That's a good comparison....I think it's also like the fear manufactured around the beginning of the Cold War...This massively exaggerated threat played up to be a global menace....I also don't think 911 was an inside job, but what is clear is a number of people were asleep on the job...It's only a short leap from that to assuming some were purposefully looking the other way...You now, 'let's just see what they do'...Kind of thing...And then bingo! Most soldiers aren't even killed in combat, just running into roadside bombs. It's a tragic waste of lives, considering we've achieved nothing...The Taliban is a mentality, not a definable enemy.
