@teiaperigosa Pretty sure when Jay recorded this song not to drop punchlines but to have people catch the true meaning of this version. Solomon's version didn't go over my head at all.. I analyzed all of it easily.
@Anto8787 lmao....jay z is all about punch lines... and otherwise he's talking bout the same old shit. nothing creative, nothing exceptional...so I called it GARBAGE. now, what is this 'true meaning' you speak of, lmao...I don't have time to analyze dumb ass simpleton trap raps. and I never assumed solomon's version went over anyone's head. his shit is simpleton too. It's an artistic IMPROVEMENT though. and of course it is...as a remake/cope of that nature SHOULD be. step ur game up boy boy
@teiaperigosa Wrong... Jay-z is DEFINITELY not all about punchlines.. You CLEARLY haven't heard many of his albums. For example, American Gangster wasn't known for punchlines. It was known for showing the deep meanings of the crack era. How is it the same old shit if that's all he was around? Its about that time you STEP your game up and do research before typing. And you clearly stated that Solomon's version was better when he did the SAME exact thing Jay-z did.. Only 15 years later..
@LosAngelesWeedSmoker how do you figure, Jay made 22 twos for Reasonable Doubt in '96, Iron Solomon stole the concept from Jay, and tried turning into a full song, where as jay only uses it as a skit at some concerts.
@fcscouto Iron Solomon acknowledges Jay's original 44 Fours, so how is it stealing? Did Jay Z steal "Can I Kick It?" because he samples the beat? Stealing implies wrongful acquisition or claiming origination of something already done, and Iron Solomon did neither. If you want to talk about stealing, talk about Beyonce's stealing of other people's choreography and artistic concepts without giving credit.
@LosAngelesWeedSmoker LMAO? Jay-z recorded 22 twos for Reasonable Doubt in 96.. He did 44 fours to promote his Kingdom Come album in 2006.. How come Iron Solomon's song came out in 2011?
@TomatoBasil23 ok first off dumbass.....50 cent is more relevant than most artists....and so is kesha......i hate that bitch's music and i want to stab her in the throat with a rusty screwdriver everytime i hear her....but....she has the record sales that make her relevant...and that's fine and good about nas staying true to his roots ...but hip hop is all about the club scene right now...don't agree with it but it's true so you get the fuck outta here you damn seasoning
Eminem is more commercial then Jay-Z but i never hear anybody diss him for that like it's a double standard like Jay-Z can't rap about hustling & being on the block anymore but when he raps about deep lyrical content like Lost Ones, Minority Report, Beach Chair, Sweet, No Hook, Fallin', Soon You'll Understand & Where Have You Been then people say he is falling off like people want it both ways he is married with paper higher then a roof & he's older so his content is not for 14-21 rather 26-40.
@The1987Kid when kids worship rappers that kick simple punchlines, 1liners and typical the same content, their mindset is small and can't understand the complex lyrics of the MCs. Then, that results in them saying "Ohh, Jay-Z he don't be saying nothing in his rhymes"
@ElijahStephon By the way like Jay-z's Music!! But the difference between me and you is that i am not as easily won over as you. I think he is good, but that is where i draw the line. I would NOT say that he is the BEST and call him Jesus... i mean "Hova". Raise your standards, you "seem" like a intelligent individual. Respect Shawn's work without being a drooling groupie... c'mon do you really think he is "THE BEST"? If you do, than u have yet to comprehend what "BEST" means. Google it.
@SoiNFLueNTiaL no...the diference between me and you is i'm willing to accept facts.......like i said.....NOBODY has put together the combination of lyricism and songwriting ability like jay-z ....that's what the game is about.......who can do it better than jay-z and why haven't they otsold him if they can do it better "i heard muhfuckas sayin they made hov...made hov say ok so....make another hov"
@ElijahStephon How many rappers have had the same Exposure Opportunities that Jay-Z has had? Jay-Z is a good rapper, but he by know means the best rapper alive lol.. If you think he is your small minded and naive. I didnt say he wasnt good i just said he is not the BEST.
@SoiNFLueNTiaL what kind of exposure opportunities was jay-z getting in 1995....who knew who jay-z was in 1995?......by 97 everyone knew who he was.....multiplatinum selling albums will do that for you so any "Exposure Opportunities" that jay-z has had were from buzz..... the only way you generate a buzz is if people want to hear what kind of music you have out there.....and people who make bad music don't get buzz....ask beanie sigel.
@ElijahStephon you say that, "any exposure opportunities Shawn had were from buzz". Wow!!! Sounds like you were there... You have ALOT to learn about the music biz! He is a good rapper, but he is a far more savvy Business man... "imma Business Mann!", Sound familiar? Shawn is good rapper that has mastered the "Art of Influence", it has been his ability to manipulate the music biz that has gained him rapping accolades, and "Naive-Minded Sycophantic Followers" of your type. I admire him for that.
@SoiNFLueNTiaL yes it is true that jay-z is a much better business man than rapper..... all i'm saying is that he is a much better songwriter than the lyricists who are better than him and a much better lyricist than the songwriters who are better than him......no one has been able to put the two together as well as jay-z has
@SoiNFLueNTiaL and on top of that....... who else has sold more number one albums than elvis.....you don't have 11 consecutive number 1 albums by not being the best......"men lie, women lie.......numbers don't"
@ElijahStephon it's apparent that you really revere this "person", and you are content beleiveing that he is the BEST rapper, even though you have never heard many other rappers that just as talented but havent had the exposure Jay-Z has had. If you think just becuz your records are good, you are going to get "plays", you must not listen to the radio. Have you heard the shyt that plays on the radio? Exactly... Music is about politics... "Politics as Usual" ;-) ... So #'s DO LIE.
@SoiNFLueNTiaL yes i have heard the songs that play on the radio ....and yes i have heard tons of local artists that are extremely talented ...but as you have stated the rap business is just that.....a business.....nobody gets into the "biz" to do anything but sell records and no one has done that like shawn has.....not saying that he is the best lyricist or the best song writer......but he is the best combination of the two
@ElijahStephon i agree..i hate rappers who say im not trying to go main stream im not trying to sell out but them the first dudes to do a sprite commercial or hop on the mic with a mainstream artist like jay-z...
@ElijahStephon yo are you serious? you're NOT a TRUE Hip-Hop head if you think it's about record sales. Nas & Rakim ALWAYS stayed TRUE to Hip-Hop & didn't sell out or become oversaturated & commercialized like Jay. Nas & Rakim are tge greatest lyricists & that's the biggest thing, Plus Illmatic & Paid In Full are considered the greatest albums in history cause of the way they changed Hip-Hop. Nas & Rakim have dropped numerous classics & the ONLY classic Jay has is Reasonable Doubt. That's it.
@NOLASaints911 only one classic album huh......that's not what history says....seriously though ....how many number one albums do nas and rakim have.......when one of them has 11 let me know something.......and the game is about record sales dumbass.....who the hell drops an album without record sales expectations?
@ElijahStephon history DOES say that. go do you Hip-Hop history. You do NOT have the amount of knowledge I have on Hip-Hop. Jay is NOT as lyrical as he was in Reasonable Doubt. He made money & sold out! And if you think Hip-Hop is about record sales, go talk to Nas or Rakim & they'll smack the shit outta you. Eminem has sold more albums than anyone, so would that make him the greatest? You're a moron. Nas, Em, Rakim 3 GREATEST lyricists/MC's all-time. I can keep proving you wrong if you want
@NOLASaints911 history says that those three are the greatest lyricists of all time....not the greatest rappers.....and like i've said before.....the thing that makes jay-z the greatest rapper alive is that NO ONE has been able to put together the combination of lyrics and songwriting ability like he has.........don't get me wrong.....i'm NOT saying that he is the best at both.......i AM saying that no one can put the two together better than him
@ElijahStephon relevance isn't just about sales, otherwise 50 would be a more relevant artist than most guys. Also, using this logic, you could say kesha is a more relevant artist than just about everyone else on the face of the planet given her sales this year, but we all know she is a trash artist. nas is still going gold which is a good sales achievement in this day and age, esp when he doesn't have hit singles on the charts. most importantly though, he makes solid albums true to hiphop roots
@ElijahStephon 50 cent is relevant because of everything but GOOD MUSIC..nas on the other hand is true to his craft . its not about clothes, movies, endorsements which are all just distractions..all he needs is ONE MIC and a message. If using a gimmick to get shines is your idea of being RELEVANT you really need to get your priorities in check ......SMH
@blax82 ok....relevance is a a direct reflection of how much you are talked about....correct?....who is talked about more....nas or 50 cent....obviously no one is understanding me....that nas and 50 cent beef...i think lyrically nas raped 50.....but regardless 50 has the relevancy because he stayed on the scene for years ...everytime you turn around 50 had another endorsment.....so nas can one mic all he wants but at the end of the day 50 will get 9 out of 10 endorsments over nas
@ElijahStephon what the fuck does endorsments have to do with good music? nada! what 50 eat dont make me shit...THAT WAS MY POINT MUSICIANS SHOULD BE RELEVANT FOR MUSIC AND NOT HOW MANY ENDORSMENTS THEY HAVE..THATS SOME SELLOUT SHIT .SORRY I CANT CO SIGN ..whens the last time 50 had a hot record?.Nas and damian marley probably wont go platinum but that whole album is fire! get off 50 dick son ..you got the typical herd/sheeple mentality ..opinions like yours are killing hip hop..
@NOLASaints911- hold up now doggie, them cats are ill but what about kool g rap and big pun.... kool g rap been spittin flames since rakim came and still is!!!
i love jay-z just as much as the next person and i think hes the greatest hands down but i only counted 41 4's if someone proves me differently think reply
Microphone Swift got next outta Southside Jamaica Queens, NYC. Peep the video/song and tell us what you think. If you like, post it on your page and let's get it poppin!
not the best that ever did it but the best thats doing it! when pac was here he couldn't breathe but pac would have never dun it like jay-z is doing bcuz of his mouth and his passion to deal with the social ills of the world!!!!
oh no I have -3 for a comment, LMAO.... and homie what's ur point? renegade has nothing to do with blue print 2. Em didn't kill J, he bodied the track. Your comment has nothing to do with what we're talkin about.... so scram, lol
Oh.... well I wasn't talkin about the Blue Print 2 album homie. I was talkin about the track on that album titled "blue print 2" where he actually puts out a good response to Nas. As far that double disc as a whole, ehhhhh, it was cool. Didn't dislike it, had joints I liked on both discs. He could of probably just grouped the best songs together and came out with a single album and just released the others randomly on different mixtapes. But he has quotables in every song tho, can't knock that..
How does he stay that grounded and that great after being so successful so long? You would think he'd lose it after a while but in my opinion, he's better than he's ever been.
he need to put this on wax asap

blueprint two was trash, renegade eminem killed him
ethiotoronto 3 years ago
oh no I have -3 for a comment, LMAO.... and homie what's ur point? renegade has nothing to do with blue print 2. Em didn't kill J, he bodied the track. Your comment has nothing to do with what we're talkin about.... so scram, lol
mrexclusive28 3 years ago
i meant renegade was a seperate issue. but blue print 2 was not a good album blue print 1 had some ill joints
ethiotoronto 3 years ago
Oh.... well I wasn't talkin about the Blue Print 2 album homie.

Sound hot but he lost me after a while.
How does he stay that grounded and that great after being so successful so long? You would think he'd lose it after a while but in my opinion, he's better than he's ever been.
