWeDoBigThings 11 months ago
@MrWeDoBig wow... is that what you think it takes to be a good leader!? someone who does well on a scholastic achievement test and then got into an institution that mostly caters to legacies?
is this how most american people think?
boobtuber06 11 months ago
@boobtuber06 Honestly, that's how I think, but I'm not white. But I do go to Harvard (not because of affirmative action, my race doesn't fall into the "minority" category) and I think that the people I know here are definitely qualified to run the greatest country in the world, because excelling intellectually is USUALLY a vital asset to good leadership. I don't know a single "dumb" person at Harvard, so regardless of whether they are legacies or not, they probably deserve to be here.
MrWeDoBigThings 11 months ago
@MrWeDoBigThings alot of this intellectual accomplishment you mention is mostly in the analytical and and rhetorical sense- not in social or emotional, imperative to an important leadership position. In my experience i've observed that you guys feel you're entitled to great leadership titles; you're not- that is my biggest contention. The people that I've met with Harvard and other ivy pedidegrees have been for the most part underwhelming in comparison the aura that these degrees connote.
boobtuber06 11 months ago
@boobtuber06 What you have observed with people of Ivy pedigree is not that we feel entitled to great leadership titles, but that we are the most ambitious people. The people that have the biggest drive and initiative are the ones who will achieve the most, and people from these schools have that. That being said, naturally then, these people will hold higher office. However, everyone makes mistakes and no one is liked by everyone, and you are certainly entitled to your opinions...
felipeohyeah 9 months ago
@boobtuber06 ...Also, just because someone goes to Harvard, or any other Ivy, doesn't mean that they are a demigod or an all-powerful being. People with Ivy "pedidegrees," whatever that means, are normal people that had the opportunity to live among and mingle with some great minds. So, I guess that with that mentality that Ivies are supposed to be these amazing creatures, meeting one and realizing that they are people IS a bit underwhelming.
