Agree about the wind but his hands were always more forward than most and the key was to demo the chnage between address and impact hands...Agree about squat (slightly different to Snead IMO...Hogan seems to "squat slide" combined) and if your like bent right arm through impact check out "hogan pivot through impact"
consistent compression of the ball comes from the forward leaning shaft hogan has at impact ,, consistent distance and spin comes from consistant compression , so practice getting the hands in front at impact maintaining the energy until the hitting area ( 6 before the ball to 6 after impact)this gives us power ,, check my lessons out at hitmanhawky and thanks
thx for sharing this with us. I learn a lot by watching it over and over again. I have been trying to work on the impact position and it has been very inconsistant, need more work.
That is textbook impact position. Watch any pro and their hands will be in front of the ball at impact, even with a driver. That is the secret of golf, flat left wrist and downward compression of the ball
I think that this is footage from when he was filmed at Augusta - lots of similar shots on the DVD that was released 18 months ago and is on this site - see texasflood youtubes - plus it looks like the same swing from "Power Golf" - images also shot at AUgusta apparently
hands are still vertically inline with his left shoulder...just that his left shoulder is level with the ball with driver but ahead of ball with iron...I think

He was hitting into the wind. His one and only key was his right arm and squat into the downswing. Keep that right arm bent through the ball people!

his hands were that far ahead of the club so he can keep the ball under the wind he was playing in in this video.

Better to say..."lower body position at impact...its the forward location of pivoting lower body that brings the hands foward

i thought that would be a big no no with the driver as it would add spin making it hard to control but i agree with the irons and woods

why would u hit ur driver any different than any other club???? the only thing that changes is ball position...same swing....

he was hitting into the wind here. this is a good angle to see his great backswing hip action

his hands seem pretty far in front of the ball at impact but that might be because he's playing into the wind. thats what i think.

This is Mr. Hogan's iron play. What if it was driver, not iron ?
